CEREMONIES 2013

PREFACE

The International Kangourou Competition is an educational project aiming to promote the learning and use of European Languages, the learning of Mathematics and the strengthening of cultural links between the countries, through a popular competition for all. The competition is organized in Europe by the international association Kangourou Sans Frontieres (KFS), to which Thales Foundation is a member. The Kangourou International Competition in Mathematics is the most popular mathematics contest in the world reaching over 6 million participants from 52 countries in 2013. The Kangourou Linguistic was established in 2004 in order to promote the learning of five European Languages, at the moment, English, French, German, Spanish and Greek as well as the cultural basis of the mother countries of the languages. The competition content promotes the harmonious development of youth using non-formal education, by stimulating the creative and applicative thinking, the intuition, the imagination, the ability to select and to make decisions. In addition, it familiarizes both pupils and teachers with modern methods of testing and verification, in Europe and in the world. New activities of the THALES Foundation include the publication of new books, the organization of EUROMATH 2013 Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, the organization of the Math Factor Europe 2013 and an active participation in the Le-MATH Project. We would like to thank the Ministry of Education and Culture for their cooperation and support in informing the pupils and the French Embassy, for their support in the Linguistics Competitions. Thanks also to the schools Forum and Heritage for supporting the Foundation and hosting the award ceremonies.
