Summer would be a great time to open your Bible in some quiet times so that God can speak peace to your heart. The Psalms are a wonderful resource to that end. In Psalm 4 (above) David speaks of the peace that Christ and His believers have in a world at enmity to God and to His will. As God is angry at the devil and those who follow the devil to deny Him and oppose His will, and as Jesus encountered hardened enemies amongst His own people to whom He had been promised, all who hold God's Word will have ample reasons to be angered and not sin. Why? Because of the enmity of God's enemies who stubbornly choose evil and affirm evil and oppose God and what is good. Every night when we lay our head upon our pillow our heads swim with the commerce of the day and the frustrations we experience by our own short- comings and sins and by the open evil that opposes everything good in the world. But when David, by the Holy Spirit, tells us to meditate, we're di- rected to remember that all of our sins and those of the world around us have an answer in God. We remember Jesus who died for our sins and the sins of the world. And in praying to Him and meditating on Him, the sun does not go down on our anger, for in Christ and Him crucified all that evil and what opposes God dies and is put away in Christ's own Words: "It is finished." At the end of each day we can commend our frustrations to Christ in whose hands is every solution and the end to all of our problems. David goes on to exhort believers to the sacrifice of righteousness. What is that? It's joyfully getting up every morning in the grace of Christ, remembering His righteous sacrifice made once and for all, and living in the reality of that sacrifice, confessing Him as our Lord with this life of ours and making our own lives a living sacrifice engulfed in His, as Paul also exhorts us in Romans 12.1. Such benefits David praises for all believers in Christ are also our heritage as we have come to know God's great love for us in Christ, who gives us answers to all the problems we have as sinners in a sinful world and who covers our lives with grace that is plentiful enough to extend to all the world! In our chapel service, the

proclaimed. Students are
blessed to hear the mes-
sage of joy to the shep-
herds of Bethlehem; the
joy of the cross; and the
joy of the resurrection. It
promises to be a joy-
filled year.
Work continues in our
classrooms this summer.
There are fresh coats of
paint and upgrades be-
ing made to our lights.
The ordering of new
classroom materials can
wait just a little while, but
will get accomplished as
well. The start of our
school year is set for Au-
gust 26.

The Ladies’ Aid will not be having their regular meeting on Thursday, July 4th due to the holiday. Instead we will be having our annual outing on Thursday, July 18th at the Purple Door Tea Room in Ferndale. The Purple Door offers several selections which include soup, salad, tea sandwiches, and dessert ranging in price from $10 to $30. If you are a member of the Ladies’ Aid, Judy Shepard will be calling you to find out if you want to attend and what tea selection you would like. If you aren’t a member but would like to attend, please call Judy at 313-336-4223. We will be carpooling to the tea room and will meet in the park-ing lot at 11:00 for lunch at noon.

“The Lord bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life! May you see your children’s chil-dren! Peace be upon Israel!” (Ps. 128: 5-6).
Stewardship is a generational thing. With-out fail, those who grasp and practice the depth and joy of faithful stewardship have almost always learned it, not from a book or seminar, but from the faithful example of those who paved the way before them. In many churches, the visible generosity of the sanctuary is a clear example. That God’s people would be willing to sacrifice for the sake of the joy of the Gospel being pro-claimed to subsequent generations, even when they rest from their labors with Jesus is nothing short of remarkable!
We know peace with God because it was passed down to us from earlier generations. This puts our steward- ship in a much clear-er perspective. So often we have thought of stewardship considering what is needed for the here and now. But the blessing from God is gen- erational. As the Lord allows us to see our children’s children, it gives us the opportunity as stewards of God’s grace to share the Gospel and its treasure with the generations that follow. This generational stewardship is really nothing other than sharing the peace that is ours in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As stewards we respond to God’s giving of simple gifts with joy. Joy like this is contagious! It is our goal to have it be catching from one generation to the next. How you respond today, both with the action of faithful stewardship as well as the depth of your generosity, helps cause this joy to spread. Knowing that we are sharing this simple gift is the greatest blessing!
Prayer Generous Lord, You have caused us to be heirs of the Gospel because of the gener-osity of the generations before us. We are grateful for these simple gifts. We pray that by Your Holy Spirit You would continue to spread the joy of this prosperity with the generations after us by leading us to be faithful stewards of these simple gifts to-day. Show Jesus to them through us now and even after we rest from our labors with You! Amen.
