They were our guests overnight from Sunday, May 14 through Saturday, May 20. Family Promise provided comfy Aero air mattresses for our guests as well as for the overnight volunteers. Evening hosts had fun playing soccer outside, losing numerous games of Uno, as well as building a Minecraft Lego kit. The guests were transported to a day program at Zion Lutheran Church in Egg Harbor City where the children were picked up and taken to school. Overall, it was a great success for our first week of hosting with no major problems aside from a shortage of volunteers. The official mission of Family Promise is to help homeless and low- income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. A special thanks to all the volunteers who either made dinner or hosted an evening and played games with the children, washed linens or all the volunteers who slept over at the church. Thanks are also due to the generosity of our parishioners; we were well stocked with food, bedding, and medical supplies. Additionally, thanks to St. Vincent de Paul Regional School in Mays Landing, who donated various desserts that were shared by all each day. continued on page 2 Mark your Calendars! Dear Sisters & Brothers in Christ,

Soon-to-be summer greetings to all!

As the summer approaches, excitement

fills the air and there is much talk of get-

togethers, picnics and BBQs, and even

vacation plans! My prayer is that each

and every one of you has a happy and

safe summer. I offer a friendly reminder

that Sunday Masses continue regularly

at both 8 & 10 a.m. throughout the

summer months. In addition, we still

offer another weekly opportunity for worship on Wednesdays, as

our healing services continue at 10:30 a.m. Please continue to join

us in worship.

Plans are in the works for additional fellowship activities, as well

as some opportunities for Christian Education this

summer. Additionally, we are scheduled to host Family Promise

again in July. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for

information about our annual outdoor Mass and parish picnic

planned for the fall.

SMAS will remain an active and faithful community this

summer. Please do join us in whatever ways you can. After all,

each of us contributes to the work that was begun in Christ Jesus

that we are called on to continue in our lives. I look forward to

worshipping and enjoying times of fellowship with you in the

warm months to come!

Blessings, Fr. Terry+

Greetings from the Senior Warden

Summer is around the corner! We have had a busy Spring here at SMAS. We hosted a Diocesan Convention Meeting with our fellow Episcopal area churches. We opened our church to our first Family Promise Guests. The Diocesan Stewardship Meeting will also be here at SMAS in June.

God's work and our spiritual calling never goes on break. As we approach the summer season please be diligent with your prayers about your time, talents and what you feel God has called you to do to help SMAS thrive and grow.

I would personally like to thank everybody who gives their unselfish time and hearts to make St.Mark and All Saints the welcoming, warm caring community that we are.

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various form."-1Peter 4:10

Faithfully yours, Vicki Sharp

Keeping our promise continued from page 1

We are also very grateful to the church members who cooked delicious meals including homemade soups, chicken parmesan, Sloppy Joes, and homemade baked mac n’ cheese. Family Promise has had more than 180,000 volunteers across the United States. Working together, they provide temporary housing, meals, and services to more than 50,000 family members annually since 1986. They mentor at-risk families. They teach financial literacy. They help find jobs and affordable housing. They create programs to meet specific needs in their communities. And they advocate for public policies that alleviate poverty and promote the economic stability of low-income families. Our church is committed to hosting again the week of July 16, October 1, and December 3. None of this is possible without the commitment of our church members to volunteer! All help is greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer, you can reach Shelly Hartman at 609-418-9388, or Faith Penrose at [email protected], or 609-705-1701.

Special thanks to all who helped and/or supported Family Promise in May. However you helped--big or small--it is appreciated greatly. Your time and talents certainly helped make this experience successful.  We will host Family Promise again in July. There are many opportunities to sign up to help out in so many ways. Please prayerfully consider helping us help others this July. Sign-up information is located in the lobby.  -Fr. Terry

I still collect aluminum cans, foil, pans, etc as well as old retired grills and parts, copper, lead, bronze – “BUT” it seems people have forgotten!

Thanks to Dave Martin for being a continuous contributor.  Let’s Go! Save that one can or save until you get a bag full.  Help fill up that blue recycling can on the outside porch behind the parish hall.  P. S.  Thank you to the Galloway Elks for their support.

Columbarium SurveyDead men and women don’t tell tales, so while you can, let SMAS know if you are interested in learning more about reserving a space in the Columbarium, or working on the planning committee. Look for a survey soon!
