Our OEKO-TEX® tested cut protection gloves from the Genua series and the coated assembly gloves from the Padua series offer a particular high level of skin tolerance.

WITHOUT POLLUTANTS

In order to continue satisfying our demand for high-quality products, many of our gloves are tested and certifi ed by TÜV Rheinland. Therefore, not only the products themselves are tested, but also their manufacture in the respective production facilities.

WE TEST BY OURSELVES

Every incoming goods that arrives at our logistics centre is randomly tested in our own laboratory and checked for harmful substances. Leather gloves, for example, may not contain chrome-VI (CrO3). We also test our products for their fit and mechanical properties to ensure consistent quality.

REACH - means "Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals" and is one of the strictest chemicals laws in the world. As Regulation (EU) 1907/2006 it is binding for manufacturers and importers in the EU. In accordance with the principle of no data, no market, only chemical substances that have been previously registered may be placed on the market within the area of application.

The soothing, skin-protecting and health-promoting properties of algae form the basis of the SeaCell™pure fi bre. They are rich in various minerals, micro-elements, carbohydrates, fats and vitamins, which are preserved in the fi bre. These substances are released by skin moisture and unfold their benefi cial skin-caring and anti-infl ammatory effect. In addition, the textile properties provide further advantages such as breathability and high softness. Numerous studies prove the positive properties of the SeaCell™ fi bre.

Due to this fi bre, glove models such as the Rostock SeaCell or the Bremerhaven SeaCell are particularly skin-friendly and suitable for allergy sufferers.

In 2013, Hase Safety Gloves GmbH was honored for this innovation with the "Work, Safety, Health" award by the BG RCI.

The EN 388 standard describes the test procedures for determining the performance levels of certain mechanical risks. The pictogram is marked with five or six level values.

A - abrasion resistanceLevel 1 - 4

Depending on thickness and coating, it is being measured how many grinding cycles it takes until the material is worn through.

B - cut resistanceEN 388:2003Level 1 - 5

The number of blade rotations until the glove is cut through as well as the abrasion degree of the blade is measured.

C - tear resistanceLevel 1 - 4

The force required to tear the material of a glove to a nominal length is measured.

D - puncture resistance Level 1 - 4

The force necessary to penetrate the material of a glove with a steel pin is measured.

This test is performed with a new blade and more pressure each time until the material is cut through or has passed the maxi-mum test level.

This standard specifi es the thermal performance of gloves to protect against heat and fi re hazards. The pictogram is accompa-nied by six performance levels.

EN 407 - THERMAL RISKS (HEAT)

A - burning behaviourLevel 1 - 4

The time is measured in which the material continues to burn or glow after the fi re source is removed. The seams must not dissolve after a fi re time of 15 seconds.

B - contact heat Level 1 - 4

The temperature (100° - 500°C), against which the glove protects for 15 seconds without becoming more than 10°C warmer on the inside is measured.

C - convective heatLevel 1 - 4

The time until the inside of the glove warms up to 24°C after the glove has been exposed to a gas fl ame is measured.

D - radiant heat Level 1 - 4

The time until the inside of the glove warms up to 24°C after the glove has been exposed to a gas heater is measured.

E - protection against small splashes of molten metalLevel 1 - 4

The number of necessary drops to raise the temperature on the inside of the glove to 40°C is measured.

F - protection against large quantities of molten metalLevel 1 - 4

The amount of liquid metal necessary to damage a PVC fi lm attached to the inside of the glove is measured.

Protective gloves for welders have to be in accordance with the requirements of EN 388 and EN 407. In addition, other minimum lengths apply (see hand measurement page 13). A difference is made between two types of welding gloves:

TEST CHEMICALS ACCORDING TO EN 374-1

EN 16350 - PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC RISKS

This standard defines the test conditions and minimum requirements for the electrostatic properties of protective gloves. The application areas are mostly explosive atmospheres. With the new EN ISO 21420, the pictogram for EN 16350 was also defined.

Until now, the ESD symbol has been used.

For the production of leather protective gloves, almost exclusively cow, sheep or goat leather is used. While cow leather is very robust and tear-resistant, sheep and goat leather is very light and supple.

During the production of leather, the animal skins are usually split. A difference is made between grain leather and split leather.

By hydrophobizing, leather can be made water and oil repellent without losing its breathability.

Nappa leather tanned with chamois (chrome-free) is particularly recommended for those with allergies.

LEATHER COMPARED

Split leather Coarse-grained inner side of the split leather. The material is rough on both sides and less tear-resistant. It is often processed into velour and is well suited to withstand heat and cold.

Sebatan leather Up to 300°C heat resistant cow split leather. It's often processed with aluminium for heat radiation.

Grain leather Fine-grained outer side of the split leather with high quality and a smooth and tear-resistant structure. It is often processed into nappa leather.

The term gauge refers to how tightly the stitches are knitted on one inch. The higher the value, the thinner the yarn and the smoother the fit of the glove. For a high sensitivity the gloves are made with 18 gauge.

In order to improve the quality of our products, we partly use materials and coatings of some trademarks.

TRADEMARKS®

Kevlar® belongs to the aramids and is very tensile and heat resistant. In the glove sector it is used to achieve a higher heat protection or a better cut protection. It also provides excellent protection against mechanical impacts. Some of our leather gloves are reinforced with this material.

Sinomac® is a cut protection fi bre made of HPPE (High Performance Polyethylene) sustainably (without chemicals), which can be manufactured in combination with e.g. glass or steel fi bres to form a hybrid yarn. Due to the special manufacturing process, this skin-friendly fi bre has a high tensile strength and abrasion resistance as well as ex-tremely high cut protection (see Genua series). Sinomac® is OEKO-TEX 100 certifi ed.

Eco-Tan® is a trademark of Hase Safety Gloves GmbH and stands for the use of chrome-free tanned leather. Eco-Tan® gloves are especially skin-friendly and suitable for allergy sufferers.

Thinsulate™ is a trademark of the 3M Corporation. It is a heat-isolating fl eece fabric made of synthetic fi bres, which is mainly used as an insert in textiles for isolating cold.

Sanitized® treated gloves have an antibacterial effect and odour-inhibiting properties.

SeaCell™ is a fi bre in which algae are integrated. It has a skin-caring and anti-infl ammatory effect and supplies the skin with important minerals, micro-elements, carbohydrates, fats and vitamins. SeaCell™ gloves are particularly skin-friendly and suitable for allergy sufferers.

EN 20345 BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR SAFETY SHOESSafety footwear complying with this standard must have an oil and petrol resistant sole and a toe cap with a 200 joule load capacity. This corresponds to a weight of 20kg from a drop height of one metre or 1,500kg temporary weight.

Russia leather (Juchtenleder) is a cowhide leather tanned in a natural way. It is very fi rm, dense, supple as well as water and cold resistant. This sturdy and durable leather is used especially to manufacture forestry and hiking boots. Our shoes made of Russia leather are handmade in Germany.

Nubuck is the term for fi ne suede leather from the cow grain split. By lightly sanding the leather it gets a velvety texture.

Active Grip® is a registered trademark of the Hase Safety Gloves GmbH and stands for the use of a particularly non-slip sole technology.

Thinsulate™ is a trademark of the 3M Corporation. It is a heat isolating fl eece fabric made of synthetic fi bres which is mainly used as an insert in textiles for isolating cold.

Vibram® is a trademark of the same-named Italian company and stands for abrasion-resistant rubber soles.

ESD stands for "Electro Static Discharge" and is regulated according to EN 61340. Work shoes with ESD are recommended for certain fi elds of activity. According to EN 20345 the antistatic properties to avoid electro-static charging are already guaranteed from safety class S1.

KWF Profi and Standard - KWF stands for Kuratorium für Waldarbeit und Forsttechnik e.V. (Board of Trustees for Forest Work and Forest Technology). These two quality marks are given by the Forest Technical Inspection Board (FPA). Workwear is tested for function, safety, comfort and durability through practical tests.

DGUV 112-191 - Regulation 112-191 of the German Social Insurance describes the proper use of foot and knee protection. According to this regulation, safety shoes may be modifi ed with orthopaedic insoles. It is not permitted to use insoles from other manufacturers, otherwise the safety relevant properties of the shoe can no longer be guaranteed.
