GLADstoNE MINING EXpo

RFS will be exhibiting at the Gladstone Mining & Resources Expo from 19-21 July 2011. Come and visit the team on stands 114 & 115 to watch demonstrations and check out the equipment on display. We’ve invited Dr. David Topp of TSC Inspection Systems to join us on the stands to demonstrate ACFM. We will also have Ultrasonic Phased Array; MPI/DPI; UV Lights; Thermal Imaging; Hardness Testers and much, much more on the stand. Come along and bring your sample inspection pieces. The RFS team will be more than happy to assist you with your inspection equipment requirements.

Infrared Cameras. I have had the chance to personally demonstrate this fantastic technology to a wide range of industries. It was back to school in June and I completed the Level 1 Infrared Thermography course at Melboune University. In July, Russell, David and I are off to the Gladstone Mining Expo in Queensland. There is so much going on with NDT at the moment, I am sure the year will pass very quickly for us all. When you call or email you can now put a face to the name, and I am looking forward to getting more familiar with your NDT requirements this year and into the future.Cheers for now, Warren Robertson

BRACELET SCANNER

The Phoenix manual Bracelet scanner is a low profile (13mm clearance envelope) small bore pipe scanner for use with phased array. It has the ability to inspect standard pipes ranging from 0.5” to 4” NPS. The scanner is compatible with industry standard small bore phased array probes and flaw detectors.

FEATURES• Pipe diameters ranging from 0.5” to 4” NPS• Has a clearance envelope of 13mm• Option of either single or dual probe inspection techniques• Rubber wheels provide smooth circumferential movement• Probes and wedges are easily inter-changeable

Dear CustomersIt’s been 10 months since joining Russell Fraser Sales and a big thank you goes out to Russell and the team for their support and guidance. Thank you our valued customers for your business and always interesting calls and emails. Having spent a fair bit of time in the Motor industry, I’ve found the world of NDT a totally new and stimulating experience. There is always something new to learn. Some highlights this year include: Attending the FLIR product launch in January for their new

BRUKER XRF SORTER

The Bruker S1 SORTER provides a fast, easy and completely non-destructive analysis method for every metal component for Positive Material Identification (PMI). Ideal for quality assurance, NDT and scrap sorting. Other Bruker models are also now available.

FLir vieWer app

NDT Inspection point labels are used to identify and access thickness measurement locations on insulated and non-insulated pipes and equipment, featuring low-leachable, high-strength adhesive and temperature resistance -40 C to +149 C.

The Acoustic Ranger emits a sonic wave which runs along the inside of a pipe, following it around bends and even complex spirals. It can detect and locate holes, blockages or foreign bodies in up to 500 metres of tubing at inspection rates of up to 800 tubes an hour.

NdT INSpECTION plUGS

NDT Inspection plugs are used to identify and access thickness measurement locations on insulated and non-insulated pipes and equipment reducing time for periodic tests, protecting against corrosion and eliminating the need for transition gaskets.

For seamless integration without cables or card readers, the FLIRViewer App works on Wifi to transmit Infrared data to the customer for Real-Time decisions. The FLIRIviewer App offers image manipulation and detailed descriptions plus GPS capabilities and useful reporting functionality.

The new Sonatest Veo is a highly capable Phased Array instrument with multi-technique functionality, including TOFD; fast data recording, a simple to use interface and rugged housing. Veo is ideal for Pipeline Weld Inspection, Aerospace and Composite Testing.

Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM) is an electromagnetic inspection technique which relies on the fact that an alternating current flowing in a component will be disturbed by the presence of a crack. The ACFM probe introduces an electric field locally into the structure and measures the associated electromagnetic fields close to the surface. The presence of a defect disturbs the associated fields and the information is graphically presented to the system operator. The ends of a defect are easily identified to provide information on defect location and length. The significance of a defect, in terms of structural integrity, generally depends on the depth of the defect. Using mathematical models, the system also provides the depth of the defect, thus allowing an immediate evaluation of the significance of the indication.

The AMIGO Crack Microgauge system provides:• Rapid scanning using a hand-held probe• Reliable crack detection & sizing (length & depth)• Dual frequency option 5kHz (for optimum performance on ferritic steel)• 50kHz (improved sensitivity on non-ferrous metals)• Rugged site unit, IP54 rated• At least 5 hour operation on one fully-charged battery pack & easy exchange of battery packs• Reduced cleaning requirements with no need to clean to bare metal• Capable of inspection through thin metallic coatings, or through non-conducting coatings several millimetres thick• Full data storage for back-up, off-line view & audit purposes (Windows software)• Access to a wide range of geometries using TSC’s new range of active topside probes• Buttons for RUN/STOP & MARKERS on instrument & larger probes to allow one man operation in difficult access areas• Probes with embedded serial numbers to simplify operation
