SAT•Test is over three sections; Critical Reading, Math and Writing

•Can earn a maximum of 800 points on each section

•Wrong answers are docked ¼ point (penalty for guessing)

•Tests more vocabulary than ACT

•Not entirely multiple choice

•Considered more of a reasoning test than a content based test

ACT•Test is over 5 sections; English, Reading, Math, Science and optional writing

•Can earn a maximum score of 36

•No penalty for wrong answers (guessing OK)

•Tests on English grammar whereas SAT does not

•Multiple choice (except writing)

•Content driven test of achievement
