Everyday Stewardship
What power lies in a name? Have you ever met a "David," "Holly," or "Jack" and said, "They don't look like a David, Holly, or Jack"? Sometimes our name actually adds something to our per-son. Peculiar people sometimes have peculiar names. Some people of tremendous strength have names that we deem strong as well. Sometimes we give nicknames to people because of some at-tributes they exhibit. In the Bible, names mean a lot. Saul changes his name to Paul when he converts. Adam means "man," as in the first man. Eve means "to live" or "to breathe." Elizabeth took great care to name her son John as God commanded, even if other family members did not understand why such a unique name not found in their lineage. It was a unique name for a child who had a unique future of preparing the way for the Messiah. We have our baptismal names, our surnames, our Confirmation names, and our maiden names. But all disciples of Jesus also bear the same name: Christian. People may wonder what does a Da-vid, Holly, or Jack really look like, but they should never wonder what a Christian looks like. Un-fortunately, too often those who bear this name don't resemble the characteristics embodied in the name. Simply, a Christian looks like Christ. A Christian acts like Christ. A Christian truly is Christ to a world that seeks to uncover the true meaning of his name. Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

Progress of The Feasibility Study
The results of the recent feasibility study regarding the capital needs of all the parishes that support Seton were completed at the end of May. The overall results of the survey were positive. There is high support for most of the projects proposed. Parishioners have a great love for their churches and the school buildings and they want to see them maintained and upgraded. This can only be a blessing for the future. Right now, we are seeking input from the Diocese of Peoria, so that we know their wishes before we move forward with our plans. As soon as we get diocesan input, there will be a mailing sent out to every parishioner giving a more detailed summary of what the study shows and how we plan to proceed with the project.

Social Concerns Needs Your Assistance
One of our bigger projects each year is to help purchase school supplies for some of the students at Seton Catholic. Unlike the public schools in our area, the Catholic schools do not participate in the First Day Fund program. On the weekend of July 7/8 after all Masses, we will be asking parishioners to sign up to shop for school supplies for 35 Seton students who need special help. This year, we will also be providing supplies for students at Our Lady of Grace in East Moline. Rather than asking you to shop for all of the supplies for a specific student, you will be asked to shop for larger quantities of 1 to 4 specific items, e.g. 160 #2 pencils or 15 boxes of 24-count crayons or a backpack and red correcting pencils, etc. You will have two weeks to shop. Supplies must be returned to church the weekend of July 21/22. They will be packed according to student and delivered to Seton on July 23. If you are interested in shopping for supplies, but will be unable to attend Mass @ CTK the weekend of July 7/8, please contact Mary Tiernan @ 738-6438 or Kathy Barrett @ 792-1985. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
