It is no secret that a regional MLS® System is at the top of every REALTORS® wish list.

The challenge for Boards has always been reaching a common ground among their counterparts.

As of this past February, that appears to be happening. REALTORS® in southern On-tario may see it come to fruition sooner than later.

When Corelogic reported Matrix as their pre-mier system in early 2014, the foundation was set for a potential regionalized MLS® System.

Since then, discussions have been ongoing with over 35 meetings to date. Boards par-taking in these regional discussions include Brantford, Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener-

Waterloo, Hamilton-Burlington, Niagara, Oakville-Milton and Simcoe.

Everything from governance, policies, forms and MLS® rules and regulations must be ex-amined and importantly, agreed to.

A new beta version of Matrix has an antici-pated launch date of early 2015 with a goal of having the eight boards live on the system by mid-2015.

Of course, the big question is what about east of Oakville?

Nothing is certain yet; but the more people out on the floor, the more attractive the dance becomes.

Keep an eye out for future developments as they are announced.

In March, the Board was proud to receive a 2014 Spirit Award for being “instrumental in promoting the good works of the REALTORS Care Foun-dation through past successes and continual fundraising support.”

Since its founding in 1954, the Board and its Members have al-ways been committed to community involvement.

Today, that commitment is stronger than ever.

Through our partnership with Habi-tat for Humanity Halton, Members embraced the opportunity to lend a hand this spring at their Oakville build.

Not to mention, all the individual charities Members support.

Thank you for all that you do in our community.

Community CornerPembroke drive home ready for familyIt has only been a couple months since our Board Members donned hard hats and work boots at 1543 Pembroke Drive in Oakville.

The home is now complete and Habitat for Humanity Halton is ready to hand over the keys.

Please join us Saturday, August 9th at 2 p.m. for the dedication ceremony. Hope to see you there!

Community spirit runs strong

1543 Pembroke in April. Thank you to everyone who volunteered.

The 2014 Scholarship Awards were presented at Oakville Town Hall on June 10th.

In April, the Board initiated Scout for SAFEACCESS™, which is the current standard for se-curity authentication for MLS® systems. This brought an end to key fobs, which were prone to break or get lost - and be replaced at a cost.

The transition to Scout has been incredibly smooth. In fact, three months after it was initi-ated, approximately 96.5 per cent of members and subscribers are enrolled in the Scout for SAFEACCESS™ system.

Remediation will begin August 1st.

What is remediation?

Remediation is a seven step process designed to address unauthorized access once it has been detected through the use of data analytics; specifically, keystroke patterns, among other variables such as device and IP address.

An email communique was distributed on Thursday, July 17th with full details. If you have any questions about the remediation process, please contact Mark at the Board office.

Stay tuned for more technology updates in this space in upcoming editions.

Technology NewsRemediation starts August 1st

The Board is happy to welcome back Sam Featherstone, following her maternity leave. Sam will resume her previous po-sition as MLS® Coordinator at the Milton office.

The Board would also like to extend con-gratulations to Manisha Mistry and her family for recently becoming Canadian citi-zens.

In April, a number of Board staff achieved their CRAE designation as part of the Board’s goal to increase staff knowledge of the industry at the association level.

Staff NewsSam’s return; Manisha, eh?

Matrix 6.7 coming soonCoreLogic will be releasing Matrix 6.7 in the coming months. Enhancements will include:

• A new and improved client portal• Reverse prospecting enhancements• Improved auto emails and added search abilities within the auto email • Turn-by-turn directions will include drive times• Better search functions in all displays• Miscellaneous bug fixes within the system and for browsers
