ALPAUGH BRANCH LIBRARY – JUNE 2015

• Week 1: We started of the month preparing the children for SRP by doing Hero Sticks.

• Week 2: SRP begins! Kids did Father’s Day card. They enjoyed the book: How to be a Superhero! Also, we timed there Superhero speed by seeing who could build a toilet paper pyramid fastest!

• Week 3: Kids created Super Hero Cuff’s. We read, Do Superheroes Have Teddy Bears Too? Kids played Strike Out the Villains, and took down many villains.

• Week 4: Kids created Superhero Buddies which they loved! We read The Amazing Adventures of Bumblebee Boy. Kids enjoyed playing Villains Ice-breaker, where they had to figure out what Superhero they were and who was their villain.

DINUBA BRANCH LIBRARY – JUNE 2015

• June 16 was the first day of the Summer Reading program! Craft day was on Tuesday. Crafts included: Create your own Super Hero and what’s your super hero’s powers?, Dress up as a super hero, and sidewalk chalk drawings of super heroes and Super hero buddies.

• On Wednesday’s we had performers. The Magician, and the Wild Child Adventures Programs were enjoyed by all.

• Children and teens enjoyed the Super Hero movies.

• This summer we also have an Adult Summer Reading program.

EARLIMART BRANCH LIBRARY – JUNE 2015

• Kids enjoyed doing many super hero crafts this month, along with watching movies and playing the Wii.

• June 11th we did our Fathers day cards

• June 18 was our Summer reading program kickoff date. We enjoyed Native American dance learned interesting facts from different tribes, ways they weave, games they have at pow wows, kids enjoyed joining in at the end.

• June 25 we did our super hero capes from old t-shirts and cuffs. Looking forward to finish off our costume in the month of July.

EXETER BRANCH LIBRARY – JUNE 2015

Exeter’s Summer Reading Program is Up! Up! And Away! During Week 1, we kicked off the summer reading program with Exeter’s Mayor, 4-H Robotics, and a Magician at the Exeter City Park!

During Week 2, we hosted Exeter Hobbies and a Reptile Show!

During Week 3, we had Batman and Bat Girl tell us about their Bat Cave’s library and an athletics program.

A Little Critter or Little Sister stuffed animals were given away to the first 150 children who registered.

We have 166 children (ages 3-12), 12 teens (ages 13-17) and 39 adults (18 and over) registered for the Summer Reading Program. Twelve children & teens have read 1,000 pages.

An Exeter business, Just Sprouted Juice Bar and Healthy Café, held a healthy eating workshop for our adult summer reading program.

IVANHOE BRANCH LIBRARY-JUNE 2015

This month was busy with the kids out of school. Our SRP started on June 18 with our first performer “The Riata Ranch Cowboy Cowgirls”. They did rope tricks with the kids and gave each one a rope of their own.

We’ve had 19 sign-ups so far this month.

The movies that we watched this month were “Madagascar 3”, “Monsters Inc.”, “Scooby Doo & Friends” and “Sponge Bob Our Of Water”.

The Crafts that we made were” Father’s Day Superhero Cards”, “Superhero Cuffs” and “Superhero Buddies”.

The kids played Wii games all month. Their favorites are “Super Mario Bros.” and “Just Dance”. They also played “Wii Sports”.

• June 17th started the Summer Reading Programs!

• Had 2 programs in June• 1st signed up & did crafts.• 2nd “Bubble Guy!”

• June Crafts; Super hero cuff, super hero buddies…

• Two school visits• Signed 6 Teens up for

SRP!

OROSI BRANCH LIBRARY – JUNE 2015

June 12th kicked off the Summer Reading Program! Craft days were not limited to Fridays and included super hero paper bag puppets, Super hero sticks, Father’s Day super hero cards, Super hero wrist cuffs, and Super hero buddies.

Kids were able to have their picture taken as Spiderman!

Preschool Story time continues on Wednesday mornings and Super hero movies are enjoyed by all on Wednesday afternoons.

Board games are always popular and we had a full house on the 26th for the magic show!

SPRINGVILLE BRANCH LIBRARY – JUNE 2015

• Summer Reading 2015, EVERY HERO HAS A STORY, started off with a “Pow”! “Bam”! “Boom”!

• Guest Heroes included, Darwin, the diabetic sensitive service dog with his masters, Laura and Julia Inestroza, Timothy James, funny and masterful magician with the “TIM SHOW” and our firefighters from the Springville Fire Department. Although our hero firefighters were covered up with community emergencies and weren’t able to attend at the last minute, we still honored them with stories and fire-safety drills!

• Super Hero crafts featured this month included: decorated favorite Super Hero popsicle sticks, Super Hero arm bands, Father’s Day cards for out Super Hero Dads and Batman and Green Hornet paper bag puppets!

STRATHMORE BRANCH LIBRARY – JUNE 2015

• Tulare County Library summer reading, “EVERY HERO HAS A STORY” has provided a fun and busy month. Over 216 Strathmore children and adults attended the 4 programs this June. Special guests included Mr. Travis Brown, Strathmore Elementary Principal, Darwin the diabetic sensitive service dog with his masters Laura and Julie Inestroza, spectacular magician, Timothy James and our emergency heroes, Imperial ambulance.

• June crafts included “Hero” based themes. We made popsicle stick hero characters, decorated hero arm bands, toilet paper roll hero characters, Super Hero Dad Father’s Day cards and 4th of July decorated rockets!

• Strathmore children are becoming “Super Hero” readers this summer!

THREE RIVERS BRANCH LIBRARY – JUNE 2015

• Community Program:• Carol Clum did a wonderful

program about our local California Quail “Devoted Fathers, Brood Patches, Talking Eggs and Their Mortal Enemy the Cooper’s Hawk”.

• June was a very busy month with the beginning of our summer reading program. We had two great programs “Center Stage Strings” and “Tim the Magician”

• Our Crafts this month were terrific:• Super Hero Sticks• Father’s Day Super-Hero Cards• Super Hero Cuff’s• Super Hero Buddies

• We’ve registered more than 30 adults, 70 teens, 240 tweens,

• and 1,100 children for reading logs so far!

• Free lunch for children and teens provided by Fresno EOC all summer.

• Serving 45 to 75 lunches each day!

Every Hero has a Story

• Week One, signups for summer reading program with 53 children making a commitment to read during the summer. Book bags, teen and children’s reading logs were handed out. The first craft of the Summer Reading Program was just in time for Father’s Day.

• Week Two, busy, busy, busy! We were treated to a great performance by “Tim the Magician” who dazzled us with his wit and magic. The Teen magic Tournament also starts this week.

• During Week 3, Pictures were taken of our local kid super hero's after making there super hero power bracelets. Also during week three, children were encouraged to draw there favorite super hero for our poster contest.

• 53 children enrolled for our summer reading program.

• This year 12 teens signed up for our SRP 2015.
