was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. She got into the computer world right after college, starting as a programmer for several or-ganizations including NASA, then working for IBM for 28 years, in sales, consulting, and executive management. She retired from IBM in 2005.
Steve and Louise have been mar-ried for 45 years. They have 2 chil-dren, and 3 of the cutest grandchil-dren on earth. They enjoy hiking, travel and occasionally hanging around home in La Jolla.
Louise joined the La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club in 2002, and was president in 2009-2010. She and Steve have committed to Paul Harris Society and are major do-nors. She now spends her time working on all things Rotary, as
well as being a Court Appointed Advocate for two foster children. She has led strategic planning for D5340; she and her team have helped 45 clubs create a strategic plan. She also led the first foray into the Rotary Friendship Ex-change program for District 5340, with two team trips to Turkey and India, and four return visits from the districts they visited. As dis-trict governor, she has made club support a central tenet of the Dis-trict, ensuring that resources are available to help clubs reach their goals and strengthen their clubs. She has also committed to provid-ing more education to Rotarians, strengthening youth programs across Southern California, and helping those in need in our local and global communities… while reminding everyone to have fun along the way.

4 WAY TEST
For Rotary, The Four-Way Test is the cornerstone of all action. It has been for years, and it will be in the future. Of the things we think, say or do
As Rotarians, we should have The Four-Way Test in mind in every decision we make, all day long. Our utmost responsi-bility is to Speak The Truth, to Be Fair, to Build Goodwill and Better Friendships, and to do our very best in all situations.
4 Way Test was developed in 1932 by
Herbert J. Taylor.
---- 1 ---- Is it the TRUTH?
---- 2 ----Is it FAIR to all concerned?
---- 3 ----
Will it build GOODWILL and
better FRIENDSHIPS?
---- 4 ----Will it be BENEFICIAL
to all concerned?

The inaugural meeting of President Ron Kohl kicked off in grand fashion. Let’s see if everyone can follow along, shall we?
President Ron introduced Rotarian of the Day Rick Binder (aka Joel Candib). Directly following - and all in good fun he next introduced Joel Candib (aka Rick Binder) to introduce the guests. Rick introduced himself as Brett Morey and - are you all following this? - introduced the guests. Guests present included Letty and Maria Grillo-Lopez, and Jojo Caldwell brought prospective member Amanda Winchell.
Get Well cards were passed around for Debbie Galgut and Denny Jacobs. Please keep them both in your hearts and prayers. Bev Fritscher announced the upcoming Rotary Padre night on July 18th. Tickets are $50 each and include great seats, a cap and more. Come support the district and help end Polio once and for all. Linda Stoufer gave us a brief recap of the Arts and Craft Beer Festival and thanked everyone who helped out. Brett Morey presented Antonio and Maria Grillo-Lopez with the Humanitarian of the Year Award for their outstanding and very generous contributions this past year.
Ron Kohl presented his plans and goals for the coming year and introduced the Board of Directors and the Leadership Team. Among his goals is a re-incorporation of the Four-Way Test at the beginning of each meeting. Also, there are some very exciting events coming up. Some highlights include a community (all five La Jolla clubs) luncheon in January. An International work project in Ensenada in October and the kickoff of a new Rotoract Club at University City High School in September.
Lots of exciting things in the works. Be sure to attend next week’s meeting when our own Louise Andres kicks off her term as District Governor.

•KKathleen was born and raised in the Los Angeles with a dominant Hollywood connection her father worked in the film industry and a majority of their neighbors and her classmates all had ties to Hollywood. After gradating from a from a small Catholic girls school in Los Angeles, she chose to go to USC where she graduated with a life long Trojan spirit. Fight On! Kathleen began her lifelong love of travel by do-ing post graduate studies at the Univ. of Valencia in Spain.
A few years after teaching Kgn and first grade in San Diego she accepted a position with the US Dept of Defense to teach in Berlin. In addition to teaching Kathleen studied German at the Goethe institute which turned out to serve her well in subsequent travel emergencies. As she toured the European continent on numerous trips
35 years ago she married David settled down and inherited his two teenagers Lisa and Ben who are now successful independent adults. She finished a
graduate degree in counseling and became a Dis-trict Counselor for San Diego Unified. In 1986, she was chosen to be an exchange teacher in China which subsequently led to Kathleen discovering Yantai San Diego’s Sister City and being selected by Mayor O Connor to be Chair of the Interna-tional Affairs Board for the City of San Diego.
Kathleen was the founding President of the San Diego Sister City Association. She was elected to the National Board of Sister Cities for two terms and served as the Secretary of the Board. She is now the State Coordinator for Sister Cities International in Southern Califor-nia.
Rotary became a part of her life when David became a charter member of the LJGT in 1986. For years she enjoyed participating with David in the various projects, hosting GSE teams and Ambassadorial Scholars. In 2008 she joined Dory and Linda on a Rotary Study Trip to Bo-livia where they successfully twisted her arm to become a member.
She immediately joined the International Service Comm...and initiated a Matching Grant in Bali, where she had a long time friend who was a Ro-tarian soon after, Louise asked her to Co Chair International Service During her tenure she led a Rotary Study Trip to Indonesia and established a Sister Rotary Club with the Bali Ubud Sunset Rotary Club.
Since 1962 Kathleen has either studied, worked or visited 106 countries. Her latest being Fiji where she discovered a new dynamic Rotary con-nection in Taveuni which is the site to be of a pro-posed ISC project for 14/15.
