Call for Artist! Indiana Bicentennial
Hendricks County Commemorative Torch Relay Poster Contest
In partnership with the Hendricks County Torch Relay Committee, the Hendricks County Arts Council
(HCAC) is presenting the Hendricks County Commemorative Torch Relay Poster Contest for 2016.
The Poster Contest Winner will have his/her poster reproduced and made available throughout
Hendricks County. It will be the official 2016 Hendricks County Commemorative Torch Relay poster. The
winning “poster artist” will have his/her name posted on the HCAC and Visit Hendricks County websites.
The successful poster winner will receive a $250 cash prize and a Commemorative Bicentennial
Medallion. The contest is open to adults age 18 and over and who are residents of Hendricks County
Indiana.
The Torch Relay will take place in Hendricks County on
September 23, 2016 and feature over 20 “torchbearers”!
The contest deadline is August 12, 2016. See the Official Guidelines and regulations for additional information.
Posters should be graphically attractive and clearly display the theme “Hendricks County Torch Relay
Presented by Duke Energy”. The winning poster will be displayed in public settings, so please consider
this when designing your poster.
The poster must contain the following:
Image of the torch
Map of Hendricks County
Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay logo
Hendricks County Arts Council logo
Duke Energy logo and other sponsor
logos if applicable
The start of the relay will take place at Lucas Oil Raceway with a Drag Car that will travel down Reagan
Parkway to US 36 then it will proceed to the Avon Town Hall where it will be transferred to the Mayberry
Sherriff’s Car. From there it will be taken to Danville and the courthouse square. The Duke Energy truck
will then take the torch to Plainfield where it will be presented around the park before handing it off to
the Morgan County Torch Relay representative.

Hendricks County Commemorative Torch Relay Poster Contest
Official Guidelines: 1. Entries per person: Entries are limited to TWO SUBMISSION PER ARTIST.
2. Submitting your entry: You must complete the entry form application and submit your poster
via email to: [email protected] with “Poster Contest - Name of artist” in the subject
line. A short paragraph on why you chose to participate in the Torch Relay Poster Contest and
explanation of your poster concept must be included with your email submission.
3. Only ORIGINAL artwork will be considered. Please check your spelling!
4. Posters that include personal or corporate information or product endorsements will be
disqualified.
5. Copyrighted Images/Subjects: Copyrighted, trademarked products, packaging, brand names and
advertisements may not be used within the poster. Original signed release forms are required
for persons, whether public or private citizens, who are photographed and appear on the
poster.
6. Release forms can be as simple as a paragraph stating “permission” from “subjects” with a
printed list of names of the individuals appearing and signed by the individuals. If the subject is
under 18 the release form must be signed by a parent or guardian. This rule will be strictly
enforced and release forms must be submitted with the artwork submission.
7. Electronic Resolution and Format: Artwork is to be submitted in electronic format with a
resolution of 300 dpi and in jpg or PDF format. (Note: Poster Winner will be requested to
resubmit poster at higher resolution for reproduction purposes.) Poster should measure no
larger than 11” X 17” (Tabloid) and be either horizontal or vertical in orientation.
8. Judging and winner selection: All entries will be reviewed by judges from the Hendricks County
Torch Relay Committee and the Hendricks County Arts Council.
9. The competition will be judged on the following criteria (30 points maximum):
a. Creative and original artwork and idea -- 10 points.
b. Attractiveness in terms of design and neatness of layout --- 10points.
c. Overall Impact, all graphics are related to the topic and make it easier to understand the
poster theme – 10 points.
10. Final poster: The Hendricks County Torch Relay Committee and the Hendricks County Arts
Council reserve the right to alter the final poster design or to reject all submissions for the final
poster design. All submissions become the property of the Hendricks County Torch Relay
Committee and the Hendricks County Arts Council and may be used for commercial purposes.
