Vision Benefit Shouldn’t Be Forgotten According to a survey by Transitions Optical, Inc., nearly a quarter of all employees choose not to enroll in their company’s vision benefits plan and of those who do, 32% never use the benefit for comprehensive eye exams. That’s a lot of wasted benefits especially for a vision plan as easy to use as the one at FSC. Comprehensive eye exams are vital in maintaining good vision health. Exams allow for early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems which can be brought on by illness, environment, medication, injury and more. Often times a patient is unaware that a problem exists because no symptoms have manifested. Many participating benefits eligible employees at FSC don’t even realize that their medical plan offers a comprehensive eye exam every 12 months for a $20 co-pay. Administered by VSP, this plan allows employees to pick from a large network of doctors for an annual eye screening. Also available through the plan is a 20% discount on lenses and frames as well as a 15% discount on contacts. The VSP plan should not be confused with the Simple, Inc. dental and vision reimbursement plan which requires a separate enrollment. So, put an annual eye exam on your calendar along with your other annual preventive screening appointments. Your vision deserves just as much attention as the rest of your health.
