Did you know you can create Found Poems by taking words and phrases found in

another text and reorganizing them?

• Found Poems are poems made from words that are “found” in other forms of

print. Look around your house for different kinds of text: cookbooks,

instruction manuals, food labels, flyers, etc.

• Choose words that stand out to you. Using paper or typing, turn the words and

phrases you FOUND into a poem by arranging them in different ways until you

are happy with the result.

• Decorate or illustrate your poem if you like.

The advantage of found poems is that "you don't start from scratch. All you have to do

is find some good language and improve it."

Fill out one reflection for Speaking and Listening, Writing and Representing and Reading and

Viewing.
