He initiated the introduction of Drama & Theatre Studies to the University at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. As Chair of the Granary Theatre Committee he was instrumental in persuading the University to build the new Granary. His own plays include The Rock Station (premiered by Soho Theatre, London) and Sca, a modern version of Sheridan’s School for Scandal. He also contributed script to Broken Crow’s Enter Juliet which premiered at the Everyman last year. In recent years he has directed Beckett’s Not I (Gaitkrash Theatre Company) at the Crawford Art Gallery, Patrick Kavanagh’s The Great Hunger for Theatre Makers TC, Brecht’s Fear and Misery in the Third Reich (with Bernadette Cronin), Frank McGuinness’s Mary and Lizzie (with Bernadette Cronin), Martin Crimp’s Attempts on Her Life, Yeats’s The Cat and the Moon and The Only Jealousy of Emer, and Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape. He was script editor and dramaturg on Corcadorca’s production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (2013) and is on the Steering Committee of the Theatre Development Centre (TDC) in Triskel Arts, Cork. His most recent work is Matched – his own adaptation of two Chekhov one-act plays, which he directed for Everyman Theatre in January 2015 and which gained four-star reviews from The Irish Times and The Irish Examiner. Deirdre Dwyer – Set and Costume Designer Deirdre Dwyer is a costume and set designer for theatre, film and events. She trained in University College Cork (Drama and Theatre Studies and English) and at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff (Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre Design). She participated, as the Designer, in Rough Magic SEEDS3. She was awarded the first Pat Murray Bursary in 2009. She is a member of Broken Crow’s Theatre Ensemble. Previous work includes designs for, Matched (Everyman), B, Jezebel (Rough Magic), The Scarlet Letter (Conflicted Theatre Company), Bug (BrokenCrow), Blátha Bána – White Blossoms (Graffiti Theatre Company), Berlin Love Tour (Playgroup, Dublin, Birmingham and Cork); Melmoth the Wanderer (Big Telly, Portstewart and National Tour); Dancing at Lughnasa and Dealer’s Choice (Linbury Studio Theatre, LAMDA, London); West Side Story and Honk (Cork Opera House); August: Ossage County (Bute Theatre, Cardiff). She has also designed for Waterford Spraoi, Clinic Media, MooCow Productions, Making Strange, Half/Angel and Little Red Kettle.
Eoin has been working as a freelance lighting designer since 2008. He has designed work with Asylum Theatre Company, Little Wolf Theatre Company, Catherine Young Dance Company, The Everyman, Dreamgun, Orion Productions, Martin Sharry, Gonzo Theatre Company, Broken Crow, THEATREclub, Veronica Dyas, Nic Greene, Ger Kelly, Louise Lewis, Graffiti Theatre Company, Talking Shop Ensemble, Dish Dance Ensemble, Dublin Fringe,
Hammergrin, Dublin Youth Theatre, Pulses of Tradition, Rabbit Hat Theatre Company, Manchán Mangáin, Equinox Theatre Company, Callback Theatre Company, Meridian Theatre Company, Conflicted Theatre Company, Meantime Theatre Company, Cork Deaf Association, Cork Opera House, Roundhouse Theatre Co, Journeyman Theatre Co, Granary Theatre, Cyclone Repertory Co and Bare Cheek Theatre Co. Irene Buckley – Sound Designer
Irene Buckley, a composer from Cork, holds a PhD in Composition and a BMus from University College Cork and an MA in Music Technology from Queens University Belfast. Irene has written music for many theatre, dance and film productions. Her theatre productions include: Dark Week and The Train Show (Playgroup Theatre Company), Rita
Dunne and The Glass Menagerie (Everyman Palace), The Yellow Wallpaper (Thinking Image Theatre Company), Snap (Corcadorca), Disco Pigs (Granary Theatre Productions), The Chronicles of Oggle (Asylum Productions) and King Lear (Cyclone Theatre Company). She composed a live score for Carl Dreyer's silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc for soprano, organ and electronics and Jean Epstein's The Fall of the House of Usher for organ and electronics (both commissioned by the Cork French Film Festival). Both
productions have since toured internationally at venues such as Union Chapel, London and at Glasgow Film Festival.
Giada Orlandi – Make Up Designer
Giada is a Cork-based make-up artist, accomplished in all aspects of fashion,
editorial, TV, film, and theatre make-up. Trained in Dublin, she received an ITEC in
Fashion, Theatre and Media make-up from the MKF Institute and holds a BA in
Muscial Theatre & Drama (University of Cumbria) and an MA in Applied Drama &
Theatre Studies (UCC). Giada has worked extensively both as a free-lance artist
and in commercial make-up artistry with Smashbox Cosmetics, and C&A Clothing. Recent theatre credits
include The Rocky Horror Picture Show(Cork Opera House),Matched (Everyman) and Singing in the Rain (Cork
Opera House).Her work can also be seen in the music video for Kodaline’s ‘Honest’ and in the RTÉ series
Sketch. She is delighted to be working with the Everyman once again.
Regina Crowley has worked professionally in theatre since the late 80’s as a performer and
director. She is a founder member of Gaitkrash Theatre Company and has been involved in
all of their shows to date both as a deviser and performer. In 2010 she qualified as a
Designated Linklater Teacher – the first Irish theatre professional to receive this award. She
currently utilises this work in the training of performers at the CIT CSM and has led
workshops both nationally and internationally. She has also trained with Yoshi Oida, Kristin
Linklater, Enrique Pardo, Lorna Marshall, Bella Merlin, Phillip Zarrilli and the Moscow School
of Cinematography. Recent roles include Mouth In Beckett's Not I, W2 in Beckett's Play and Clare in Playing
the Maids after Genet directed by Phillip Zarrilli with an international group of artists. This production has just
been nominated for the Best Ensemble Theatre Award. Other roles include Nora in Ibsen's The Doll's House
and Dolly in Bailegangaire by Tom Murphy.
Directing credits include Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice and A Midsummer's Night's
Dream, an adaptation of Cocteau's film Orphee and Sleepwalking, an adaptation of short stories by Franz
Kafka.
Michael Sands – Jack ‘Captain’ Boyle
Michael trained at Monforts Academy of Performing Arts and Actors Centre, London. West End Credits include, Camelot, Fiddler on the Roof and Les Miseables. He also appeared in Golden Apple at The Barbican, other roles include; Cathal Brugha in Michael Collins (Olympia), Jack in Plough and the stars (Everyman), Lister in Damages (Cork Arts Theatre), Victor in One for the Road (Bewleys Dublin), he received critical acclaim as Valentin in Kiss of
the Spiderwomen and Sweeney in Sweeney Todd (Opera House). He has recently finished filming scenes for the soon to be released feature film The Young Offenders.
Jack Healy – Joxer Daly
Jack Healy has worked in theatre for over thirty years mainly as an actor and playwright. He
has written scripts for The Everyman Palace, Macra Na Feirme and RTÉ Radio. Under the
‘Culture and Health Strand’ of Cork 2005 he developed and pursued a project called
‘Dream Store’, to make a document of the sleeping dreams of various clients within the
remit of the health services during 2005. Most recently, under commission from Cork
County Council, he wrote a stage adaptation of the novel, ‘Glenanaar’ by Cannon Sheehan
to celebrate the centenary of his death.
He has written extensively for children: The Man in the Moon (with Enda Walshe, based on a story of Jack’s)
was premiered at the Deptford Studios London in 2009. With his own company, Theatre Makers he wrote
Aesop’s Fabulous Foibles and Fables (with George Hanvoer, after Aesop) which has toured extensively
throughout Ireland. Also under the Theatre Makers banner he has performed two one-man shows; The Great
Hunger by Patrick Kavanagh and his own play, Shostakovich (based on the life of the Soviet composer). In
2013, Shostakovich received an outing as part of “The Rest is Noise” festival at the Southbank Centre, London.
Emma Willis – Mary Boyle
Emma Willis is in her final year studying Theatre and Drama studies at Cork School of Music
CIT. During her studies she has appeared in a number of productions including the Irish
premiere of The Laramie Cycle (directed by Joseph C. Walsh) and most recently Our Town
(directed by Ben Barnes). Emma has also appeared in film starring in Oonagh Kearney’s
Irish film board short The Christening and alongside Brian Gleeson in Irish Feature Darkness
Patrick Cregan – Street Singer, Irregular Two, Mourner
Patrick is currently studying Acting in Coláiste Stiofán Naofa. Patrick has previously
appeared in productions of Spring Awakening, Showboat, Oklahoma and Back to the 80’s.
Patrick also appeared in TG4 series The Running Mate as Dara MacDonagh. Patrick is
delighted to be part of this exciting production of Juno and the Paycock.
Sarah Clerkin – Street vendor, Neighbour Two
Sarah is currently studying Drama and Theater at UCC, which has given her the opportunity
to perform in a newly conceived production of Aristophanes' comedy The Birds named
Bird-Like?. She has also performed as a part of the Lennox Robinson festival, playing the
role of Bridget in Harvest. This is her first production on the Everyman stage.'
Alan Mooney – Furniture Man One, Mourner
Alan Mooney is a UCC graduate of English and History. He first started acting with UCC
Dramat in 2013 and has slowly worked his way around the Cork theatre scene since that
time. Previous credits include And Then There Were None (UCC Dramat, Granary & Cork
Arts Theatre), Foxfinder (UCC Dramat, Granary), Architects and Anarchists (UCC Dramat,
Granary & Baby Grand Belfast) and columbinus (sic) (Cork Arts Theatre). For film he has
played the role of Fiach in Three Friends (RSVP/Stick Pony Rodeo). Alan is currently in
rehearsals for the upcoming Dramat production of Butterfly Kiss. He wishes the very best
for everyone involved in Juno and the Paycock.
James De Burca - Furniture Man Two, Guard One, Mourner
A performer born and raised in Athenry, Co. Galway, James is a fourth year student of Theatre and Drama at Cork School of Music. James earned a FETAC level 5 Certificate in Theatre and Performance in Galway before moving to Cork to continue his studies. Most recently James performed alongside his fourth year classmates In Our Town directed by Ben Barnes. Other credits from CSM include The Laramie Cycle directed by Joseph C. Walsh,
And a one man show of selected texts Titled Infinite Jest. Outside of Cork, James has performed in Midsummer's Night's Dream as Lysander under Lorraine O'Hara at the Mick Lally Theatre. James is extremely grateful for the opportunity to perform in Juno and The
Paycock alongside this terrific cast.
