Sierra Hull & HigHway 111Copley Plaza Main Stage, 7 PMSierra Hull is an American bluegrass singer who first took the bluegrass world by storm with the debut album “Secrets,” released by Rounder Records when she was only 16. The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard Top Bluegrass Albums charts.

Originally from Byrdstown, Tennessee, Hull has been recognized as a musical force since she was a child. At the age of 11, Hull was invited to the Grand Ole Opry Stage by bluegrass superstar Alison Krauss, who also co-produced Hull’s first album. In 2012, Hull graduated from Berklee College of Music, where she was the first bluegrass musician to

receive Berklee College of Music’s Presidential Scholarship, the school’s most prestigious award. She has received five International Bluegrass Music Association nominations in the past three years and has effortlessly made the transition into adulthood with the release of her second album, “Daybreak.” With her unique style and unmatched talent, Sierra Hull has proven that her presence in the music world is something that will be around for a long time to come. photo: Gregg Delman

In 2006, the band was awarded the National Medal of Arts. It is the band’s continued ability to connect all generations to New Orleans jazz that has made the Preservation Hall Jazz Band an essential component of American music. photo: © 2010 Clint Maedgen

Del MccouryCopley Plaza Main Stage, 8:30 PMFor over fifty years, Del McCoury’s music has defined authentic bluegrass. Originally from York County, Pennsylvania, McCoury began his career as a musician when he joined Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys in 1963. In 1992, when McCoury moved his family to Nashville, his career took off. Forming the Del McCoury

Band with his sons, McCoury became a bluegrass celebrity.

McCoury has received numerous awards including four consecutive Entertainer of the Year Awards (nine total) from the prestigious International Bluegrass Music Association. In 2006, he won his first Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album for “The Company We Keep.” In 2010, he was honored with a National Heritage Fellowship lifetime achievement award from the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2011, he was elected into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.

Signed to Rounder Records, McCoury’s widespread popularity speaks to his ability to draw fans from other genres. He has performed with bands such as Phish and The String Cheese Incident and recorded with Steve Earle. By bridging the gap between bluegrass music and all other genres, he has helped make bluegrass the widely appreciated genre that it is today. photo: Ted Kurland Associates

Her first single, “You Can Have My Husband (But Don’t Mess with My Man),” reached number 22 on the Billboard R&B chart.

Over the next 30 years, she continued to sing chart-topping hits, including “It’s Raining”, “Wish Someone Would Care” and “Time is on My Side”. In 1991, Thomas earned her first Grammy nomination for her record “Live! Simply the Best”. Currently signed to Rounder Records, Thomas continues to release new records, including gospel and acoustic songs. In 1982, after working with Cal Tjader’s band, Sanchez signed with Concord Records and released his first album. According to Sanchez, one of his favorite aspects of Latin Jazz music is that while it blends American standards and jazz with Latin American music, it was created in America. With over two dozen recordings, Poncho Sanchez has become one of the premiere musicians of Latin Jazz around the world. In 2000, Sanchez and his ensemble won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album for their work on the Concord Picante Album “Latin Soul”. photo: Devin DeHaven

Suzanne VegaCopley Plaza Main Stage, 7:30 PMWidely regarded as one of the most brilliant songwriters of her generation, Suzanne Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what has been labeled contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs. Since the release of her self-titled,

critically acclaimed 1985 debut album, she has given sold-out concerts in many of the world’s best-known halls.

In 1987, Vega released “Solitude Standing,” co-produced by Steve Addabbo and Lenny Kaye. The album elevated Vega to star status, reaching #2 in the UK and #11 in the States. “Solitude Standing” was nominated for three Grammys including Record of the Year and went platinum. “Luka” and “Tom’s Diner,” two songs from “Solitude Standing,” reached the top 10 of various international chart listings. Soul RebelSCopley Plaza Main Stage, 9:15 PMFounded on the idea of combining traditional brass music with modern songs, Soul Rebels came about when two New Orleans natives broke out of the brass music mold to create their own updated sound. An eight-piece brass band that incorporates elements of soul, jazz, funk, hip-hop, rock and pop music, Rebels found a strong and supportive audience in New Orleans. After opening for the Neville Brothers, the Soul Rebels found an even larger fan base and was the true beginning of their career. Since then, the Soul Rebels have shared the stage with notable artists from both the pop and jazz worlds, including Arcade Fire, The Roots, Counting Crows, Green Day, and many more. The Soul Rebels have also performed internationally and brought their party-atmosphere show to some of the world’s best-known music events including, Umbria Jazz Fest, Antibes Jazz Fest, The Montreal Jazz Festival, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. photo: Rick Olivier

Sunday, July 29: 11am - 4:30pm Tours offered every half hour

Two-for-one admission offered during Summer Arts Weekend. Guided tours depart every half hour. The Otis House is the last surviving mansion in what was Boston’s most elite eighteenth-century neighborhood. Charles Bulfinch designed the house for Harrison Gray Otis. Otis was a lawyer who made a fortune developing nearby Beacon Hill, served in Congress, and was a mayor of Boston. The Otis House is the first of three houses Bulfinch designed for Harrison Gray Otis and his wife Sally Foster Otis. The house’s design reflects the classical proportions and delicate detail of the Federal style. Visitors learn about the upper-class Otis family, life in the Federal era, and the later history of the house, when it served as a clinic and boardinghouse. The restoration of the Otis House and its brilliantly colored wallpapers, carpeting, and high-style furnishings, is based on meticulous historical and scientific research.

TriNiTy CHurCH & DeCorDoVa MuseuM To HosT “WHo Do you blaMe?”

Friday, July 27, 11:30 am - 5pm Trinity Church, Copley Square (West Porch) Free and open to the public.

Saturday, July 28, 11am - 1pm; Reception & Artist Talk 2pm deCordova Museum, 51 Sandy Pond Road, Lincoln, MA 01773 Lecture free, but museum admission required

If you happen to be on Copley Square during the afternoon on Friday, July 27 you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a unique public art project which Trinity has agreed to host with the deCordova Museum in Lincoln. The Office of Blame Accountability (OBA) was established by artists Carla Repice and Geoff Cunningham to examine habitual modes of interacting with problems (complaining, blaming) and to suggest possibilities for stepping outside these “cubicles of thought.” The OBA is taking place on public sidewalks and main streets across the United States, and invites passersby to “blame, record, and reflect.” Stop by to learn more!

On Saturday, July 28, at 11 am, the art project will move to the deCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA. Reception and lecture will follow at 2:00 pm. The OBA was first staged in the European painting room at the San Diego Museum of Art in the summer of 2010, and has published a portion of its files through LoudMouth Press (available at the Shop at Trinity and deCordova Museum Store).
