WELCOME TO THE ARTIEST, PARTIEST WEEKEND OF THE YEAR – Thank you for showing up and stepping up to support one of this region’s brightest young organizations – Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Whether BIMA is your backyard arts playground, your cultural day trip destination, or a memorable stop in your travel adventures, you’re a big part of what’s made it a bountiful wellspring for those thirsting for authentic and beautiful arts, culture and humanities experiences.

The BIMA Bash! relies on the talents of outstanding artists, volunteers, staff, businesses, board, and community—and produces the rocket fuel that launches the museum the other 363 days a year. We love that you’re here because you want to create an extraordinary arts home for your family, friends, artists, students, community, and yourself. We know how much you care. What you might not know is that your deep love, support and involvement is quite literally shaping this organization as it defines itself.

As part of refining and refreshing our mission and vision, we’ve spent the last year listening to and learning from you. We understand you want a world-class regional arts museum AND a cultural hub, a classroom, a social center, a place for ideas, and a tide that can lift others. You’ve asked for a place that is open to all, excludes none, and pays special attention to our youngest and oldest arts appreciators. You support a home for ideas, imagination, creativity and discovery.

With that, we are proud to unveil a vision and mission inspired directly from the hearts and minds of our closest supporters. Fueled by creativity and collaboration, BIMA commits to building a world where art is essential to thriving communities. BIMA inspires curiosity, wonder and understanding by connecting people with the contemporary art and craft of the Puget Sound region.

The renewed mission and vision both affirms the beautiful principles on which BIMA was founded, and now also reflects the dynamic energy, the commitment to community, and the pulsing creativity that now distinguish this museum. Thank you for encouraging us to stretch our wings and commit ourselves to using these resources for the benefit of so many.

With gratitude and appreciation for your unwavering commitment and generosity,

Sheila Hughes Executive Director

Greetings AUCTION CHAIR

Our theme this year is paper: Books—and art books—are created from it. Words, trivial and critical, are scribed on it. Master works of art are bled into it. It is through the lens of this open-paged, endless opportunity, heart-felt gratitude that I thank each

and every one of you for the magic you enable through your generosity.

You ensure that BIMA, through the support of its incredibly talented staff, is able to be open free and producing the highest-quality programming 363 days of the year. From unsurpassed art exhibitions showcasing our region’s artistic wealth to educational offerings spanning children to elderly audiences, from the smARTfilm series to music and the Momentum Festival, BIMA produces world-class experiences, all of which provoke and inspire deeper conversations and community connections.

The BIMA Bash! is our biggest fundraising event of the year and is critical to the success of the museum. Please know that your financial contributions are directly enhancing, changing, and inspiring lives! Your support at this event helps to improve our programs and services for students, members, visitors and families in the region. In the past year alone, BIMA has supported more than 400 events and 60 field trips.

Thank you for showing up, sparkling with your presence and supporting this locally and nationally recognized and award-winning gem of a museum in our own backyard...

Warmest regards—and please give with an open heart!

Erica Beyer

HONOREE

Please join us in honoring Steve Davis at the annual BIMA Bash event. Steve is near and dear to BIMA. He is one of a handful of individuals who joined the founding Board of Directors at the request of Museum Founder, Cynthia Sears.

Recently retired from the board after serving the maximum of three terms (9 years), Steve was instrumental in the Museum’s original capital campaign, construction, launch, and continues to serve weekly shifts as a Docent as he has since the Museum’s opening in June 2013.

In addition to his advocacy for BIMA, he has been an incredible supporter of his community. We are thrilled to celebrate Steve and all he has contributed to Bainbridge Island and the greater Seattle region.

GUEST SPEAKER

Chasity Malatesta is currently a STEM teacher on Bainbridge Island, and has been a science instructor and diversity consultant for 15 years. Chasity provides advocacy and compassionate support for youth, especially those

students in communities who are traditionally underrepresented or underserved.

Chasity believes empowering young people to be self-reflective and use their talents to invest in their communities can change the world. She is a community connector that values authentic relationships and is energized by finding common ground with diverse people and ideas.

She found BIMA to be a place that allowed her to reflect upon culture, change, politics, and to build her own cultural competency. “BIMA is a sacred place for me here on Bainbridge Island. Taking time to see my femaleness, my blackness, my mother-ness reflected back at me through the art. This grounds my soul and provides me with footing that I am not alone. BIMA is home.˝
