Native Title Act – rights and responsibilities

• GLaWAC and native title holders have certain rights and responsibilities under the Native Title Act in relation to particular activities on Crown Land in the Gunaikurnai native title determination area.• Whilst a native title party can negotiate the terms and conditions on

which these activities take place, in practice, they have no right of veto.• These rights and responsibilities operate alongside GLaWAC’s role as

a Registered Aboriginal Party and obligation to protect cultural heritage under the Aboriginal Heritage Act.
