CBM PRAYERLINE

CANADAWe lament the grave injustice and deep pain endured by the Aboriginal community and pray for more steps in reconciliation with today’s release of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s heart wrenching final report finding “residential schools that removed Aboriginal children from their homes, subjecting many of them to substandard education, malnutrition, abuse, illness and even death was a key part of a government-led policy that amounted to cultural genocide.” Pray for healing, hope, and a new path forward in compassion, understanding, and new relationships.

GERMANYCBM Field Staff Lewis and Felain Lam pass along the following note: “Praise the Lord, we had five brothers/sisters baptized recently. May the Lord keep them and protect them. We reach our one year milestone [ministering among the large number of Chinese university students in Germany] in June. There are lots of needs in two cities, Goettingen and Kassel; may the Lord grant us wisdom, love and a humble heart to continue to minister.”

INDIAWhile May is usually the hottest month in India, an intense heat wave has gripped the country, taking the lives of over 2,300 people so far. Pray for all those struggling to cope, especially the poor, ill and homeless who are most impacted. May the monsoon rains arrive and bring the necessary relief.

Wee Ones CampaignSussex Baptist Church is taking part in the Sussex Pregnancy Care Centre’s Wee Ones Campaign 2015 which began May 10th and runs through to June 21st (Father’s Day). By filling a bottle with cash, cheque or change, you are helping to provide free counseling, maternity and baby supplies and a hand of friendship to men and women in crisis. Thank You!

Music NightPlease join us Sunday, June 14th at 7pm for an evening of great music and fellowship. Our special guests are Madison Rice, Callie Celeste (acc. by Al Smith), Lauren McDermott (acc. by Al Smith), Step By Step, Cyril MacNeil, Jennifer and Mike McNamara, St. Mark’s Anglican Church group. Free will offering to “Relief for Nepal Earthquake (Red Cross).

Camp Tulakadik FundraiserThis year the floor in the Dining Hall has had to be redone. Thus far a breakfast was held to help offset partial cost of having the floor redone. There is still a significant amount to be paid off. We are asking you as members of Sussex Baptist to take on as a project the remainder of the cost of the floor. Whatever we raise as a church family will be matched by an anonymous donor to a maximum of three thousand dollars. In essence we could raise 6,000.00 to pay off the floor! The projected cost of the remainder of the floor payment is approximately 6,000.00. Your donations can be given to Alfie Smith, Ken Reicker or Andrew Hopper. Please make your cheque out to Camp Tulakadik. Please do not write on your cheque that this is for the floor project. If you place cash in your envelope please make sure your name and address is on the outside of the envelope so a receipt can be issued for your donation.  All money collected from the church will go directly toward the cost of the floor. Receipts will be issued by Camp Tulakadik. Please have your donations to us by the end of June.

Father’s DayWe are only a couple of weeks away from Father’s Day and on this special day we all honor our Fathers whether they are still with us or have passed away. We do this by sending a card, giving a gift, placing flowers on a grave or any number of other ways.

For the next 2 weeks, June 7 and 14th the Gideons will have Father’s Day cards and In Memory cards available. A display with these cards will be set up in the Foyer. Please feel free to take one of these cards and donate to the Gideons. By doing so, you will be able to place Bibles in your father’s honor or in his memory. What a way to honor our Fathers – in a manner that has eternal value.

Thank you for your continued support of the Gideon Ministry.
