“This is it,” unusual yet convincinglow-rise proposal
Instead of extension and renovation, the building was reconstructed.Heart of the development and research was reorganized.
New building is integrated with the existing wing via veranda space. It promotes communications and heightens creativity.
We intentionally proposed a plan to reconstruct the building, against the requirements of the competition of extension/renovation̶because renovation will never achieve an ideal building here. Low-rise proposal with high security program naturally convinced the client by saying, “this is it”. (Quoted from Nikkei Architecture Magazine June 2007 edition) For detailed information

The client acknowledged that it should be the plan to resurrect existing values in Minami District of Osaka, in order to compete against the large-scale redevelopment of Kita District. The plan regenerates existing values while it also tells a message of its changes to the surrounding environment. This activation plan of Minami District will change the flow of people by introducing 3 new plaza spaces and developing clear circulations to link them.

Fuji SpeedwayKIKKOMAN CORPORATION Brewery Building
In order to increase transparency of construction cost, this project was signed in “open book” style contract. The project was to dismantle a historical “brewery building” of a soy sauce manufacture, which has been the purveyor of the Imperial household, and reconstruct it to restore original conditions by shrine carpenters. In addition, an exhibition extension in glass box was also built, requiring different degrees of precision for those old and new buildings. The contrast between those buildings became a topic of conversation after their completion.
This is a project to apply seismic upgrade and improve hospitality of the facility to gather wider variety of customers. In addition to the seismic upgrade of the ground stand seating and adding seismic resistant structure to the ceiling of a restaurant, PLANTEC constructed smoking booths and family toilet to be used by families in short period of time by using containers. During the construction for the ground stand seating, PLANTEC took special care for temporary work, by utilizing special movable working platform to be removed during major events of the facility not to interfere with audience watching racing event.

Declaration of Project Solution
PLANTEC Group proposing
1.In general, architects calls their designed buildings as “works” . However, PLANTEC Group does not call them as “works” , but as “projects”.
PLANTEC Group considers buildings is not the product
of an architect, and it shall be created by a collaboration
with clients.
We decided to call buildings realized with technologies
and know-how of people, involving architects with
various skills and clients aiming for common missions,
not as “works” but as “projects” .
2.PLANTEC Group does not use “design” but “solution” for projects.
Forms of buildings shall not be produced by arbitrary
form making intention. Architectural design has
necessary logics in all aspects, and its goal shall go
beyond a mere form making process in order to
maximize the value of buildings by paying attention to
functionalities and cost issues.
In that sense, we decided to call the “design” process as
“solution”.
PLANTEC ARCHITECTS INC. acquired ISO9001 certification on February 27, 2007.
