Beliefs of Ruby

The red hue of the ruby suggested to many there was a fire that burned within the stone and it was because of this belief that lead to the myth that nothing would put out the flame, nor could it be hidden in any way, regardless of how it was wrapped or covered.

That belief extended to a fear that if the stone were tossed into water, it would transmit that fire burning from within and turns the body of water into a boiling mass.

Ruby in Burma

Ruby was the favourite gem of Burma.

They were believed to bring invincibility to the wearer but in order to tap into that supernatural power wearing the gem was not enough.

The stone had to be inserted into the flesh in order to unlock this magically power.

Those who wore rubies inside their bodies in such a way believed they could not be harmed or killed by spear, sword or gun.
