July /August Newsletter 2018 A Note from Peni Summer at BRC – We are so pleased with our new courts. Courts 9 and 10 along with the entire area is now a beautiful area of the club. We thank all the members for embracing the process and we hope that you are as pleased as we are with the results. This project could not have taken place without the generous financial support, volunteers working long hours to do so much of the labor and members graciously working around the busy court sched- ule. If you havent signed up for the great July 3 rd Crab Boil do so quickly. Bobbie is preparing a wonderful seafood dinner with music to compliment the Louisiana style menu. Our fitness center has never looked better. Thanks to all the volunteers who moved equip- ment and installed the flooring. It looks great. The new windows, which allow more lighting are being enjoyed by all. Thank you to Richard who constructed and installed the wall racks, they were a needed entity and will help keep the fitness center organized and neat. All areas of the club are booming. Tennis leagues and free play (even on the warm days) are going strong. Pickleball is hopping with players enjoying the courts and a fun 4 th of July so- cial. Water Fitness is available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and evenings. What a great program Nancy Lerma instructs every summer. Our Kids Tennis Camps are full and kids are loving the Themeweeks. We also continue with Zumba, Ballroom Dance and we have added Yoga. Because of all the wonderful activities offered at BRC, some have referred to our club as a cruise ship. A place to relax, exercise, socialize and meet with friends. A Note from Peni

Summer at BRC – We are so pleased with our new courts. Courts 9 and 10 along with the entire area is now a beautiful area of the club. We thank all the members for embracing the process and we hope that you are as pleased as we are with the results. This project could not have taken place without the generous financial support, volunteers working long hours to do so much of the labor and members graciously working around the busy court sched-ule.

If you haven’t signed up for the great July 3rd Crab Boil do so quickly. Bobbie is preparing a wonderful seafood dinner with music to compliment the Louisiana style menu.

Our fitness center has never looked better. Thanks to all the volunteers who moved equip-ment and installed the flooring.

Pickleball is hopping with players enjoying the courts and a fun 4th of July so-cial. Water Fitness is available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and evenings. What a great program Nancy Lerma instructs every summer. Our Kids Tennis Camps are full and kids are loving the “Theme” weeks. We also continue with Zumba, Ballroom Dance and we have added Yoga. Because of all the wonderful activities offered at BRC, some have referred to our club as a cruise ship. A place to relax, exercise, socialize and meet with friends.

Thank you to all – enjoy the summer, because BRC is “The Place To Be”

Tennis Director’s Corner - Mark Fredriksz Tennis Court Construction going forward

Phase I is complete and we love the results! Great job to all the workers and volunteers that made the magic happen. Phase II of our club construction goals includes tearing up Courts 1, 2, Pickleball court and hitting wall. At this writing we have decided to temporarily place that project on hold. We’ve learned a lot from Phase I and its impact on our club and we’re going to see if there’s some actions we can do to make less of a burden to our members during these very busy months. But when we complete these projects, this 70 year old club will look as good as new! We’ll keep you posted with our weekly e-blasts.

Junior Summer Camps

Our summer camps are in full swing and the response to our camps has been fantastic. We’ve sold out the first 3 weeks prior to the first camp and the participation for the remaining camps has been steady. If your child or grandchild is interested in either our Day Camps or Late Nite Owl Camp, pick up a brochure at the front desk and join us. Remember, members always have priority placement before non-members. We offer a variety of ways to enjoy the camps; half and full days, single days and specials for multi-week participation. Wanted to say a quick thank you to the summer staffers: Making the magic happen our Camp Director: Kaylee Defrees with the rest of the crew: Kayleen, Jeff, Chris, Adrian and Chuck.

We’ve added a new family member to the fold!

We’re pleased to announce that along with Petroleum Club and Sundale Country Club, we welcome our newest family member: Templeton Tennis Ranch in Templeton, CA. Members, after paying a minimal usage fee can have full member privileges, enjoy their Pickleball, Pool, first class Gym and of course tennis courts. Just flash your membership card at the front desk and enjoy!

Jr. Novice Tennis-n-Swim Tournament Social

Well, it summer and we live in the desert- Yeah, it’s HOT! But it doesn’t mean that we can’t have a little fun in the sun. Participants will play a round-robin format event and afterwards, change into their bathing suits for a nice refreshing swim. We’ll also have burgers, dogs and some ice cream- everything a growing child needs to grow up strong. Sign-up are in the pro shop.
