The Peter’s Pence Collection is taken up worldwide to sup-
port the most disadvantaged – victims of war, oppression,
natural disasters and others in need of emergency assis-
tance. Pope Francis has asked us to “care for those who are
in need of attention, understanding and help, to bring them
the warm closeness of God’s love through tangible actions
of sensitivity, of sincere affection and of love.” The Holy
Father uses the Peter’s Pence Collection to strengthen dio-
ceses, religious orders and struggling communities of faith
when they need it most.
opresión, desastres naturales y otras personas necesitadas
necesitan.
13TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
This week, both the Gospel and first reading affirm the healing
and life-giving power of God’s love. Yet, we experience that death,
suffering and pain are a very real part of life. Many find themselves
asking: “Where is God?” The death and resurrection of Jesus is the
assurance that God is with us in the midst of pain, suffering and
even death and bringing us to new life. How can we hold others in
their pain and suffering to help them to trust in God? Who needs
the witness of your faith and love this week?
