LIBERTY MINISTRIES CELEBRATING OVER 20 YEARS OF MINISTRY JULY AUGUST 2016 NEWS FROM THE ROAD the official newsletter of LIBERTY MINISTRIES PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN I have been a registered lobbyist in Idaho, representing a variety of agriculture groups, for the past 40 legislative sessions. Once in a while, that has spilled over into helping with political campaigns, going door-to-door for candidates, writing endorsement letters, and attending many political rallies. However, I do have to say that this year's national political frenzy is unbelievable. People whom I have trusted for clarity and per- spective over the years have no clue right now as to how the nominations, votes, and processes will work for members of Congress or for the next President. It is alarming to me to think that we are so far out of sync with normality that it is hard to make realistic assessments and predictions. Some folks are saying that there are no choices. People who have voted party lines for years are now confused and frustrated with the entire political process. This is never a good set of circumstances for a country that has positioned itself as a world leader. On July 3rd, Liberty put on an event that they called their "Stars & Stripes Concert" in recognition of July 4th. The house was packed with over 700 in attendance. Many were wearing red, white, and blue in order to get a free piece of taffy... the stakes were high. As soon as Liberty arrived on stage, the excitement began to build. Many of you have witnessed concerts where you sensed the Holy Spirit in the room and there was awe and wonder surrounding each song. This July concert was different. While we still experienced the strong gospel message - a foundation for Liberty - there was also a sense of pride, patriotism, and hope that built with each song. Liberty sang many of the familiar ones: Battle Hymn of the Republic, God Bless America, etc. The audience responded with excitement and anticipation. I began to feel a sense of belonging and a respect for our country; my attitude changed to, "I really don't care who is running for President, right now I am just proud to be an American." The clapping, the standing ovations, the raised hands, and the tears told the story of a great gathering of Americans who were celebrating the birthday of their country. It is great to be affiliated with a ministry that appeals to so many different aspects of society. No, Liberty will never discontinue their presentation of the gospel and the challenge to live your life for Christ. The Lord uses this ministry to draw many to Him. That will be a staple in the ministry of Liberty. But, during these turbulent times for our country and for our world, it is rewarding to assemble with fellow Americans and reclaim the belief in God for our country. We truly do believe that God can bless America and will remain supreme no matter who is elected or chosen to lead our government. Let freedom ring throughout our land as we proclaim that we are a country founded on God. Rick Waitley Executive Director

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.(2 Chronicles 7:14)

This was the recipe for Israel to receive God's blessing at a time when they had turned their backs on Him. It is also applicable to an individual, a church, a ministry, or a country that feels like the Lord is far away. Another verse that gives the road to receiving all that God wants to give His own is:

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.(Philippians 4:19)

The key here is the verse ends with "in Christ Jesus." We must abide in Christ. We must follow His principles. I often think of the passage from 2 Chronicles when I think of my homeland, the United States of America, and the fear of God's hand being lifted off this great nation. There is hope. There is a way. It is found in the God of our fathers who keeps His promises.

So, let us: And, in turn, God says He will:1) Humble ourselves 1) Hear from heaven2) Pray 2) Forgive our sin3) Seek His face 3) Heal our land!!!4) Turn from wicked ways

That is a promise we can't afford to pass up. Let's do our part!

heal our land

PRAISE GOD PRAYER REQUESTS

“The "Stars & Stripes" Concert on July 3rd at Meridian Valley Shepherd Nazarene was a hugely successful and inspirational service. Over 700 people attended the evening in which we also celebrated the church's 100th birthday. Thanks to Doran Ritchey & Keith Waggoner for joining us and adding to the concert.

The prayer chain of Liberty family is effective. The Liberty bus began to lose antifreeze from a hose in the engine compartment and we knew we did not have time to repair and still make it to our concert on time, so we started the prayer chain. We really cannot explain how we made it, but for prayer. Thank you for going to the Lord on our behalf.“Our office has been putting extra effort into our website and social media while attempting to keep our communication fresh and user friendly. Be sure to go to www.libertyquartet.com and follow along on a regular basis.

The cruise sign-ups continue to sail along... We launch from and return to San Diego in about 5 months. All plans are set for an inspirational & worshipful experience.

Jim Best has been able to join us on some of our longer travel tours, and helps us out greatly with our driving. When you see him, please thank himfor his service.

“We are seeking the Lord's direction and guidance as we move in a timely manner towards hiring our next full-time singer and worker for Christ. We are grateful to several singers from other groups who have agreed to fill in while we search. We request your prayers for God's man.“Please remember Doug Wiley and family as they explore and determine his next employment and ministry avenues.

Pray for our nation's leaders; pray that they will look to the Lord for salvation and direction. God Bless America as she follows Him. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" (Psalm 33:12). "Pray for healing" (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Pray for our next recording, though no timeline has been set. We do know, however, that it is going to be an a cappella recording. We are gathering songs now and from start to finish this is an arduous yet deeply gratifying process.

Before our next publication of the newsletter, three of Liberty's children will be back in college. Conner Ellis (Paul & Kim's son) attends Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, ID; and Julianne & Nicholas Colangelo (Royce & Tammy's daughter and son-in-law) are both senior nursing students at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL. Pray for diligence, discipline and testimonies that honor God.

We are still lagging behind financially and ask that you go to the Lord, who owns the cattle on a thousand hills.
