President’s Message

Ed’s Notes

Hello REMTC,

What an amazing month we had with 2 great tours. The month started off with the Forestville parade and BBQ. It was great to see everyone show up to this wonderful event put on by Pete and Ginny Rich each year. With the amount of candy that was tossed to the kids of Forestville I am sure we had some very energetic children that day. The Food at the Youth Park was great and Pete and Ginny (AKA Mom and Dad) put on a great breakfast for all.

Next we had the Petaluma Creamery tour put on by the Holtz family and the Jones family. What a great day this was. It started off with a very nice drive to Petaluma, and then an interesting and informative tour of the Petaluma Creamery. I had no idea such a large operation was happening in downtown Petaluma. The Creamery put on a lunch for us with fabulous pizzas and soft drinks. Then we followed more back roads home to Santa Rosa. What a great day. Thank you so much to the Holtz and Jones for putting on this tour. Also special thanks to Larry Peter, owner and operator of the Petaluma Creamery.

Our Club overnight tour is just around the corner. A number of people have already signed up at the motel. Please make your reservations as soon as possible at the motel. We have a limited number of rooms reserved. You will find a flyer and more information about the tour in this newsletter. I hope to see you on the tour.

The Sonoma A’s are putting on this year’s T and A tour. I have talked with Cinda and the Sonoma A’s have gone all out for us this year. They will be taking us on a great tour and then back to a member’s home for a BBQ and Lunch. All put on by the Sonoma A’s. Please RSVP to me if you are going to be joining us on this tour on August 18th. A big THANK YOU to the Sonoma A’s for hosting us this year.

Well that’s all for now, see you on the tours.

Chris

We would like to bring attention to a couple more events coming up. On Sunday, July 15th, The car show at Montgomery Village is just that — a car show. So, you can dress up in vintage clothes and spend a few hours with your car and be treated to pastries and a gift from the Village. We will be set up in the walking area around the stores and restaurants so PLEASE, Bring something to catch the oil that just might drip from our wonderful

Model T’s. We are going to have a big turnout as Vince has been busy hustling folks to show their cars. We have windshield placards for all the T’s. If you don’t have one, please let Ginny know and she will make one for you. Shopping in the village is fun so you won’t be bored. We meet at 9:30 and the show goes to 3:00 pm. Let Vince know if you are attending.

The tour on July 21st, hosted by the Faraudo’s and the Newlin’s will be the first time this tour will not be at the Welsh family home. Con Faraudo will be manning the barbecue of a whole pig and the clubs will provide potluck dish’s to share. Fran will be getting her wonderful victorian home ready to tour. Bill and Fern Newlin are in charge of the tour for the day and Fern will be helping Fran with the setup. Don’t miss this chance to enjoy Faraudo hospitality and share a nice tour and food with the Horseless Carriage Club. RSVP’s are important on this tour . . . ED

Eighteen Model T’s paraded down the short blocks in Forestville. We had pastries and Gin Fizzes, threw candy to the children and had a nice barbecue lunch at the Youth Park. You are all so appreciated for helping our lo-cal kids enjoy sports programs and the many activities provided by this event. We carried the citizen of the year, business person of the year and the volunteer of the year. Home town parades bring out the best in everyone!

Larry Peter, the owner and operator gave us an extensive tour of the creamery opera-tions. I don’t think any of us realized how much cheese,(Spring Hill Brand) is pro-duced there plus the volume of product that goes all over the state. I also didn’t know how much powdered milk goes into so many foods that we use every day. Those facts and many others were sprinkled with Larry’s personal struggles to succeed against all odds. His energy and enthusiasm for what he does and his love for the business is evident in every story. After the tour, we went upstairs to a private room and had pizza and cold drinks. Most of us bought cheese and tasted the wonderful ice cream made right there. Larry was very vocal in his praise for our tour hosts for the day, Earl & Dot Holtz.

They have been active in the dairy industry for many years and highly regarded for their dedication. Kudos to Dot & Earl and Larry Peter for an interesting and educational tour.
