The Global Leadership Summit is a two-day event (Aug. 11-12 at New Covenant Church) telecast LIVE from Willow’s campus near Chicago every August to hundreds of locations in North America. We challenge all those between age 18 and 35 who have never donated to become life savers by donating on July 12. Christ gave His blood for you. Can ’t you spare a pint to save someone else? The theme of the altar setting today uses the image of Christian fatherhood given by Jesus in the parable of The Prodigal Son as the father receives his wayward son with open arms and unconditional love. This parable gives Christian fathers a paradigm to seek to emulate in relation to his children and to all people. No artist has captured that moment of the return of the prodigal son more powerfully than Rembrandt. Walk to Emmaus News: ATTENTION - The LC Emmaus Community Picnic scheduled on June 26 has been postponed until fall. The collection item for June is toys for boys. We would like to have a small car (like a matchbox car) or ball for each of 150 boxes for boys. Other fun choices include flashlights and extra batteries, fun duct tape, measuring tape, flattened water bottles etc. Please remember that any war themed toys such as play guns, army figures etc. are not allowed. As always, call the Jarrells if you have questions, 246-0331. DID YOU KNOW that the red and green boxes we distribute during the fall collection season for OCC are called GO boxes? GO stands for “Gospel Opportunities”. Each shoe box represents an opportunity for a child to hear about Jesus and His love for them, and estimates are that each child will then share Jesus with 10 other members of his or her family or village. Every shoe box you pack reaches 10 people with the Gospel. Isn’t that amazing! Part-time Maintenance/Custodial position available to work in the afternoons and every other weekend. Bring your folding chair. Children will need change of clothes and towel for water slide bouncy. Everything is free except food and it is very reasonable.
