Karie & Ellie
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider me as an adoptive parent for your child. While I
can’t imagine how it must feel to navigate the profiles of prospective parents, I have a great amount
of respect for the choice you are considering. I know that you are courageous, strong and loving to
be making these decisions for the future of both you and your child.
My name is Karie. While I have always wanted to be a mother, I have never felt the need to have a
biological child. Adoption has always been my #1 choice. I love children, and as long as I can re-
member I have dreamt of adopting. I was blessed in March of 2016 to do just that! My little girl, Ellie,
is so precious. It feels like she has always been part of my life and has become part of me. We enjoy
so many things together: reading stories, walks through the neighborhood, playing, visiting grandma
and pappy and laughing...a lot! As she grows, I look forward to praying together, family vacations,
helping with homework, family game nights, and imparting the lessons that I was fortunate enough
to have learned from my parents: honesty, kindness, gratitude, faith, and unconditional love. And
now, I hope to grow our family again, so that Ellie and I can share all of that and more with another
sweet addition. I would love to share more about myself, Ellie, family, friends, and all of the most im-
portant things in our lives. Please read on!

God has truly blessed me in this area. My life is rich; not because of my house, my salary, or all of the
‘stuff’ that I have been blessed with. I am rich because of the people in my life. My family extends far be-
yond Ellie, my mom, dad, and brother. I am fortunate to have a supportive extended family and friends
who love me and are a vital part of my life.
Family
I have wonderful and loving parents, Trent (pappy) and Kathy (grandma), who have been married almost
50 years. Not only have they been amazing parents to me, they are pretty much the best grandparents
EVER to Ellie! They love her like crazy! They watch her during the day while I work and love her up the
whole time. Right now, they are teaching her where her nose, eyes, ears and mouth are. It’s adorable to
watch! My big brother (uncle Scott to Ellie) and his wife live in Denver with my four beautiful nieces. Fre-
quent visits to Denver typically include trips to the zoo, swimming, doing my hair (see picture!), hikes in the
mountains, and tours of Hammonds Candy Factory. I wouldn’t be half the person I am today without the
love and support of my family.
Fr iends
I have lived in the same city nearly my entire life which has given me the opportunity to develop deep
roots and deep friendships. My closest friends have been part of my life for over fifteen years. I am grate-
ful to have been a part of their growing families. Watching their children grow and mature in both size
and character, and being able to form relationships with them during this time has been amazing! My
friends are truly family to me. And the best part? They are now Ellie’s family too. Ellie has so many peo-
ple in her life who love and cherish her. We have the wisdom of my friends who are parents, teenage
friends who love watching Ellie when mama has an appointment and young/toddler friends who either
want to be Ellie’s best friend, or who want to marry her. Don’t worry! We are holding all marriage pro-
posals until she is a little bit older!
I love the Buckeyes, THIS

My Christian Faith is very important to me. I accepted Christ on September 11, 2001 when I could
not make sense of the world or anyone’s place in it, including my own. Since then, God has
guided me, helping me find my place with peace and joy. I attend a large church that encour-
ages strong personal relationships by worshipping in smaller “home groups”. This is my com-
munity. My home group includes a diverse group of people of all ages, cultures, educational
backgrounds, and non-traditional family units, including a large percentage of adoptive families.
I am fortunate to be part of a group that offers such a strong foundation of wisdom and life ex-
perience, and grateful that God put these people in my life.

We love our cats! I have had two cats for the past
twelve years, Zoey and Buddha. Both are rescue
cats; Zoey from a shelter where I volunteered, and
Buddha from my backyard. Recently, friends intro-
duced me to a sick, tiny kitten living on their porch.
It was obvious that he wouldn’t make it on his own
without someone to care for him… that someone
turned out to be me! My parents named him
Moose (hoping he would grow as big as a moose).
After two months of trips to the vet and a warm,
cozy home, Moose recovered and stole my heart.
All of my cats are still adjusting to the antics of El-
lie. Growing up, I had a wide range of pets: dogs,
cats, turtles, fish, newts, chameleons, hamsters,
gerbils, rats, and rabbits (“whew!”). I feel that pets
can be a great tool to teach children respect, re-
sponsibility, and companionship. My pets have al-
ways kept me warm, happy, and smiling.
“Karie is an amazing woman and friend. She truly cares,
asks about and enjoys spending time with our children. Our children get so excited when she comes to spend
time with them; she plays and laughs but also sets boundaries and lovingly disciplines as necessary. And
she is an amazing and wonderful mother! “ - My friend,

“Karie has been one of my dear-
est friends for many years, to the point that she is basically a part
of our family! She has been here for us and with us through trials
and also for the joys that have come our way. Our children
adore her and they are beyond excited when they get to see
her. They beg for time to spend with her, which makes me hap-
py. She is an excellent role mod-el for them. She puts Christ first
in her life and lets His love flow out of her to others. God has
given her a huge heart and love for children and all things kid
related. I love watching her in-teract not only with my kids but
with any child that comes into her life. She is a wonderful
mother and I can't wait to see
how God uses her further in that capacity!” - My friend, Dianne
“Karie cares very
deeply for the people
in her life. She fiercely
loves and cares for
the people in her
world, and it is re-
turned by her family
and friends.. She also
loves God and tries
to let all of her ac-
tions reflect that.”

If I am blessed with the opportunity to raise a second child, I promise that he/she will be in a home filled
with faith, love, kindness, fun and stability. Finally, I feel that it is important to be open with my child about
his/her adoption. I believe that a child should understand both his/her origins, and be comforted that
they are loved by both me and you. I am happy to provide pictures and letters and hope to receive the
same in return to share with our child. Beyond that, I would also welcome discussion to determine your
level of involvement that we are both comfortable with.
In these brief pages, I hope I have given you a glimpse of my life and values. I would welcome the oppor-
tunity to offer more information to you. Regardless of your decision, whether or not I am chosen to raise
your child, I hope that you find peace and comfort in the decisions that you are about to make for you
and your child. Thank you for your time and consideration. May God bless you.
We live in the central Ohio area, and I have
owned a two-story, two-bedroom condo
for the past 15 years. Our condo sits on a
wooded ravine and nature truly comes to
us. Whether it’s deer, raccoons, snakes,
birds, or other critters…if it lives in the
woods, the odds are that I have probably
seen it in my yard. Our condo is also close
to a local park that sits along a nearby river
where I’ve been known to go “creeking”
with some of my second generation
friends. My version of the perfect day is
definitely one spent outdoors.
I am fortunate to have worked at my com-
pany for 16 years where I work in Project
Management. I work from home which
gives me a great deal of flexibility with my
schedule. But the greatest benefit of work-
ing from home is that I can pack up my
computer and Ellie and go to Grandma and
Pappy’s house. They watch her during the
day while I work. But because I can also
work from their house, I am never far away
from Ellie and I don’t miss out on any spe-
cial moments. And I get hugs and kisses all
day long.

“Oh how do I sum up my little sister? Amazing? Loving? Giving? Caring? Selfless?
The words are too small for a person with such a big heart to share. Karie has all of this and more. She is successful enough to give any child a wonderful life, but hum-
ble enough to be your average family next door. Life is a gift, and my sister lives it with an upbeat attitude that is hard to quantify, and even harder to emulate. She
also has a huge local support network of family, friends with children themselves, and eager grandparents just down the road. Plus, my four young daughters love to
coddle their cousin Ellie. “Aunt Karie” is their most cherished and talked-about aunt. She engages like no other. I can’t imagine a day without her cards and random
packages and annual birthday songs on voicemail. As a parent myself, I can say without reservation that Karie is a fantastic, devoted mother.” - My big brother/
