JULY 2020 • #158 ELK-O-GRAM • Volume 42, Issue 4 Members all, ELKS LODGE #158 IS BACK IN ACTION! It has been over 4 months since our doors closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but with the Phase 4 Guidelines recently issued, it allows us to open for business (with restrictions) on Friday, June 26 th . We hope you will come out and enjoy spending time with members and friends who you may have not seen since we closed. House Chairman Bobby Edwards is planning a Fish & Chips dinner for Friday night - 5 to 9 p.m. with our new cook Otis Caudle, Ray Bensko & Crew in the kitchen. Please see the Elk-O-Gram for Kitchen and Walnut Room hours of operation. The lodge has a new menu which will reflect price increases associated with current costs of food and beverage. Video gaming machines should be in operation if the State turns them on in time. The officers and I want to thank everyone for their understanding, patience, and support of the Lodge during the last few months. Thanks to our members who have paid their dues, and if you have not paid, please do so as soon as possible because we don’t want anyone to have to pay a reinstatement fee of $60 in addition to membership dues. We also want to thank those members who have taken the opportunity during this down-time to clean and pre- pare the lodge/grounds for reopening. There have been some changes in the seating arrangements in the Walnut Room, Banquet Room, and the outdoor patio & deck to accommodate the IDPH capacity restrictions. We encourage everyone to wear a mask un- less a health issue would prohibit its use. Masks and hand sanitiz- ing stations will be readily available for your conven- ience. Social distancing is encouraged. Phase 4 guidelines/instructions will be posted in all areas of the lodge. Sunday Fundays start on July 5 th (4 to 7 pm) and will be open to members & guests, and food will be available for pur- chase. Our next membership meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 5 th and an Orientation/Initiation for new members will be held on Wednesday, August 19 th . If you have not received your card or a spouse card, please let me know. We are always welcoming new members and love to have them part of the Elk Family. Again, thank you for being so patient during this time of uncertainty. ELKS LADIES #158

By Maxine Johnson, President

Pending any changes there will be a Ladies meeting

on Thursday, July 2nd at 7 p.m.

A huge thank you to Sandy Begue and Norine Rodier for their

days (weeks) working in the Ladies storeroom. Every item was

put in totes and labeled. Dishes, linens, candlesticks were among

many items washed and stored. Ladies go down and see the

room; you will be amazed! Also, a thank you to John, Jeff and Jan

for their assistance.

To the ladies who purchased tickets for the Day of Decadence

(Ladies Spa Day). Diane Holler suggested we can return your

money; you can donate to the Ladies or hold the tickets until we

reschedule the event. Let Diane at 899-1622 or Maxine at 544-

5712 know what you decide.

Tammy Gumble is hoping to have a fall style show. Of course,

everything is up in the air for now, but Tammy is ready. I’m sure

we are looking forward to an afternoon of styles, lunch, drinks

and companionship.

The winning ticket for the Playground Equipment raffle will be

drawn by Diann Harbauer at our meeting.

Ladies come join us for our meeting. We have been an outstand-

ing organization for 40 years but to continue, we need your help

and support. We welcome any suggestions for the coming year.

We have always supported our Lodge and will continue to do so.

God Bless – See you July 2nd. Please welcome Vice-President Diann

Harbour, Secretary Carolyn Randall and Treasurer Judy Matson.

SPRINGFIELD CARES SOLDIER MAILING

At this time we are able to begin meeting again every third Tuesday

at 6PM at the TRN Club to pack and ship care packages to soldiers

from our area serving overseas. We are excited to be back at our

“home base” to get these packages out to our soldiers. Thank you to

all who helped throughout the last few months, who were able to

help send packages during the stay-at-home order. If you would like

to help with the Springfield Cares Soldier Mailing, please contact Alice

Beck at [email protected]

Contact Bill Beck at 217-836-7003 or spring-

[email protected] for any questions regarding the

brick memorial/dedication.

We are looking forward to the Lodge reopening this month and are

excited to serve our members again. We will be following the guide-

lines issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health to keep our

members and employees safe. The guidelines can be found here:
