To attain this award, an athlete

    must possess a multi-sport ability

for athletics as well as a dedication

to commit themselves to three or

    four seasons of participation. The

    athletes were also acknowledged

    The Kohler volunteer fire de-

    partment was officially organized

on February 9, 1914. The first

chief was Anton Brotz, Sr. The

first piece of fire apparatus was a

    hand drawn La France chemical

engine which took six men to pull

to the fire. The chemical engine

    was charged with sulphuric acid

and soda and had to be flushed out

and recharged after use. In 1920, a

    hand drawn ladder apparatus was

    added.

The first fire call for the newly

formed department was a grass fire

in Ravine Park on November 20,

    1914.

    In June, 1925 a 1,000 gallon per

    minute pump motorized Seagrave

    fire engine was purchased.

    The fire departments apparatus

has been updated over the years,

with the most recent being a 2013

    Pierce aerial/platform truck. The

    department also owns a 2004

    Pierce rescue truck, 1994 Pierce

    attack pumper, 1984 Pierce mini

pumper, 6x6 ATV, and a boat.

    The Kohler volunteer fire de-

    partment currently consists of 25

    active firefighters and 18

    social/honorary members. The ac-

    tive firefighters drill/practice at

least two times per month. All

member meet once a month for the

Baseball is back! Whether it be

Little League, high school, or the

    prosno other sports opening

day has quite the same impact on

the soul as this one. Lets play

    ball!

There is no better way to kick

off a season opener than with a

    win. The Lutheran/Kohler Cru-

saders did just that, with a con-

vincing 13-2 CLC victory over the

Random Lake Rams on the road

    Friday, May 30.

On the mound for the Crusaders

    were Paul Vicente, Calvin Ste-

    fanczyk and Noah Fink. Fink

struck out seven of nine batters

    during three innings of pitching.

    Combined, the pitchers struck out

    13 Rams players.

The bats were in full swing as

    Stefanczyk went 2-for-3 with two

walks, three RBIs and two runs

scored. Phil Case was 2-for-3 with

two walks, two RBIs and three

    runs. Fink scored twice.

    Hello again, everybody...Its a

    bee-yoo-tiful day for baseball.

    Harry Caray.

A beautiful day it was indeed,

    as Lutheran/Kohler routed Elkhart

Lake by a final score of 14-0 on

    Thursday, June 5.

    Pitching for the Crusaders was

    Calvin Stefanczyk, allowing for

only two hits and a walk with

    seven strikeouts.

    Connecting with the bat were

Phil Case with two hits and Paul

Vicente with two RBI and three

runs scored to lead the Crusaders

    in the hitting department.

    Lutheran Kohler 2, Oostburg 0

    A pitcher needs two pitches,

one theyre looking for and one to

    cross them up. Warren Spahn

    Calvin Stefanczyk had both on

June 9, as he threw for a shutout

with 12 strike-outs and three hits

as the Crusaders claimed the CLC

    win on the road.

Scoring in the first and last in-

    nings, Stefanczyk had the teams

    only RBI.

I ts time to put on your thinking

    caps for some baseball trivia.

Ready? Lets go. Who was the

first Major League player to pitch
