epuis un certain temps déjà, lesmembres des régions d’Ottawa etde Montréal ont remarqué la mul-

titude d’activités sociales organisées parles membres de la ville de Québec. Il y aplusieurs raisons pour leur succès dans laparticipation et dans l’organisation de cesactivités sociales Porsche. D’abord, il y al’enthousiasme et le fait que plusieurs desmembres de la région contribuent active-ment à partager leurs idées ainsi qu’àl’organisation des événements. Chapeau!

En planifiant le calendrier, nous avonsremarqué une augmentation d’activitéssociales organisées pour la régiond’Ottawa. Depuis plusieurs années, PaulBrassard notre directeur des activitéssociales avait planifié plusieurs genresd’événements pour les gens de la région.Mais se porter volontaire à long termeuse son homme et Paul a mentionné qu’ilvoulait remettre la relève à quelqu’und’autre. Merci Paul pour ton dévoue-ment. Au souper mensuel du moisdernier, Hélène Thomas a accepté le défide former le comité social d’Ottawa. Ellea déjà commencé les rouages d’une ran-donnée bateau/souper, une soiréesouper/mystère. Bravo Hélène! La balleest lancé aux membres de la région d’en-courager les efforts de l’organisatrice.

Jean-Robert s’est informé descoordonnés nécessaires pour publier pho-tos et article dans la revue avant sondépart. Il a soumis un article et environ150 photos de son voyage en Floride.Elles sont incroyables, malheureusement,je n’ai pas la place pour toutes les publier.Merci pour ta contribution.

or some time now, Rennsportmembers in the Ottawa andMontréal areas have noticed the

hive of club social activity in the QuébecCity region. There are a lots of reasonsfor their enthusiastic success withPorsche club social activities, but the keyis the fact that they have a group of folkswho are willing to step forward andcontribute their ideas and their time.

We have been working on the calen-dar on the facing page and we noticed awelcome increase in the number ofsocial activites being announced for theOttawa area. For some time now, theOttawa social chair Paul Brassard, hasworked very hard for the folks in thisarea. Like many long term volunteers hewas beginning to feel the strain. It tookonly a few words on Paul’s behalf at thelast dinner meeting for Helen Thomas tostep foward and offer her assistance informing an Ottawa social committee.Looks like this lady meant what she saidas there is both a boat cruise/dinner,and a mystery dinner night now in theworks. Great stuff Helen and Paul. It’snow up to the members in the capitalregion to support you by attending andenjoying your events

Jean-Robert tookit upon himself to approach us prior tothis trip to Florida to learn what isrequired for an Auspuff article. famous TV show, this month’s columnis brought to you by the letter C andthe letter I.

The letter C stands for Charity. ThisJune our two events to raise money forcharity are the Concours d’Élégance inQuebec and the Charity Drive in Mont-Tremblant. There was an excellent arti-cle on the Concours in last month’sAuspuff but I will add that the event isin a beautiful location and early June isa great time of the year in Quebec. Thisalone will be well worth the drive. Abonus is that organizer John Kennedyhas some novel additions to theConcours agenda.

On the 29th of June, Rennsport andLe Circuit Mont Tremblant will be host-ing the second annual Charity Drive.Participants will receive a groundschool theory session followed by achance to drive around Le Circuit witha Rennsport instructor in their car.Later they will have opportunities toride in many of the instructor’s cars. Allof this track time will be complimentedwith a great meal as well as variousgoodies. The idea is to attract moneyfrom outside of our membership. I amsure that many of our members havebeen asked at a various times to con-tribute to their accountant’s, lawyers ora friend’s favorite charity. Now wouldbe the time to return the favour. found a novel way to generate funds forour favorite charity, Fondation CharlesBruneau. Phil had intended to fix some cos-metic damage to his track car, however hefound that there was a problem with thepaint and he didn’t have time to strip all ofthe layers of paint off his car. Covering hiscar with a Mac-Tack like vinyl turned out tobe a quick, temporary solution. With thisfresh white surface, an idea presented itselfcourtesy of Al Carbone. For a small fee youcan sign you name or some short phrase onhis car. During the refreshment period atour last track event he raised almost $800.The car will be at several events includingCrescent Street.

The letter “I” stands for insurance. Wesign lots of waivors. These are a necessarypart of the insurance coverage required forall of our events. Failure to sign results incoverage that is null and. Lately I haveanswered many questions about our insur-ance. You should known that many answerscan be found on the PCA web-site. All ofthe information is located in the Admin partof the member services and contacts sectionof the site. The PCA policy covers a lot butit will not cover damage to you car whileyou are on track. Many track regulars havehad an annex added to their policy toMake sure that their insurance companywill cover the coast of any damage repairs. Ihave a track promo flyer that explains theprogram. Should you want a copy to showyour insurance company, please send me ane-mail.

La lettre « C » débute le mot CHARITÉ.Le mois de juin nous amène deux événe-ments dont le but est d’amasser des fondspour la charité, soit le concours d’éléganceà Québec et la journée de charité au Mont-Tremblant. Vous avez certainement lu l’ex-cellent article sur le concours d’élégancedans l’édition précédente. J’aimerai ajouterque le concours d’élégance aura lieu dansun endroit très spécial et le début de juinest une excellente période dans la région deQuébec. Ceci devient une motivation pourparticiper. En prime, l’organisateur JohnKennedey a des ajouts très intéressant à l’a-genda du concours.

Je suis certainque la plupart d’entre nous ont été à unmoment ou à un autre sollicité par leurcomptable, avocat ou ami pour une œuvrede charité qui leur tient à cœur. Il est main-tenant temps de retourner la table et decontacter ces gens pour leur demander la

N’ayant pas le temps d’enlever lesnombreuses couches de peinture accu-mulées au cours des années il décida decouvrir sa voiture d’une couche de vinyleMac-Tac, une solution temporaire maisrapide. Notre Al Carbone nous a amenéune idée pour amasser des fonds aussitôtacceptée par Philippe. Pour une somme trèsraisonnable, vous pouvez signer ou inscrireune courte phrase sur la voiture dePhilippe. Au cours de notre réunion de finde journée lors de la session de cours deconduite de mai nous avons amassé plus de$800.00. La voiture sera à plusieurs événe-ments dont la journée sur la rue Crescentlors du Grand Prix.

Ceci est une formal-ité nécessaire pour la couverture de nosévénements par la compagnie d’assurancede PCA. Le fait de ne pas s’y conformerannule la couverture d’assurance.Récemment, j’ai eu à répondre à de nom-breuses questions au sujet des assurances.Vous pouvez trouver réponse à de nom-breuses questions sur le site web de PCA.

divided between the FoundationCharles Bruneau and Le FondationTremblant.

Have Fun For Charity

The day is an Introduction to HighPerformance Driving. Participants anda guest get a brief theory course fol-lowed by exercises designed to givethem a feel for their cars and how theyreact. There’ll be a slalom, an emer-gency lane change and a maximumbraking test, tThen it’s on track drivingwith a Rennsport instructor on board.This aspect was so popular last yearthat Louise has arranged to provideeven more track time this summer.After a catered lunch, we go back tothe track for more laps. We’ll end theday by offering rides in instructor’scars. There will be a fine assortment ofPorsches and a Ferrari or two for thesampling.

The event was a great success lastyear. Participants really enjoyed them-selves and many went out of their wayto ask to be invited again. Several com-mented that it “beat heck out of golf”.

The Cost

Participation requires a donation in theamount of $1,000. A receipt for incometax purposes will be issued by theFoundations in the amount of $950. Ifthat seems odd, it’s a Revenue Canada

J rule, since participants derive a benefit,they cannot claim the entire amount againstincome tax. The event costs very little torun because the track, ambulance, flaggers,lunch etc. are contributed by our partner, LeCircuit Mont Tremblant. Donors are invitedto bring along a guest at no extra charge. Ifa guest wants to drive s(he) will share thedonor’s car.

How You Can Help:

Contact your friends and business associ-ates. A number of companies made (taxdeductible) donations and gave the day toclients. It’s a great way to thank a favoritecustomer, get a tax write off and help aworthy cause. If you are a trackie, remem-ber the excitement of your first event andhow this might please someone you’d liketo thank.

Finding donors is pretty easy. Simplycall some friends who like cars and explainwhat we’re doing. They’ll love the idea andno persuasion will be necessary. If you ownyour own business, make a donation andsend your best client(s). Have a raffleamongst your staff to raise the $1,000 andgive the winner the day off to enjoy theevent. As we found out last year, there are alot of people who have always wanted todrive their car (one was a pickup truckactually) on a race track and this is the per-fect opportunity. What boss would refuse aday off to a person raising money for chil-dren?

With over six hundred Rennsport mem-bers I’m confident we can do an outstand-ing job again this year. All we have to do ismake a few calls. You can get details and

Dunlop has just introduced an R compoundtire. It’s the Dunlop Super Sports Race – aDOT legal R compound tire to competewith the Michelin Pilot Sports Cup andPirelli P-O Corsa. I’m told this tire comesout of the competition division based inGermany. The tire looks a lot like the ultrahigh performance street version and haswater evacuation channels typical of thatkind of tire. The secret is in the construc-tion, stiff side-walls and a softer racing rub-ber compound. Tread depth is about 1 mmmore than the Michelin and, judging by thetread pattern, this tire should work well inthe wet. Based on my experience, I considerit imprudent to drive on the Michelin Cupif it’s wet.

Early reports are favorable. A group ofPCA racers tested the Dunlops at LimeRock Park. Some thought they were betterthan the Cup in the dry and one eventhought it they were better than Hoosierslicks. There were a few dissenting voices,one who thought that the Cup was better inthe dry and several who thought that com-paring it to Hoosier slicks was silly. In thewet everyone agreed that the tire was supe-rior to the Michelins (not hard in my opin-ion) and at least the equal of the Pirelli.The Dunlop SS “R” is available now fromClub sponsors to fit Boxsters and 996’s.Larger rears to fit the GT2 and 3 will haveto wait ‘til later in the season.

Speaking of Tires:

Last season I praised the YokohamaES100. I was delighted with its perform-ance and the price is downright cheapfor the level of performance. I thoughtso highly of them that I bought them forboth Louise’ and my daily drivers.Three weeks ago we swapped oursnows for our summer tires. Somethingseems to happen after four months ofwear because when I put on my ES-100’s, they were noisier than my winterToyos!

I had them checked for cupping orunusual wear and they appear to be nor-mal. They still grip nicely, it’s just thatthey are loud. Louise changed over aweek or so later than I did and she’s gotthe same problem. That’s two differentsizes on two different cars but the samecomplaint - too loud. If noise doesn’tbother you, they are a great bargain. Ifnoise isn’t on your agenda, consider myrecommendation withdrawn.

Porsche 997

The face lifted 911 will be here in the fallas a 2005 model. Why is it that Porschebrings out sports cars in the fall andSUV’s in the spring? No matter, the newcar brings back the headlights and flaredfenders of the 993 wrapped around the996 chassis. The interior has beenrevised with styling that reflects theCayenne. From the spy photos it lookslike Porsche has responded to criticismabout the relatively stark 996 interior. Ifyou look at a 996 TT and a similarly

priced Mercedes SL 500 you’ll see what Imean.

The 2005 model line up will be a C2 and C4.A Cab, a Turbo and possibly a GT2 areexpected a year later. The jury is still out onthe Targa which is a perennial slow seller inNorth America for some reason. Model year2007 will bring us a 997 GT3 as well as amore powerful 997 S. A totally new 911 isexpected in 2008.

The juicy rumor is that the Carrera-GTmight continue in production if demandwarrants. I can’t get anyone to confirm thisstory but several US dealers seem to feel itis true. I’d be worried if I had plunkeddown some $600,000 on a C-GT assumingthat the car would be a collector’s item likean Enzo. In case you’re wondering, no Ididn’t order a C-GT but I believe thatseven other people in Montreal did. Aftermy GT2 experience I don’t trust Porsche tomaintain the value of so called “collectorcars”.

A Trick of the Tail -The Rennsport Reunion II

Upon arrival we dedicated Thursdaynight to our mental preparation for theweek-end, supplemented of course withwith beer, seafood, and more beer.

On Friday morning after a 6:00am jog-ging session on the beach (it will be theonly one of the week-end…) and a quickbreakfast, we head to the DaytonaInternational Speedway’s infield where theevent is taking place.

Without hesitation we direct ourselvestoward the garages where the engines arealready roaring. My first shock comes whenI realize that everyone has free access toeverywhere - not something I’m used too!To my delight, the first car we see is a beau-tifully restored, pale blue Gulf 917, just sit-ting there with its mean look and superbtail.

That was just the beginning to the manyhours we spent talking to mechanics, own-ers and drivers. One example that comes tomy mind was a discussion with a mechanicfrom the Joest Team about the open cockpitPorsche 908/3, driven by Vic Elford andGerard Larousse in the early 70’s. (I have anElford autographed picture of the same car,taken in 1971 at the Nurburgring during apit stop). I was told that this 100% originalprototype normally sits in a museum butwas flown from Germany especially for thisevent. It would compete in the plastic bod-ied and prototypes group on Sunday. Forthose of you who wonder, even though thisGerman mechanic was not fluent inEnglish, I managed to understand that themaintenance costs for this jewel manage totake on “real estate” proportions.

Friday is mostly dedicated to exploringthe site, looking at practice sessions and

n the depths of last winter, I got a callfrom one of my good friends,

Frederic, a Rennsport Alumni now liv-ing in Toronto. He was calling to ask meto join him for a weekend in DaytonaBeach Florida, to attend the RennsportReunion II event. Now, there were tworeasons why this sounded pretty good tome. First reason: When hell is freezingoutside, planning a trip any place whereice is something you add to your drinkis motivating. Second reason: This eventis meant to be a celebration of Porscheracing history, with a gathering ofPorsche vintage racecars and historiccars owned by private collectors, clubracers, former Porsche factory driversand the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.In essence, a three-day, Porsche-only, allyou can eat, buffet. Besides, there was achance for me to see (and hear) my“cult” car, the Porsche 917, live, on atrack.

Most of us have seen the movie“Lemans” with Steve McQueen drivingthe blue Gulf 917. That’s the car! I ownthe DVD and have viewed the moviemany times without quite ever worryingabout the story…

Well here we are, four months later ona discount, back of the bus, two connec-tions, flight to Daytona Beach. My firsttaste of the week end to come is JackyIckx sitting in a first class, first row seaton our last connection between Atlantaand Daytona Beach. Joining him wereexecutives from Porsche AG, Michelin,and many Porsche enthusiasts fromacross the US. (Of course, like us, not allthem in the first class section)

planning what race groups we want to seeand from what angle. The 3.6 miles (5.7 km)track seems huge. Standing up in theinfield stands enables us to have a perfect360 degree line of sight. The east and westbankings seem quite aggressive, somethingwe will explore later in the day.

The track has an infield segment thatincludes a 90 degree left turn, fast esses, atight 180 degree corner (in second gear) fol-lowed by a short straight, a long sweepingturn, another hairpin and a final 90 degreeleft turn to re-enter the oval.

Local drivers told us that the surface ofthe infield portion is quite old and made ofa mixture of asphalt and shell fragments,which makes it rough and very slippery at

the same time. The second shock of the day was to see astock black Carrera GT running with the pro-totypes group during the practice session.The GT was competitive, but of course, withits 600hp V10 and its 100% aircraft (if notNASA) engineering, this (street) car was closeto a prototype anyway.

Going back to the garage area we stoppedby the Porsche stand and saw the empty GTdisplay with a small sign displayed in themiddle that glued a wide smile on our face:Gone racing, back in 10 laps. Isn’t that whatPorsche is all about?

That afternoon, after a shopping spree inthe numerous kiosks (t-shirts, books, trackgear and etc) we had the chance to try out the

Cayenne. Organized as a charity ride, a$10 donation inluded a a T-shirt and adrive on a small, purpose build dirttrack, in the infield. While Fred’s ridewas quite civilized, I went ballistic overthe last obstacle. The Cayenne deliverswhat it promises, including flying! We closed the day with another charityride, this time on the speedway, withtwo PCA members who were kind

enough to accept us onboard (we literal-ly hitchhiked a ride). We were able toreally appreciate the 31 degree banking,which reminded me of the old“Parabolica” curve in Monza which Iwalked up two years ago.Saturday morning was rather difficultfor us due to a previous over-hydrationwith the wrong fluids! We asked for a

sud-6:00AM wake-up call in an attempt toget two of the one hundred passes for theafternoon autograph session.

After bribing the security guard at thegate and running half of the infield up to“Hangar H”, (Actually, Fred did most of therunning) we realized that we were alone.Needless to say we got our two passes(another $25 to charity) and went on toenjoy the morning’s qualifying sessions.

There are essentially five different groupsrunning over the weekend namely theGmund Cup (under 2.5L: 914, 911, 356,RS60, 550, etc), the Eifel trophy (over 2.5L911), the Continental Trophy (GT3 CupCars), The Weissach Cup (Plastic bodiedPorches and Prototypes) and the SalzburgCup (Catch-all group for PCA, 944, 968, 928,930, 914, etc). block engines, the noisiest cars on the trackwere 911’s, with their very specific highpitch. Needless to say that exhaust systemsare optional at Daytona (non-existent, real-ly) with the track being within walking dis-tance of the airport. Although seeing the cars at speed in theeast bank is highly impressive, the firsthairpin in the infield section of the track isreally where we can gauge the talent ofsome of the drivers, and the attributes ofthe different cars. I remember very well adriver in a little silver 904 who was takingthe hairpin under controlled sweeping lapafter lap to the pleasure of all. Some of thedrivers with late 911’s and Cup carsshowed better skills than some prototypedrivers (budget isn’t everything after all).And finally, some cars were better tunedthan others just by the sound of it (budgetcan be an issue after all).

The cinema size burritos we had forlunch sucked out most of our remainingenergy reserves and we had to take a napunder a palm tree. With the the backgroundsounds of the Cup cars entering the eastbank at speed after the back straight, ourdreams were sweet.

Early afternoon, and it was time toattend the autograph session. We nowunderstand that the early wake up call haspaid off, big time. Hundreds of people,including media crews, are there to cheerthe forty or so Porsche drivers from the dif-ferent eras. Only one hundred lucky indi-viduals can go in and Fred and I have theunique opportunity to see, talk to, andshake hands with Vic Elford, HurleyHaywood, Derek Bell, Bobby Rahal andmany others. A quasi-religious experience if

you ask me! One thing that stoked me wasthat all drivers were truly enjoying them-selves as if they were attending some kindof college reunion - they were happy to betogether.

We saw some of them later in the clubracers’ paddock signing on cars, helmets,and other racing gear just out of pure fun.The end result for us was a Rennsport IIposter (Honey, I will not keep this one inthe garage!) and a Porsche factory racingbook signed by all of the forty drivers aswell as a copy of Mark Donohue’s “TheUnfair Advantage” signed by his sonDavid, himself a highly succesful Porschedriver. After the emotions of that experi-ence, we spend an hour wandering throughamong he prototypes before leaving thespeedway for the day.

That night we went back to Ocean Deck,a little pub on the beach, for seafood andmore beers. I can confirm now that karaokesingers universally suck!

Sunday was race day. We arrived earlyand did our little pilgrimage through theprototype hangars as we did on previousdays. We spent most of the morning’s prac-tice sessions taking pictures of the differentrun groups at the staging area as well asclose to the east bank. We came back to thepaddocks on time to smell the distinctivenoon race track aroma consisting of a mix-ture of grilled proteins and high octaneexhaust. We had a good look at the“parade”, organized to showcase Porschesfrom all eras, ranging from the early Spiderup to the GT1. The cars were driven byproud owners and, in some case, by theiroriginal drivers. Hurley Haywood wasdriving the white, red and blue late 917

open cockpit with his name on it. Iquickly filled the memory card of mydigital camera and ended up sitting atthe entrance of a hangar between thecars, downloading pictures on my lap-top, with my bags open and wireseverywhere.

We spent our last afternoon atDaytona close to the hairpin watchingthe club racers battling for victory in thedifferent run groups. They put on agreat show and injected adrenaline inour veins as our season, back up north,is about to begin.

One last anecdote: The winner of theContinental Trophy (cup cars) finishedthe short ten lap race with a consider-able lead over the front runners, andmore than one complete 5.7 km lap overthe slower drivers while driving anolder car (993 tub). He was showingexceptional smoothness and constancy(at least in the hairpin). His name isLarry…Schumacher…(Could his genepool be an unfair advantage?).

In conclusion, when I spoke withJacky Ickx during the autograph session,he said a couple of times “Ouais, c’estvraiment chouette cet évènement n’est-ce pas?” I don’t believe I can summa-rize this exceptional weekend any better.I will fondly remember the brute forceof the blue Gulf 917 as it did its “trick ofthe tail” exiting the infield hairpin. Tome it was pure enjoyment.

By the way, the general manager ofLemans, who was also attending theevent as a guest of Porsche AG, statedpublicly that he would be please to hostthe Rennsport Reunion III event at hisinstallations…hmmm perhaps anothertrip is looming!

Q - What constitutes the RSR board?A - The board consists of elevenRennsport members. There are four offi-cers, six directors and a past president.The officers and their present positionsare President / Micheal Delaney, Vice-President / Philippe Desjardins,Treasurer / Nicole Galarneau, andSecretary / Eric Gutknecht.

The directors and their presentresponsibilities are: Robert Rouleau:Advanced driver training program chiefinstructor, Garth Gullekson: Marketingdirector with responsibility for sellingand contracting advertising, RobertPaulhus: Communication director withWEB and Der Auspuff coordinationresponsibilities and general communica-tion with the membership, Paul Racine:currently in charge of the selection, buy-ing and selling of promotional articlesand garments, Philippe Girard: Socialdirector in charge of scheduling andcoordinating of the social activities, andStéphane Côté: Quebec City area repre-sentative.

The Board is elected for a one-yearperiod, however each member is askedto make a minimum two-year commit-ment to the board, subject to the electionprocess. At the end of this mandate,he/she can run for another year provid-ing no one challenges the position, inwhich case the voting members canextend his/her mandate or chooseanother member to represent that posi-tion.

Another option is to run for another(vacated, end of mandate) Director orOfficer position on the board. At this

time the election process will involve thetwo positions. In order to run for an officerposition, a member has to have a minimumof two years experience as a director tofully understand the responsibilities andrunning of the club.

Q - What's the differences between a direc-tor and an officer?A - An Officer has more responsibilitiesthan a director (not to say that he/she ismore important) and since he/she has beenon the board for at least two years he/shewill have a greater awareness of the multi-tude of tasks that are required in the gov-erning of our club and better fulfill theneeds of the membership.

Q - Who can attend the board meeting?A - Any Rennsport member is welcome toattend the monthly meetings in beautiful Hawkesbury. You'll see the dis-cussions that are needed to ensure thevalue of a Rennsport club membership.

Q - What is the election process?A - Every year, a nominating committee ismandated by the board to seek memberswho are enthusiast about their club andwould be interested in maintaining the via-bility of our organization.

Q - Is it possible that the board might beconstrued as a clique?A - Since there has been a lack of interestfrom the membership with regard to volun-teering for board positions, the rotationwithin the board of directors has been slowout of necessity. It is certain that anybodywith a desire to help is welcome and willhave an equal chance of becoming a boardmember.

Q - What does it take to become aRennsport board member?A - Candidates will have an interest inensuring that the club survives and be eager

to represent the interest of all of the clubmembers. If nobody applies to serve on theboard, the club will slowly decay for lack ofinterest and burn out will occur for thosewho have carried the ball up to now. Helpyourself in helping others!

frequently for the latest information. Pleasedon’t get upset at our Registrar either. Thesituation is very difficult at the moment,and it’s a ton of work to manage the regis-tration information and be sure everyonegets treated fairly in terms of rescheduling.

Another item of interest was new "track"shirts that Paul Racine is currently workingon. It should be a really good quality shirtwith your favorite tracks and Rennsportgraphics on it. Be sure to get one or twonext time you are at the track or at a clubevent. They should be available a bit laterin the summer.

Last up for the evening (but certainly notleast) was our very hard working charitylady Louise Pearl. She unselfishly came outto Hawkesbury to brief the executive onthe RSR Charity day planned for the end ofJune. Once again, it will be a fantastic eventfor a great cause, and I would encourageyou to let all your corporate friends andcontacts know about it. By the time you read this, our firstdriving event will have occurred, andthe Concours D’Élégance in Quebec citywill be rapidly approaching. I do hopeto see you there, as my family is plan-ning a trip to enjoy Quebec City in thespring and take in the lovely cars.

The April meeting is always a memo-rable one, as that’s when you usuallysee the cars come out of storage and gettheir legs stretched by going on a quicktrip to Hawkesbury. It’s not often yousee a Porsche GT3 parked in a BestWestern Motel parking lot (a Westinmaybe...) but sure enough, a silver onewas there along with some trusty 944's.

As far a business goes, Bob’s trackreport did have some details worthmentioning. Bob reviewed the PCANational Instructor Certification pro-gram and a plan is in affect to ensure wewe are ready to put our instructorsthrough the program. We don’t antici-pate any problems as all of our instruc-tors are very capable and are likelyalready well above the National PCAstandard. Also worth noting was thatthe new Calabogie track management isdealing with some community issues.At this point it would appear that thetrack may still not be ready for use byour August DE date. a saison Rennsport débute. J’ai trouvéque l’hiver était trop court cetteannée... je sais que vous allez croire

que je suis cinglé, mais en effet, j’aimeautant les sports d’hiver que le sport auto-mobile Porsche.

Lors de la lecture de cette rubrique, uncours de conduite tire déjà à sa fin et leConcours d’Élégance à Québec s’annoncepour le début juin. J’espère de vous y ren-contrer, car ma famille et moi serons de lapartie pour apprécier la ville de Québecainsi que les superbes voitures.

La réunion du mois d’avril est toujoursexcitante car on commence à voir lesvoitures Porsche sortir de leur hibernation.On ne voit pas trop souvent une PorscheGT3 stationnée dans le parking du BestWestern à Hawkesbury. Au Westin peut êtred’accord! Il y avait en effet une Porschecouleur argenté parmi les fidèles 944.

Passons à la réunion. Bob Rouleau arevisionné le programme “PCA NationalInstructor Certification” et a planifié unedémarche afin de certifier les instructeursde Rennsport. Nous ne prévoyons aucunproblème car la plupart de nos instructeurssont très qualifiés et dépassent la normenationale issue par PCA.

Les responsables de la piste à Calabogiesont en pourparlers avec la communauté deCalabogie. Il semble que vu ces discussionsde longue haleine, la piste ne sera pas com-pletée pour notre DE en août. Soyez à l’é-coute en vérifiant le site Web et le DerAuspuff. Un rappel, ne dirigez pas votreennui envers le registraire car la situationn’est plaisante pour personne. C’est tou-jours difficile de céduler les cours et autres.

Un autre point d’intérêt est la com-
