RULES
GENERAL RULES1. The main days of Kaleidoscope the 8th and the 9th September 2018.2. Eliminations will be held from the 3rd of September, 2018.3. All colleges must register their contingent with Team Despatch first.4. Each participating college is required to be represented by one contingent leader and three assistant contingent leaders.5. Contingent lists to be submitted by the 1st of September, 2018.6. An incomplete contingent list will not be accepted.7. Participants who wish to participate in events, but not as part of their college contingent, can pre-register as Non-Contingent Entries (NCE’s).8. O.T.S.E’s and NCE’s are allowed for specific events depending on the number of participants already registered. NCE’s will get preference over O.T.S.Es but not over college contingents.9. Ex-students from the past 3 years can take part in the events as O.T.S.Es or NCE’s unless mentioned otherwise.10. On the main day of the festival the participants are requested to:a. Register 1 hour before the event is scheduled to beginb. Be present at the venue 15 minutes before their event is scheduled to begin.11. Main desk registration will stop 20 minutes prior to the event. If a participant is late due to an emergency, inform Team Despatch desk or Event teams respectively.12. There will be (-2) negative marking if a participant does not register on time.

GENERAL RULES 13. No extra time will be provided.14. Vulgarity of any form will lead to instant disqualification and negative marking for the college.15. Participants are not allowed to wear their respective college T-shirts during the festival.16. All participants must collect their certificates within seven days of the main days of the festival.17. Plagiarism may lead to disqualification/negative marking. 18. The decisions of the Executive Committee on all festival matters are final and binding.

SECURITY RULES1. During the elimination days, participants will be allowed to enter on the basis of: a) A valid college ID card, b) Proof of Participation slips.2. Non-participants will not be allowed to enter on the elimination days.3. On the final days, entry for the following will be on the basis of: a) Non Participants - College ID card, b) Participants and NPAs - Proof of Participation slips and ID card, c) CL and ACL- Badges and ID cards.4. Entry for everyone will be from the main gate on all days of Kaleidoscope.5. Entry for all guests, sponsors, press and judges will be from the main gate on all days of Kaleidoscope.6. The Pedder road gate is the only exit.7. Only CLs can exit from the main gate.8. Only a bona fide holder of an ID card will be allowed on campus.9. Promiscuous or vulgar behaviour of any sort will not be tolerated.10. For an ID card to be valid it must have the following:a. It must be issued for the current academic year.b. It must be attested or must have the respective Principal's signature on it. c. It must be a college ID card only. We do not accept any other form of identification.11. Any participant who has lost his/her ID card must be accompanied by the CL of the respective college.

12. Entry to all Bhabha Hall events is on first come, first serve basis. 13. The following items will not be allowed on campus. They will be confiscated and not returned:a. Lose cigarettes, cigars or any other forms of tobaccob. Narcotics and alcoholc. Syringes and medicine (allowed only with prescription)d. Matchboxese. Lightersf. Broken make upPermitted items (will be returned on the same day):a. Perfumes, deodorants and other flammable objects b. Sharp objects (pocket knife, etc)14. All CLs are requested to submit the prop list on the dates mentioned by the event teams.15. Entry for Kaleidoscope will shut at 7 p.m. sharp on all days.17. Each college is responsible for their own props. Participants are requested not to leave any props behind. 18. All who come on campus are expected to dress appropriately. a. All participants, sports or otherwise must carry a change of clothes should their costume/uniform lie above knee length and subsequently change if they wish to roam on campus.b. Any non-participant wearing shorts or dresses shorter than knee length will not be allowed onto campus.19. Verbal abuse and name-calling of a threatening manner will not be tolerated. 20. No trucks, only small tempos for props are to be brought on campus. A Security coordinator must be informed at least half an hour before. No parking allowed at all- once the props are unloaded the tempo will have to go out again.

TECHNICAL RULES1. Events will start exactly on schedule with/without the participating colleges. 2. CDs and USBs are permitted and should be submitted during technical registration. No mp3 players, laptops or mobile phones will be allowed.3. Technical and stage requirements to be given during registration.4. Sound check will happen post registration.5. Every CD and USB should have at least 2 backups that have been checked. The technical team will not be responsible for any glitches in the sound format or CD/USB not being recognized.6. The CD/ USB should contain only one song in the mp3 format.7. There will be no curtain call during the eliminations round.8. The technical team will not cater to any last-minute requirements.9. The checking of the CDs/ USB will take place 15 minutes before the scheduled time of event.10. CDs and USBs should be properly labelled with a case.11. All colleges should have at least 2 NPA’s to cue lights and sounds in the events where they are required.12. Participants will be held responsible for their own equipment if they are lost or damaged.

1. For Better Or For Verse120 minutes are all you have to create your own world! You get a whacky topic of our choice, with a 120 minutes to write us a poem based on that topic – creating a universe one can enter just by reading your poem from start to finish. Incorporate your witty side by using dark humour, puns or satire. Let your imagination loose on this one, or our prompts might end up being more creative!

2. J.A.M.(Just a Minute)Three simple letters fill every person at Kaleidoscope with excitement. Why, you ask? Because these three letters don’t stand for sticky food or sticky situations.They stand for Just A Minute, the ultimate battle of wits teamed with numerous puns and innuendos. Each round has a different set of rules based on the discretion of the J.A.M Master, whose decision will be final and binding. Opponents can interrupt one another on the basis of the rules given to them. The only requirement - bring your wittiest, weirdest and wackiest people to battle it out at one of Literary Arts’ biggest and most popular events!

3. L.A.K. - KreationsThe first elimination round is a simple, 2-hour long questionnaire that tests just how much you know about ...fantasy and fiction– new worlds.. from both, books and showbiz that have come out between the 1970s and the present day. We will also test your knowledge on Greek and Indian mythology. Qualify, and the final round is an insane water balloon fight/treasure-hunt around campus, with each clue based on the clues from the quiz. Those lead to both an answer and a location. Participants will have to run around, looking for the right keyword (the answer to the riddle) which is placed at the right location on campus. Once they find the right one, they’ll have to report back to one of the two centres that will be set up on campus to get their next clue. But they’d have to be careful if they don’t want to be fooled by decoys and lose out on precious time! Go crazy, stay smart.

5. KolloquiumThis is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of an esteemed panel discussion. Each person is assigned a prominent identity beforehand - a politician, entertainer, social worker, businessman, common man, etc. - but no one else will know who you are. This panel will come together under one roof to discuss and debate on a controversial issue. The better the embodiment of the character, the stronger the argument will sound! Four qualifiers will then enter the final round and present a convincing monologue on a whacky topic. Are you ready to be in it to win it?
4. What’s The Scene?We invite you to a story-writing event like no other! Based on a staged scene, participants will be given an hour and a half to write a fictional piece interpreting it. When the time is up, the participants will be led to another room depicting quite a different scene to finish their story. A strong link must be forged between the two scenes, both of which should be incorporated into a complete, seamless tale.So, what’s your scene?

6. What Are Words Worth?
This year at Kaleidoscope, we bring back the classic, old-style poetry slam where participants can come up and recite an original piece written by them in either English or Hindi. They are free to recite poems on any topics they wish, keeping in mind, the Kaleidoscope ‘no vulgarity’ rule. Participants will be given five minutes to perform and will be judged on content, language, presentation etc.Come on stage and get slamming!

7. Written ReelWhat does everyone look for in a good movie? A brilliant plot. But it’s easier said than done, so this year we want you to put your creativity to work and churn out not only a compelling script based on provided topics, but also a short film! In the first round the participants will write a 7-minute script on a given topic. After submitting their scripts to our team, the participants will be given 2 days to shoot their short film which must not deviate from the script. The participants will be limited to shooting within the college campus and must only make use of basic editing (no animations).

8. Poetry in MotionEver heard a poem so fluid, so articulate that you could imagine the words dancing in front of you? If you pair that with the smooth motions of a dancer as they glide across the stage, the emotions shape into two forms of art and turn into an expression - the outcome can be quite mesmerizing. This is what ‘Dreamskape’ brings to you, as teams PA and LA come together and form a medley of two of the (arguably) most impactful art forms - poetry and dance. While 1 participant scribbles down their thoughts and feelings, 2 others express and put them into motion.
(An LA & PA collaborative event)1. The dance form should mainly be contemporary style.2. Total team members: 3-4; NPAs: 1-2.3. One team member must recite the poetry while 2 team members perform the dance.4. If live music is required, one team member can accompany the dance with instrumental live music.5. Pre-recorded instrumental music must be submitted beforehand.6. The maximum time limit is 7 minutes.7. This is a pre-registered event, teams are required to send in their registrations by the 30th of August.

BlabbermouthThe dictionary is not the only place where you can find new words!We present to you, the ultimate test of your creativity, knowledge and ability to express yourself coherently within the limited time. To keep you on your toes, however, we have introduced a special twist. A gibberish word will be given to you, along with the prompt. You will have to assign meaning to the word and integrate it into your speech. So let’s try to make sense of the nonsense as we step into a world of fantasy and fiction.May the odds be ever in your favour.

If you like telling stories, have a wicked imagination, are quick-witted and quick-tongued, then this event is tailor-made for you. In the preliminary round, teams of two will be provided with topics and given time to unleash their creativity after which, with multiple switches amongst team members and limited time you will carry on the same tale but in another language (Hindi or English) with our prompt. The final round will be even more challenging, with a face-off between two teams in an on-the-spot, spontaneous tale-telling. This time, at your own discretion, you choose when to change the language and hand over the baton to the opposing team, which carries on the same tale. Participants will face the challenge of outwitting the opponent but keeping the flow! So, all you loose-tongued, hyper-imaginative boys and girls, Kya bolte tum?

11. KryptInkThe governing society of Planet K is searching for candidates who can transcribe data, which is being exchanged between secret societies to overthrow the parliament. In order to decode for information, applicants are required to analyse an Inkblot, which contains 5-7 links to the actual plan. However, time restraint requires candidates to write a formal letter or postcard to the governing society and convey the threats in 150-300 words only. KryptInk needs you to push your analytical frameworks and display your cryptographic skills. The conveyance of message will be judged on precision with grammar, construction of form, and language consistency. Planet K looks for the next Alan Turing to serve its government. Do you have what it takes to decrypt the Inkblot?

13. Word WarsProve your spontaneity and coordination in a relay writing event! In the first round, participants will be expected to write a story. The catch is that they will do so without interacting with one another. One member from each team will come forward and write a maximum of 4 lines on the provided sheet of paper. With the help of 7 total switches, teams have to finish their story to move on to the second round. For this, a board game will be set up, which the participants will have to conquer along with a set of challenges that will act as hurdles to diminish their chances of winning.

14. Poetry in MotionEver heard a poem so fluid, so articulate that you could imagine the words dancing in front of you? Pair that with the smooth motions of a dancer as they glide across the stage, the emotions shaping into not one, but two forms of art. The outcome can be quite mesmerizing. This is what ‘Dreamskape’ brings to you to form a medley of two of the (arguably) most impactful art forms- poetry and dance. While 1-person scribbles down their thoughts and feelings, 2 others express and put them into motion.

Rules:1. Number of participants: 1 per college.2. The first round requires the participant to create a magical potion in the form of a mocktail along with an appetiser. It must revolve around a fantasy theme.3. For the 1st round, the participants will be provided with one protein item, either chicken or paneer along with salt, sugar, and water.4. Details of the second round will be revealed after the participants has cleared the first round.5. Ingredients for BOTH ROUNDS have to be brought by the participants.6. The list of requirements and ingredients being used for round 1 should be submitted to [email protected] by 25th August 2018.7. A write up on the recipe is compulsory (to be compiled during the event) for both the rounds.8. This event is NOT open to ex-students.9. Oven, refrigerator, and microwave will be provided along with a gas stove10. Other things like serving plates and utensils must be brought by participant.

Around The World In 45 MinutesPull up your socks, get on your feetIn this event, there’s no time to breathe.Complete each challenge crafted for you,After all, it’s success you want to pursue.With pictures as proofs of your progress,There are no limits to your success.However, do not forget that evidence is key,Pull out your camera, it’s a photography spree.

The requirement for the round is that all crews must add an element of fantasy in their performances.5. Any form of vulgarity in terms of choice of songs, props, costumes or gestures will be penalised . No part of the costume can be used as a prop at any point in time of the act. First light will be shown at 4 minutes and the second light will be shown at 5 minutes.4. Kindly note, participants will be penalised for extending the time limit.5. Inappropriate/abusive language is discouraged. Participants may be penalised at the judges’ discretion.

1. Each college can send in a team in each category: (i) Men's & (ii) Women's (However, if the college is not co ed, then it can enter 2 teams in the same category)2. Main desk registration (at the Marble Staircase) for the event must be completed at least an hour before on the first day of the event. Venue registration for each match should be completed half an hour before the allotted time of your match.3. Players who register on the first day, must play the entire tournament. (no replacements allowed).4. This event is open to ex -students who have passed out of college in the last 3 years.5. No foul language or misbehavior will be tolerated.6. The college and the festival will not be responsible for the misplacement of any personal goods.7. The college and the festival will not be responsible for any injuries picked up at an event. 1. This is a 3 on 3 football event played on half a basketball court.2. No. of Participants: 3 + 2 substitutes. All substitutes must play.3. Time duration: 10 minutes per match (5 minutes per half)4. 3 corners results in a penalty. A penalty will be taken from the half line, with an open goal and the player must use the back heel technique without looking at the goal to score.5. All players should be dressed in proper football attire. (Spiked shoes and belts are not allowed)6. Time slots shall be provided on first come first serve basis, no changes will be allowed.7. Incase a player of a particular team is late, we will wait for only 10 mins.8. All final decisions will be made by the referee in agreement with the table.9. Participants are not allowed to wear college jerseys for a match.
