President's Report

Welcome all,

Well we are coming to the end of our year, it’s time to renew our

memberships and elect a new committee.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all their

hard work during last year. I feel we have made some real

progress in the way things are done. I would like to thank all

committee members for their efforts to build a strong club.

I would especially like to thank Penny for her tireless work in

completely reforming the financial system. I think we all have a

clear picture of where the clubs assets are.

On a social level the central Coast chapter of A.M.C. thanked us

for our committed support of the Thunderbolt Rally. Three

members attended and had a great weekend. This event gets

bigger each year and proudly supports cystic fibrosis research.

Entries for the All Holden Day should be considered as this is the

25th year of the event and it will be a big event. There is about a

55% chance of Holden supplying a concept car this year, possibly

“Efijy,” negotiations are ongoing at this stage.

Lastly please consider taking up a committee role for next year

and help our club prosper. We can be a good team.

Thanks for your support over the last 18 months

Andrew

COMMITTEE MEETING 17th May 2010, continued

We are a not for profit organisation. Members to be notified and will vote on it at General

meeting. Treasurer prepared a budget for next year and stated an amount of $2,000 is

the most we can donate this year.

Dick is new Food Coordinator. Take the trailer steak and bacon to Chittaway and ask for RSVP for

numbers for food via text.

American Motor Cycle Club thanked us for our support.

Nomination forms to go into next newsletter.

Discussed donation to Lions Club and it goes to a dayout. New suggestions for donations were

Matt Setchell a 35 year old Holden lover who dived into his swimming pool on New Years

Day 2009 and became paralised from the neck down. Kincumber Daycare wanted a

smaller TV Careflight is American owned now. The widow of the biker who recently

passed away has no insurance.

The President stated everything should be transparent so there will be no problems. If people

don’t want to vote publically we can have a secret ballet.

We are looking for a new shed with a 12 months agreement suggestions East Gosford,

Brentwood Village and Berkeley Village as they provide safety.

There was discussion about paying for petrol to the person pulling the trailer. It has been done

previously particularly for long trips like All Holden Day.

Phone called received day after the meeting about a Holden V Ford Car Show in June Long

Weekend. The call referred to an email sent to us about it. Apparently the previous

Editor receives the emails and forwards them on. Unfortunately it was not received in

time for the meeting. It should be discussed who receives the emails, not sure how easy

it is to change this. It should be the secretary’s role.

Questions if the new Editor is back. Secretary to send email.

Vacant positions: President will not re-stand unopposed. Uniform coordinator not re-standing.

Event Coordinator will not re-stand for that positions, Club captain will stand down,

Secretary, Fundraiser not re-standing. So we need to get some new members on the

committee.

Swap. We should have no more big expenses probably need to get some good two-way radios,

tent, pickets and bunting. We should have a Swapmeet committee and look at putting

conditions of entry on tickets for the Swapmeet. Don said he had caps for the pickets.

Events – no run in June . Chitchester run Steak sandwiches $1.50 same as others.

Vince said he received a request for Club Registration from Ian Johnstone with a LX Hatch

standard. He has been in the club for 10 months approximately. There was discussion on

how the rules worked. We read from the constitution that you had to be a member for 12

months but the committee could decide otherwise. This allowed the scope for a written

application to be put before the committee to ensure the person would not bring the club

into disrepute by their actions in the car. As the letter was not tabled it was voted on to

approve club registration for Ian Johnstone at the next meeting when the letter was

tabled.

Meeting closed 8.45 pm approx

THE 50’sDuring the 1950s, Holden dominated the Australian car market. GM invested

heavily in production capacity, which allowed the company to meet increased post-

war demand for motor cars. Less expensive four-cylinder cars did not offer

Holden's ability to deal with rugged rural areas. 48-215 sedans were produced in

parallel with the 50-2106 coupé utility from 1951; the latter was known

colloquially as the "ute" and became ubiquitous in Australian rural areas as the

workhorse of choice. Production of both the utility and sedan continued with minor

changes until 1953, when they were replaced by the facelifted FJ model,

introducing a third panel van body style. The FJ was the first major change to the

Holden since its 1948 introduction. Over time it gained iconic status and remains

one of Australia's most recognisable automotive symbols.] A new horizontally-

slatted grille dominated the front-end of the FJ, which received various other trim

and minor mechanical revisions. Although little changed from the 48-215,

marketing campaigns and price cuts kept FJ sales steady until a completely

redesigned model was launched. At the 2005 Australian International Motor Show

in Sydney, Holden paid homage to the FJ with the Efijy concept car.

Holden's next model, the FE, launched in 1956; offered in a new station wagon

body style dubbed "Station Sedan" in the company's sales literature. Strong sales

continued in Australia, and Holden achieved a market share of more than 50

percent in 1958 with the revised FC model. This was the first Holden to be tested

on the new Holden Proving Ground based in Lang Lang, Victoria. The opening of

the Dandenong, Victoria, production facility in 1956 brought further jobs; by 1959

Holden employed 19,000 workers country-wide. To be continued

FE-FC Nationals

This year they were held at Orange and Mel Russen and I made our way there on

the Thursday before Easter. The trip to Orange was bathed in sunshine and apart

from a small overheating problem we made it there OK. I scalded my hand when I

checked the water and held my handout the window to keep it cool on the way

there.

We met up with Glenn and Tracy Mors who also were entered at the Nationals. The

Nationals gave us the opportunity to meet entrants as far away as Darwin and

renew old friendships. We all had a great time.

The weekend went really well with Glens Panel Van getting in the Top 40.

Considering there were over 164 FE’s and FC’s and the quality was the highest ever,

Glen’s Trophy was well deserved.

On the Sunday we met up with Dick Kearnan who dropping to say hello. On

Monday before the Nationals finished at least 150 vehicles drove down to Bathurst

and again met up with Dick who came in my FC and drove around the race circuit. It

was a fantastic feeling driving the FC with its speed and tremendous body roll, but it

was great to do two laps around the famous circuit. Great to see all the FE’s and

FC’s at the same time on the track. Dick took a movie camera and documented the

event and was most impressed with the acceleration, handling and breaking of my

FC (Ha Ha) and thinking of trading in his HR for one of these beauties.
