Kindergarden Entry Age Has Changed! Starting this year, keiki must be five years old on or before July 31 of the school year in order to enter kindergarden. I have been told that approximately 5,100 children will not be able to enter kindergarden this coming school year because they will not
be five years old by July 31 due to this entry age change.
The change is also part of a plan to establish a cohesive, comprehensive and sustainable preschool system for all four year olds.
If your family has questions or concerns regarding this new regulation, please contact the Executive Office on Early Learning by calling 586-0796 or go online at www.earlylearning.hawaii.gov.
