The 18-year-old Green, who is still an amateur, two-putted for par, sinking a15-footer, to secure a spot in the U.S. Women’s Open, scheduled July 5-8 atthe Black Wolf Run Championship Course in Kohler, Wis. She could haveclinched the spot on No. 18, the previous playoff hole, but missed a 4-footer for birdie.
“I’m kind of in shock. It will probably sink in on the ride home,” said Green, who is from Boca Raton. “I came back here (Wednesday morning), notknowing what I was doing. We rushed to finish before it got dark(Tuesday). It was a long day — 36 holes and every shot counted — and thento come back the next day, it was crazy. It almost felt like a full

Defending theDefending theDefending theDefending theDefending theLob in DoublesLob in DoublesLob in DoublesLob in DoublesLob in Doubles
The first line of defense for a lob is an over-head... there is no other shot that is moreof an equalizer for a lob! Having a goodoverhead sends your opponent the mes-sage that the lob will not work. Eliminat-ing a shot your opponent can hit causesthem to have to rethink their strategy andtakes away the option of the lob.
If you and your partner are at the net andyour opponents are hitting deep lobs thatprevent you from hitting effectiveoverheads, your team should play closerto the service line.
If at some point during the rally you havean opportunity to hit the ball short, do so.This will make it more difficult for your op-ponents to hit a successful lob becausethere will be less court into which youropponents can hit.
If you are not able to hit effectiveoverheads, and hitting the ball short orplaying closer to the service line does notwork, then you and your partner shouldplay two back.
You have an arsenal of defenses againstthe lob... you just have to play smart!
