Mahatma Gandhi Ji more fondly known as Bapu by all Indians is internationally acknowledged for his doctrine of non-violence that led to India to its glorious freedom. 2 October every year is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti. The story of his life has impacted humanity to its core. To revere this day, KBDAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7 B, Chandigarh conducted a myriad of activities

to commemorate the 150 Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji on 1st October 2020. KB DAV-7’s Endeavour to contribute towards Self-Reliant India

Slogan writing On the Theme “Your learning from the life of Gandhi Ji” KBDAV 7 has always focused on inculcating the Indian cultural and humans values among the students and merging those values into the modern education. Keeping up with its legacy and to instill the spirit of nationalism, the literary club of the school organised a slogan writing competition on the theme “Your learning from the life of Gandhi Ji” for the learners of classes VIII and IX. Students presented inspiring slogans. Through the use of captions, colours and creativity, the students exhibited the true love for their country and also expressed their gratitude towards the Father of the Nation for all the values learnt with their beautiful slogans. Their posters spoke volumes about their dedication and passion towards their nation.

Home Cleanliness Drive “Be the change you want to see in the world.’…Mahatma Gandhi”

Cleanliness was very close to Mahatma Gandhi's heart. To pay rich tribute to the apostle of non-violence, Mahatma

Gandhi and to explain to the students the importance and relevance of Swachh Bharat, KBDAV 7 took an initiative

and encouraged the learners to keep their surroundings clean. The students took the initiative to clean their

surroundings. They were passionate enough to clean their rooms, their houses as they believe that cleanliness

ensures a healthy mind and physique. The initiative by the school proved to be an entertaining, enriching and

enlightening experience for the students.

Lecture Series On the life Of Mahatma Gandhi on 30.09.2020

To disseminate Mahatma Gandhi's message of non-violence to school children, the Social Science Department of the school volunteers educated the students about the life of Mahatma Gandhi and how India won freedom through a non-violence movement, with the help of Videos and PPT’s. The learners took active part in the event organised during the Science Week and enjoyed it thoroughly. The lecture series invoked the spirit of patriotism amongst the learners.

Essay Writing Competition on 30.09.2020

When it comes to following the ideals of life, no one can surpass Mahatma Gandhi, the epitome of truth, non-violence and Swarajya. On the occasion of Gandhi’s birth anniversary, an essay writing competition was held among the students of the senior secondary wing of the school. The students were to choose from the following topics related to the life of Gandhi ji:

1. Gandhi Ji’s life 2. Gandhi Ji’s stay in Africa 3. Gandhi JI and Sabarmati Aashram 4. Role of Gandhi Ji in India’s Freedom Struggle 5. Role of Gandhi Ji and Kasturba Gandhi in the upliftment of the downtrodden

The students were to write the essay in 500 words. There was a great enthusiasm visible among the students. The activity was conducted to imbibe the feeling of patriotism, self-sacrifice and patience among the students.(photograph enclosed)

All these activities gave a chance to our learners to be learn more about values and thoughts. They have been motivated to become the ambassadors of peace in spreading the message and philosophy of Gandhi Ji as Gandhi Doots. Gandhian Philosophy is more relevant in the present world than it was in the pre-independence period. World peace, social equality can only be achieved by following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. The learners vowed to become better citizens of India and this World.

Declamation Competition on 01.10.2020

Declamation is a fantastic speaking event to improve public speaking prowess. It provides an opportunity to budding

youth to show their hidden talent. To make the students learn the skills of combining eloquent language with

equally eloquent delivery, a declamation competition on the theme “Fragility of Peace Process during Modern

Times” for the learners of classes IX and X was held. The contest witnessed a neck to neck struggle of dexterous

articulation amongst the participants. The students were encouraged to speak boldly and confidently. The winners

were selected on the basis of style of language, Structure, Intonation and Impact. These types of competitions

exfoliate the soft skill presentation and elevate self -confidence.

“As a tribute from Nation to Mahatma Gandhi, it is our social responsibilities to fulfill Gandhi Ji’s vision of Clean

India on his 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi”.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the students of Class III to VII give presentation on Swacchh Bharat expressing

the importance of sanitation, physical wellbeing and healthy environment, they made posters and videos on home

cleanliness, elocution were done to inculcate the habit like washing hands, maintain social distancing and

awareness on how to keep the surroundings clean throughout the week. Students were shown PPTs on Gandhian

Philosophy comprising of Gandhi Ji’s childhood struggle in achieving independence to our Country and his idea of

cleanliness. Students sang Bhajan “Vaishnav Bhajan Jo Tere Kahiye” immersing into it and thoroughly enjoying it.

They have learnt to face challenges and pledged to become a better person in life.
