She names her exposure to world music as a central factor in how she creates music and utilizes it to create “an international language without boundaries.” On her new album, you can hear the influences of Jessy J’s recent travels to Cuba and Africa with songs that highlight not only the rich sounds of those regions, but her musical prowess, as well. She grew up surrounded by jazz between her father’s piano playing and her mother’s formidable collection of Duke Ellington and Dinah Shore records. Not surprisingly, Schuur lists Dinah as one of her greatest influences. In her three-decade long recording career, Diane has earned two Grammys and has been nominated for three more. She has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the business including Ray Charles, B.B. King and Barry Manilow, among many others. Schuur has also been invited to perform at the White House on multiple occasions and was one of the select musical guests asked to perform for Stevie Wonder when he was recognized at the Kennedy Center Honors. If you Have proxy, please Use ItWas there a proxy included in your assessment bill this June? Proxies are mailed to facilitate the LMVA election of District Delegates which takes place in October. If you do not plan to attend the election proceedings in-person, complete our proxy and mail it back to LMVA. Proxies are available at the Lake office if you cannot locate your copy. There are several options for completing your proxy:

1. You may designate the current LMVA Board of Directors

2. You may name and designate any Lake Association member, other than yourself to vote your proxy.

3. You may indicate that you want your proxy counted toward the quorum requirements for the election meeting(s) to help meet the 51% quorum requirements to conduct business.

Some members do not receive proxies. LMVA members living in the “Sub-Associations” do not receive proxies. These Sub-Associations each elect their LMVA District Delegate at their Board of Directors meetings as required by the Sub-Association’s governing documents. For more information about elections for your District Delegate, contact your homeowner’s association Board of Directors.

be held. The twenty-five percent (25%) quorum requirement is also required at these reconvened meetings. The October Board of Directors Meeting will be held immediately following the Non-Sub Association District reconvened meetings.A Candidates Forum is scheduled for Tuesday October 27 at 6:00 pm in the Lake Clubhouse for any member wishing to speak on the upcoming Board Elections or any issue they want to address concerning the Lake Association. The culmination of the election process occurs following the Candidates Forum on Tuesday, October 27 at 7:00 pm with the Annual Meeting of the Lake Delegates. The election of the Board of Directors takes place at this meeting. Two Board positions are up for election in 2015. A quorum of District Delegates representing fifty-one percent (51%) of the membership is required to conduct the election. The District Delegates will then cast votes to elect Board positions. LMVA members are invited to attend all of the meetings in the election process. This gives members an opportunity to support their District Delegate and to meet the individuals who are seeking to serve on the LMVA Board of Directors. For more information on how to become a District Delegate, call LMVA at (949) 770-1313, ext. 213.

It is time once again to elect your District Delegate to Lake Mission Viejo Association. The list of delegates

adjacent to this article represents the current delegates for all districts in LMVA. There are two types of delegate elections held annually. Sub-Associations to LMVA elect their own delegates during their annual Board of Director elections. LMVA assists Non-Sub Association districts with the process explained below. Delegate representatives from all districts then elect members of the Board of Directors at the annual meeting held each year in late October. The first step in the process is the District Delegate Non-Sub Association Meetings, to be held concurrently, on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:00 pm in the LMVA Administrative Building. These annual meetings are held to elect District Delegates in all Non-Sub Association Delegate Districts. A quorum of twenty-five percent (25%) of members represented in person or by written proxy is required to conduct business in a Delegate District. It is not too early to consider who your District Delegate is and to contact your Delegate to talk about their accomplishments over the past year and their intentions for next year.On Tuesday, October 13 at 7:00 pm, in the LMVA Administration Building, the reconvened meetings of the Non-Sub Association Districts that did not reach a quorum at the October 6 meeting will

Spooky Fun for everyone at Lake eeerie

Summer stocking of warm water game fish has revived the LMVA fishery, including 3,000 lbs. of Tilapia and 2,000 lbs. of Channel

Catfish have been providing anglers with lots of opportunities to catch fish. Several stockings of juvenile Red Ear Sunfish have

also been delivered over that past three months. Evidence of a spring spawn of Largemouth Bass is present in LMV as we see quite a few 2”-3” bass chasing schools of Golden Shiners and Fathead Minnows that were stocked earlier have also spawned. These tiny fish provide an excellent food source for the little bass and will hopefully start to rebuild our fantastic bass fishery. Anglers can take advantage of this new age of fishing at LMV by using light line rigged with small single hooks and night crawlers for bait to catch both Tilapia and sunfish. Small spinners like mepes or phoebe lures are also catching fish. Fishing pressure is light, as anglers are just now starting to pay attention to this new resource of fish in LMV.The Aquatics staff is continuing to monitor the lake for the presence of Golden Algae and is ready to respond rapidly should the toxin from the algae reappear and begin to adversely affect the fish populations in LMV. For now, all species of fish in the lake are thriving and growing. Staff is making plans to stock trout in November should lake conditions continue to remain stable.

Join us on Saturday, October 24 from 6:00-9:00 pm and get into the Halloween spirit! This year’s event will be freaky-fun for all ages. Visit the pumpkin patch with your little witches and wizards for candy and fun activities. There will also be a balloon twister and a mind-blowing magic show from Spellman, a master in the art of illusion.

There will be a small haunted graveyard for those with steely nerves. But be forewarned: once you pass through the mausoleum doors, you may never come back! If you do make it back, save some time to enjoy treats from the snack bar, which will be open for your convenience.

Spread the word: Fishing is back at LmV. Get in on the fun!
