Planning has beensubmitted for 4 three bed houses inThurlestone and planning is due to besubmitted for 4 three bed houses in Morleigh. We are also close to finalising a deal torefurbish a block of flats and convert them into3 three bed and 3 four bed houses – so a verybusy time for all the staff!

The Simm’s View

Jubilee garden,

designed and planted by

the residents and friends. Edrie kindly took this

photo and it shows her prize winning floral

display from our local flower show.

Jubilee Cream Tea at Simm’s View – A big success!

We were bowled over by the response to ourJubilee Cream Tea Party in aid of Devon AirAmbulance, held last month at Simm’s View, Ilsington.Over 40 friends and neighbours from the villageattended as well as some children from the localprimary school. We enjoyed the chance to share ourlovely garden. The bunting and balloons had a toughjob to compete with Ted’s amazingly festive shirt –very ‘on trend’ for something so retro with redwhite and blue Warhol prints of Georgie Best thefootballer. It screamed the ‘60’s’!

The cream tea was enjoyed with relish, and followinga pause to raise three cheers for The Queen, wecongratulated Julia on her wonderful cake bearing apicture of the Devon Air Ambulance. A note ofthanks is due to everyone who helped to get thegarden at Simm’s View ready for our tea-party andfor the summer celebrations. Linda and Mark ourgardeners are always so attentive and keepeverything in such good health and colour. This yearwe have been especially fortunate to have thecapable and dedicated support of Barry, a friend ofthe scheme, who has not only filled all our tubs, potsand troughs with bedding plants, but has also paintedmany of our containers in Jubilee colours. Ourbalcony is looking most regal.

Finally I wish to announce that as a result of ourafternoon tea party we have raised £201 for theDevon Air Ambulance, a terrific sum, which reflectsthe respect we all have for the charity and thebenefits it brings to rural Devon.
