advocacy pieces this past month
with this Chamber supporting
the Ontario Chamberrsquos position
regarding the Ontario Retire-
ment Pension Plan the support
given to ONTC with their new
transition plan support of the
Cityrsquos creation of an Economic
Development Corporation and
finally the letter sent to the Min-
ister of Energy and other stake-
holders regarding our concern
over the government awarding
any new green energy contracts
President Lacourse has reached
out to a number of the media
and is pleased that there will be
some partnerships in the future
for potential weekly columns
for the chamber items
Congratulations went to the
organizers of Space Week in
October This will be the first
time our area has participated in
this international week the or-
ganizers have a full agenda with
an education day industry day
and community day on Oct 8 9

field at the Capital Centre and is

Week the committee is chang-
ing their format Instead of the
Monday being the kick-off with
the annual awards night the
Evening of Excellence Awards
will be the big finale to the

The President congratulated the
DIA on their announcement of
their events that are happening
during the Civic long weekend
in concert with Summer in the
Park The DIA is organizing
fantastic fun with Mayhem on
Main ndash dirt bike challenges a
Dodgeball competition with
Rage in the Cage Moonlight
Madness along with a number
of other free family fun events
during that weekend
Congratulations went to John
Strang and team at Summer in
the Park who have reached well
over 4500 wristbands sold in
the first month Even though
the individual ticket price has
now gone up to $35 + HST as
of June 1st the Chamber will
still honour bulk orders of 25 or
more wristbands to businesses
who still have yet to purchase
them for their staff at the $25 +
HST rate until June 30th What
a great way to thank your staff
for their support and hard work
all year long
Congratulations to all the par-
ticipants and volunteers for rais-
ing over $150000 at this yearrsquos
Relay for Life - in efforts to
fight cancer
Special thank you went to the
organizing committee of Armed
Forces Day last week was a
great event The static displays
were amazing and of course the
Snowbirds were an exciting
addition to the event Also that
day the PanAmParaPanAm
Torch Relay went through the
City thanks went to John
Strang who was the Chamberrsquos
torchbearer that day as well as
all the other torchbearers that

Experienced Graduate Back in North Bay Lindsey Gradeen and her spouse have recently relocated back to North Bay Lindsey lived in North Bay from 2007-2011 while completing her undergraduate degree in Geography of Regional Planning at Nipissing University In 2011 she moved to Kingston Ontario to pursue her Masterrsquos Degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a concentration in Health and Social Planning Life brought her to Fort McMurray Alberta to gain new graduate employment experience after graduation She worked as the Coordinator of Volunteer Resources for one of the largest hospitals in Alberta However her love of the North Bay community has brought her and her spouse back to the region Lindseyrsquos Graduate program at Queenrsquos University was recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) During her time at Queenrsquos she had the opportunity to expand her knowledge of
community development through taking part in innovative and challenging course work and professional opportunities presented to her Lindsey has experience facilitating events workshops and visioning exercises In 2013 she facilitated a visioning workshop with a client- a non-profit organization- which was trying to find innovative ways to address poverty in the community Her educational background has provided Lindsey with a strong understanding of topics impacting community development as well as hands-on experience working in the community of North Bay and Kingston to bring about positive results Lindsey has a strong background in research working closely with community stakeholders to build partnerships and collaboration and a keen interest in working closely with the public in front line services or through undertaking consultation processes Lindsey is a people person who finds it enjoyable and natural to interact with a diverse background of people She is a highly adaptable young professional who thrives in challenging situations where she is able to apply her compressive knowledge and outgoing hardworking personality to new situations Lindsey hopes to obtain a position which allows her to make a meaningful impact in social services community development and opportunities which support the future prosperous development of North Bay Lindsey can be contacted by email at lgradeen13gmailcom or telephone at 613-893-1520

2015 study on the participation of small and medium enterprises in federal procurement An SME study being conducted by the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME) of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) Some of you may recall the report Integral to the Economy Integral to Procurement that was released after the 2012 SME study The report identified challenges SMEs face with government procurement and the opportunities that could provide support for SMEs to do business with the federal government Since 2012 PWGSC has implemented SMART Procurement an initiative that has buyers engaging with suppliers in order to better align the request for a product or service with what industry can provide The department has also consolidated federal government tenders and related procurement information on buyandsellgcca to help industry make better business decisions The 2015 SME Study will assess PWGSCrsquos progress on the concerns raised by SMEs and will measure the impact of changes and services that have been implemented since 2012 It is anticipated that feedback from SMEs will guide future enhancements to procurement You can access the study here If you need additional info or clarification contact OSME at TPSGCEtudePMESMEStudyPWGSCtpsgc-pwgscgcca

Experienced Graduate Back in North Bay Lindsey Gradeen and her spouse have recently relocated back to North Bay Lindsey lived in North Bay from 2007-2011 while completing her undergraduate degree in Geography of Regional Planning at Nipissing University In 2011 she moved to Kingston Ontario to pursue her Masterrsquos Degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a concentration in Health and Social Planning Life brought her to Fort McMurray Alberta to gain new graduate employment experience after graduation She worked as the Coordinator of Volunteer Resources for one of the largest hospitals in Alberta However her love of the North Bay community has brought her and her spouse back to the region Lindseyrsquos Graduate program at Queenrsquos University was recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) During her time at Queenrsquos she had the opportunity to expand her knowledge of

Experienced Graduate Back in North Bay Lindsey Gradeen and her spouse have recently relocated back to North Bay Lindsey lived in North Bay from 2007-2011 while completing her undergraduate degree in Geography of Regional Planning at Nipissing University In 2011 she moved to Kingston Ontario to pursue her Masterrsquos Degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a concentration in Health and Social Planning Life brought her to Fort McMurray Alberta to gain new graduate employment experience after graduation She worked as the Coordinator of Volunteer Resources for one of the largest hospitals in Alberta However her love of the North Bay community has brought her and her spouse back to the region Lindseyrsquos Graduate program at Queenrsquos University was recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) During her time at Queenrsquos she had the opportunity to expand her knowledge of
community development through taking part in innovative and challenging course work and professional opportunities presented to her Lindsey has experience facilitating events workshops and visioning exercises In 2013 she facilitated a visioning workshop with a client- a non-profit organization- which was trying to find innovative ways to address poverty in the community Her educational background has provided Lindsey with a strong understanding of topics impacting community development as well as hands-on experience working in the community of North Bay and Kingston to bring about positive results Lindsey has a strong background in research working closely with community stakeholders to build partnerships and collaboration and a keen interest in working closely with the public in front line services or through undertaking consultation processes Lindsey is a people person who finds it enjoyable and natural to interact with a diverse background of people She is a highly adaptable young professional who thrives in challenging situations where she is able to apply her compressive knowledge and outgoing hardworking personality to new situations Lindsey hopes to obtain a position which allows her to make a meaningful impact in social services community development and opportunities which support the future prosperous development of North Bay Lindsey can be contacted by email at lgradeen13gmailcom or telephone at 613-893-1520

Experienced Graduate Back in North Bay Lindsey Gradeen and her spouse have recently relocated back to North Bay Lindsey lived in North Bay from 2007-2011 while completing her undergraduate degree in Geography of Regional Planning at Nipissing University In 2011 she moved to Kingston Ontario to pursue her Masterrsquos Degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a concentration in Health and Social Planning Life brought her to Fort McMurray Alberta to gain new graduate employment experience after graduation She worked as the Coordinator of Volunteer Resources for one of the largest hospitals in Alberta However her love of the North Bay community has brought her and her spouse back to the region Lindseyrsquos Graduate program at Queenrsquos University was recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) During her time at Queenrsquos she had the opportunity to expand her knowledge of
community development through taking part in innovative and challenging course work and professional opportunities presented to her Lindsey has experience facilitating events workshops and visioning exercises In 2013 she facilitated a visioning workshop with a client- a non-profit organization- which was trying to find innovative ways to address poverty in the community Her educational background has provided Lindsey with a strong understanding of topics impacting community development as well as hands-on experience working in the community of North Bay and Kingston to bring about positive results Lindsey has a strong background in research working closely with community stakeholders to build partnerships and collaboration and a keen interest in working closely with the public in front line services or through undertaking consultation processes Lindsey is a people person who finds it enjoyable and natural to interact with a diverse background of people She is a highly adaptable young professional who thrives in challenging situations where she is able to apply her compressive knowledge and outgoing hardworking personality to new situations Lindsey hopes to obtain a position which allows her to make a meaningful impact in social services community development and opportunities which support the future prosperous development of North Bay Lindsey can be contacted by email at lgradeen13gmailcom or telephone at 613-893-1520

Experienced Graduate Back in North Bay Lindsey Gradeen and her spouse have recently relocated back to North Bay Lindsey lived in North Bay from 2007-2011 while completing her undergraduate degree in Geography of Regional Planning at Nipissing University In 2011 she moved to Kingston Ontario to pursue her Masterrsquos Degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a concentration in Health and Social Planning Life brought her to Fort McMurray Alberta to gain new graduate employment experience after graduation She worked as the Coordinator of Volunteer Resources for one of the largest hospitals in Alberta However her love of the North Bay community has brought her and her spouse back to the region Lindseyrsquos Graduate program at Queenrsquos University was recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) During her time at Queenrsquos she had the opportunity to expand her knowledge of
community development through taking part in innovative and challenging course work and professional opportunities presented to her Lindsey has experience facilitating events workshops and visioning exercises In 2013 she facilitated a visioning workshop with a client- a non-profit organization- which was trying to find innovative ways to address poverty in the community Her educational background has provided Lindsey with a strong understanding of topics impacting community development as well as hands-on experience working in the community of North Bay and Kingston to bring about positive results Lindsey has a strong background in research working closely with community stakeholders to build partnerships and collaboration and a keen interest in working closely with the public in front line services or through undertaking consultation processes Lindsey is a people person who finds it enjoyable and natural to interact with a diverse background of people She is a highly adaptable young professional who thrives in challenging situations where she is able to apply her compressive knowledge and outgoing hardworking personality to new situations Lindsey hopes to obtain a position which allows her to make a meaningful impact in social services community development and opportunities which support the future prosperous development of North Bay Lindsey can be contacted by email at lgradeen13gmailcom or telephone at 613-893-1520

2015 study on the participation of small and medium enterprises in federal procurement An SME study being conducted by the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME) of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) Some of you may recall the report Integral to the Economy Integral to Procurement that was released after the 2012 SME study The report identified challenges SMEs face with government procurement and the opportunities that could provide support for SMEs to do business with the federal government Since 2012 PWGSC has implemented SMART Procurement an initiative that has buyers engaging with suppliers in order to better align the request for a product or service with what industry can provide The department has also consolidated federal government tenders and related procurement information on buyandsellgcca to help industry make better business decisions The 2015 SME Study will assess PWGSCrsquos progress on the concerns raised by SMEs and will measure the impact of changes and services that have been implemented since 2012 It is anticipated that feedback from SMEs will guide future enhancements to procurement You can access the study here If you need additional info or clarification contact OSME at TPSGCEtudePMESMEStudyPWGSCtpsgc-pwgscgcca
