Main Direction of DevelopmentAs the central district of the Science City, research facilities in each of the disciplines are being developed and improved, such as the International Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS), the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR), the Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth (RITE), the Kansai-kan of the National Diet Library and Keihanna Commemorative Park.
We will endeavor to establish and improve educational research facilities of Doshisha University and Doshisha Womens College of Liberal Arts, along with facilities equipped to pursue the industrialization of educational research products.
We will improve the facilities of the Biotechnology Research Department of the Kyoto Prefectural Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Technology Center, which undertakes studies on the cultivation of superior breeds and improvements to disease-resistant crops, and the University Farm of Kyoto Prefectural University.
We will move ahead on the Green Cultural Park concept that seeks to become a center for culture, training, relaxation and recreation and rich in water and greenery. Additionally, we will develop training and educational facilities, as well as residential facilities, by taking advantage of the presence of Osaka Electro-Communication University (Shijonawate Campus).
We will develop houses and private sector training, research and educational facilities related to health and life culture, by capitalizing on the accessibility to Osakas inner-city area and the surrounding natural environment.
While maintaining a harmonious balance with the surrounding residential area, we will put our primary focus on the development of private sector research facilities related to the peoples daily lives, as well as other facilities that promote interaction with or provide information on these facilities.
We will develop advanced technology facilities for research and education, shared research, training and educational research, along with residential facilities, by working with existing industrial and educational research facilities in the Keihanshin (Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe) area.
In order to conserve the Heijo Palace Site as a special historic site and registered World Cultural Heritage, we will work to preserve, restore and repair the ruins, and develop the site as an urban park. Furthermore, we will improve the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties for comprehensive studies of cultural assets.
Nara Institute of Science and Technology takes the initiative in developing facilities for information-communication, bioscience, life science and environment, as well as housing facilities and a general park. We will also strengthen functional collaboration with the Seika and Nishi-Kizu District.
