The Metropolitan Municipality of Lima has added its Open Data Portal to the city’s main web page as part of its policy to promote transparency, citizen participation and collaboration in communities of users and the general public.
This initiative is a tangible sign of Lima’s willingness to share information in its most basic and simple from, so that users can analyze and transform it into more understandable formats or to develop applications using new technologies and machine-to-machine interfaces.
This initiative has been recognized as a "Best Practice Government 2012 - in the category of Transparency and Access to Information" and is part of the Action Plan of the Open Government Partnership Peru. With the help of Junar, Lima is setting the course for other major cities in Latin America and the World.
