June 19, 2016 Announcements Flowers on the altar today are given to the glory of God and in honor of Jean Dingley s 90 th birthday by her family. Congratulations toChris & Liz McClure on the baptism of their son, William Christy McClure, on this, the 19 th day of June, 2016. Sincere condolences toPeggy Winters and family on the death of her son, Jeffrey Winters, on June 12, 2016. Pastors Coffee Scheduled If you are considering joining Longs Chapel United Methodist Church or interested in learning more about our transforming fellowship or our Methodist tradition, you are invited to join our pastors on Sunday, June 26, from 4 pm to 5:30 pm in #505 (mobile unit). The purpose of the Pastors Coffee is to provide guests, newcomers, and those interested in joining the church the opportunity to meet the pastor, ask any questions they might have, discover ways in which to engage in the life of the church, and learn what church membership means. At the Coffee you also will have the opportunity to sign up for a 6-week class called A Disciples Paththat will guide you in your next step along the path as a follower of Jesus. It is a wonderful opportunity for you to connect with other disciples and find support and encouragement as you continue to grow in your faith. Please sign up today for the Pastors Coffee by calling the church office. Childcare available upon request. The Global Leadership Summit is a two-day event (Aug. 11-12 at New Covenant Church) telecast LIVE from Willows campus near Chicago every August to hundreds of locations in North America. You are invited to join an expected 305,000 people committed to getting better as leaders in 2016. Reasons to attend: You are presented with a lot of opportunities to sharpen your skills and develop the people you lead. The Summit is a proven tool that produces compelling outcomes for leaders who attend. The hardest person you will ever lead is yourself. Cost: Longs Chapel only has a limited number of tickets ($50 each.) This is a wonderful opportunity! Once these tickets are gone (first come, first served), tickets can be purchased online with our church code (special discounted rate is $99 through June 28, then $129.) Regular pricing is $199. Call the church office for more information. If you have been on the Emmaus Walk, there is a special opportunity for you to help inmates experience Kairosthe Em- maus experience inside prison. This parable gives Christian fathers a paradigm to seek to emulate in relation to his children and to all people. No artist has captured that moment of the return of the prodigal son more powerfully than Rembrandt. Each shoe box represents an opportunity for a child to hear about Jesus and His love for them, and estimates are that each child will then share Jesus with 10 other members of his or her family or village.
