Better Things Ahead
"But, beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation ..." Hebrews 6:9
Legendary college football coach, Mack Brown, coached the Texas Longhorns from 1998-2013. During his 16-year career at The University of Texas, he compiled a record of 158 wins and 48 losses. He enjoyed six top ten finishes, went to the national championship game twice, and won the coveted title of national champion in 2005. Following the Horns’ thrilling championship victory over USC in January of 2006, Coach Brown gave the most important speech his team could ever hear. Amidst the cheers and jubilation in the victorious locker room, he quieted the team and spoke these powerful words,
“Finally, this is the most important thing I want you to hear tonight. Remember that we love you. Be proud of what you have accomplished and enjoy this moment. Let this be a great thing in life, but don’t let it be the best thing that ever happens in your life. Go on from here, be great husbands and great dads, and make a difference.”
Mack encouraged his players to keep moving forward in life. He wanted them to know that there are even better things in store for them as they go on to excel in marriage, family, and life. That’s what the Lord is saying to us in His Word. Our best days are not behind us! The future for a Christian is as bright as the promises of God! There are better things ahead as we keep our eyes on Jesus.
Maybe your life is going great right now … or maybe you are broken down in the ditch. Regardless, the beautiful thing about the Christian life is the hope we have in Jesus. One of my favorite verses is Romans 15:13, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” When the God of hope is your God, better things are always just ahead.
If you feel like your best days have passed you by, think again. God promises better things for those who know Jesus Christ. He wants to use your life this day to make a difference for the Kingdom. He wants to bless you and minister through you until He takes you to glory.
The Apostle Paul reminds us of what’s in store for those who are His, “But just as it is written, "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM" (1 Corinthians 2:9).
No matter what you may be facing today, be encouraged. The Lord is not done with you yet. And when He is done, you will get a greater promotion than your mind can fathom! Truly, better things are just ahead!
Love you,
Pastor Gary Wheeler

Ladies June Fruit Focus Kindness
Kindness. . . More than Words Kindness is more than kind words—it flows to others through our actions. Kindness has its root in humility. One can only behave in a sincere kind manner only once they are disposed of themselves.
We must purpose in our hearts not to be part of the cruelty in our church and world. Rather, we must be sensitive to the needs of people, showing kindness to those we serve — to friends and enemies alike.
May we resolve, in our cultivation of the fruit of kindness, to seek the inexhaustible resources of the gentle, yet dynamic Holy Spirit whom God has so graciously poured out on us to manifest kindness.
For it is “not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty” (Zechariah 4:6).
