KCPL PRESCRIPTION SAFETY EYEWEAR PROGRAM
q KCPLemployeesthatarerequiredtowearsafetyglassesintheirworkare entitledtoONEpairofprescriptionsafetyglassesevery12months.
q KCPLemployeesthatarerequiredtoworkoutdoorswillbeallowedEITHER onepairofprescriptionsafetyglasseswithtintedlensesPLUSonepair withclearlensesORonepairofprescriptionsafetyglasseswithTransition lenses.
q Allprescriptionsafetyglasses,withtheexceptionofwraparoundframes, willhavepermanentlyattachedsideshields.q Thedetailsofwhatisincludedinthisprogramarelistedinthisdocument.
q AnyupgradesbeyondwhatisapprovedintheKCPLprogrammay beaddedattheemployee’sownexpense.Shouldbepaidatthetimethe orderisplaced.
The following procedure and program guidelines are provided to facilitate the ordering process.
Procedure:1) The employee obtains the examination and prescription from their personal optician or eye doctor on their own time.
2) The employee will report to a panel optician and identify themselves as a KCPL employee and will give the optician their KCPL employee number.
3) Optician accesses SEMS for authorization using employee ID number. SEMS card authorized by U.S. Safety to opticians.
4) The optician will complete the order form, as supplied to them by U.S. Safety, then fax the completed form to U.S. Safety.
5) The glasses will be manufactured according to the prescription and will be shipped back to the optician that placed the order.
6) The optician will check the prescription for accuracy then call the employee to come in for fitting and adjustment of the completed glasses.
Note: A change in frame style will require new measurements for bifocal and progressive lens wearers.If you are placing your order at the U.S. Safety Retail Store in Lenexa, KS then you will also pick up your completed order there.
