Hall County Quilters GuildMeeting MinutesMay 6, 2019
May 2019 - Page 2
The May meeting opened with a terrific presentation by our guest speaker, Tammy Silvers. We then approved the April minutes and heard Sally Zook give the Treasurer’s report.
Jean Edwards said that there will be a combine June-July Newsletter.
Our membership chairman, Laura Nagy, reported 3 guests, 48 members present and new membership total of 75 quilters.
We are continuing our community service projects of pillows for cancer patients and tote bags for food recipients. Rose King reported that we have enough volunteers for hospitality at present. She reminded us that our June meeting will be a picnic at Eagle Ranch. E-mail her to sign up if you still need to. We will meet at the pavilion at Eagle Ranch at about 11:00 AM. Bring a dish to share. Peggy Johnson said that our July program will be a trunk show by 3 of our own members – Paula Johnson, Bobbie Martin and Christine Pierson. There also will be some of Jean Leslie’s fabric for sale. Jenny Grandfield said that kits are available for Eagle Ranch quilts. She is trying to offer quilt kits with simple patterns. Trixie Comfort will e-mail instructions to Block of the Month participants. We were glad to see Carol Johnson back after surgery. She thanked members for all the cards they sent her, and she asked that we let her know if anyone in guild could use a card. Ginny Hendrix presented an idea for a new kind of block exchange group. Let Ginny know if you wish to participate. Chris Anderson will soon be planning our next quilt retreat. She will let us know when sign-up begins. Betty Wright reported that it will soon be the 8th year anniversary of “Quilts for Kids” with the 5,000th quilt about to be presented! The meeting ended with a great “Show and Tell” and our raffle. Respectfully Submitted,Julie Monroe, Secretary
