    Business Process

    Buyers collaborate with their suppliers to share requirements, along withlead times and other details.

    1. Planning Schedule: Buyer publishes requirements and makes commitments for a set

    of items being procured from the supplier for a specified delivery plant/storage

    location.

    2. Supplier Response: Suppliers respond to every requirement that they cannot meet.

    Suppliers may also be expected to provide lead times and to fill in other key data

    fields.

    Typically released once a week (dependson the buyer) and sent to the collaboration

    Structured in the following manner:

    Planning Schedule - Response

    In many cases, Suppliers do notneed to respond to buyers requirements ifthey agree with what is published.

    > However, lack of suppliers response is assumed to be an acknowledgement as well

    as a commitment to the published requirements.

    > NOTE: Some buyers expect a sent response, even if there are no changes made.

    Suppliers are expected to respond when they cannotprovide a commit thatmatches the buyers requirements.

    > Suppliers can:

    Change the date for a specified quantity or

    Under/over commit a quantity for a date or

    Spread capacity commits over multiple time buckets

    In this case, the supplier will need to specify the new commitmentdate/quantity pairs.

    Suppliers will be required to specify a Reason for not being able to match

    the date/quantity requirements.

    Planning Schedule - Response

    This is the list of reason codes that areavailable for selection by suppliers.

    Suppliers can provide an optional note

    associated with the change. Selecting

    Other Please Specify makes the Notefield mandatory.

    Once the supplier has reviewed and

    responded to the items, the supplier must

    change the Status to Sent for all schedule

    items on the planning schedule. Only when the supplier marks the PS as

    Sent will the response be sent to the

    buyers backend system.

    Supply Path Item

    SCP organizes Material Master data for demand planning into objects known as

    Supply Path Items.

    A. Dimensions of a supply path item are: Buyer + Site + Item + Supplier

    Site is a combination of Delivery Plant and Storage Location

    Item tracks both Buyer Material Number and Supplier Material Number

    B. Attributes are the supporting data related to a supply path item

    These items are applied to long-term planning schedules, standard planning

    schedules, and inventory status cycles

    Supply Path Item is often referred to as a Collaboration or Collab.

    MCV Page Data Measures & TimeBuckets

    1. Time Buckets each column on the right side represents a day, week or month

    Daily (green) Weekly (blue) Monthly (pink)

    2. Data Measures each row in the supply path item is defined by a data measure

    3. Point-In-Time (PIT) where a column and row meet in the time bucket area is a date and quantity

    pair that is defined by the data measure for that row

    Example: There is a demand for (5) items on April 26, 2007.

    Prior Data Measures

    When a new Planning Schedule is uploaded, the existing Current Requirements data

    measures are rolled-over to become Prior Requirements and the new Planning

    Schedule is published as the current data.

    Accessing Supply Path Items

    There are several methods you can use to access Long TermPlanning Schedules (A), Standard Planning Schedules (B), or

    Inventory Status (C):

    1. Filteris best used when items or names are unknown. Filter

    displays a list from which you can select, instead of manually

    typing search criteria.

    2. Search is best used when you know the item numbers,

    names or descriptions that can be manually typed into the

    search fields. Search is simpler and more straightforward

    than Filter.

    3. My Workspace is best used when you want to access itemsgrouped by Category and Status

    5. Click the checkboxes for the line items you want to add to the Filter.

    > Note: If only one item, its automatically selected - skip immediately to the next parameter.

    6. Click the Add button to add the items to the Filter Builder(A).

    7. Click the yellow arrow [>] icon to the right of the next parameter down, then repeat

    Steps 5 and 6 until your Filter Builder is complete.

    The Long Term Planning Schedule is a reference document and suppliers are

    notexpected to respond to it.

    Publishing Schedule

    The LTPS looks almost the same as a standard PS, with the exception that a

    supplier cannot create a response (there is no Supplier Response field).
