and invade, but Yamashi said that if he does not want, it was fine as it was too

risky. However, they wanted to get raw materials which their country

lack of, due to the growing population.

He was also told that Southeast Asia was rich in oil and other raw

material.

So Lieutenant-Colonel Takashi decided not to invade China and get to

Southeast Asia to get raw material and spend many days to think of

alternatives

to get raw materials.

However, the population of Japan grew too rapidly and were not able to

have enough food for their people and thus many had died from starvation.

So, Lieutenant-Colonel decided to start a the war but it was too late, many

of

their soldier died due to starvation and many countries, which was also facing

food shortages, was not able to produce food to help them. So in the ends,

Japan became a very poor and a country of poverty until today.

Lieutenant-Colonel Takashi thus decided to invade China and they sent many of their troops to China.

They managed to get many resources from China however they did not managed a full occupation on China as she was too big.

4 million were sent to China and Japan lost a total of 2 million military and civilian combined, in all theaters and from all causes. However, it was worth it as they did get many resources back to Japan for their people.

However, United State of America decided to cut off their oil supply so did the other countries.

It came to the Lieutenant-Colonel Takashi’s mind that they should join the power of Axis. Should he?

Should Should Not

Page 5: Keep Him Alive… The Untold Story Of Lieutenant- Colonel Takashi From: Ernest Ng (5) and Doe Min Jun (4)

Lieutenant-Colonel Takashi decided not to join the Axis Power and relied on themselves to invade Southeast Asia as they felt that they were competent enough and had enough troops to fight off their enemies

However, he was proven wrong when the Allies managed to invade Japan easy as they were stronger than the Japanese and Japan did not get help from other country thus, they ended their war with other country very soon and they had to do harsh labor work under the British.

Lieutenant-Colonel Takashi really regretted for not joining the Axis Power as if they had joined, Japan would not have lost to the war so soon and they could have the glory of being the master of Pacific and Southeast Asia

After joining the Axis Power they managed to gain some benefits from them as Japan had Germany or Italy to help them defend against the Allies.

They also planned their attacks together and held several meetings with each other with militarist experts and their plan worked well and both of them benefited and Japan could invade Southeast Asia more easily.

Their collaboration went well.

After many years and a long journey, they reached the causeway between Singapore and Johor.

However, at that point of time, Lieutenant Colonel Takashi missed his family especially his children and thought of going back to Japan. He heard that there was a chance to escape home from war without being noticed.

Should he go back to visit his family?

Should Should not

Page 7: Keep Him Alive… The Untold Story Of Lieutenant- Colonel Takashi From: Ernest Ng (5) and Doe Min Jun (4)

Takashi sneaked back home safely and managed to meet his family in Hiroshima and really did not regret on sneaking back to Japan despite the high risk.

However, the soldiers at the causeway were confused without Lieutenant-Colonel Takashi and they did not know what to do and thus they began to panic.

One of the soldier made a foolish remark and decided to charge into Singapore before their intended plan, of bombing Pulau Ubin and Changi before charging to Singapore.

General Percival heaved a sigh of relief as they placed sufficient defense in Singapore and managed to eliminate the soldiers and many Japanese soldiers were killed.

Takashi received the news and was really guilty and was summoned by the emperor to be executed as his escaped had been exposed.

He really regretted it and really hated himself for escaping and should have continue fighting the war… Also, he was partly caused of the fall of Japan due to their lack of soldiers, who were killed as they did not know what to do without their leaders.

After much consideration, he decided to not go back to Japan to meet his family as he felt that it was too risky and lead his troops to the causeway.

However, when they wanted to travel through the causeway, the British bombed the causeway to block their entry to Singapore, which the Japanese had foreseen it luckily and were prepared for it.

The plan was to enter through rafts and before that bomb Pulau Ubin and Changi before their entry. However, in order to move their tanks, they had to build another bridge between Singapore and Malaysia.

However, the Japanese seems very lethargic and many started complaining to Lieutenant Colonel Takashi. Takashi really pitied them and actually decided to stop the attack of Singapore.

Should he do that?

Should Should not

Page 9: Keep Him Alive… The Untold Story Of Lieutenant- Colonel Takashi From: Ernest Ng (5) and Doe Min Jun (4)

He decided to stop the war against Singapore and they defied the Emperor’s order. The Emperor was infuriated and sent some of his troops to catch him back.

However, Takashi and his troops were trapped in Malaysia and thus decided to help the Allies and fight their own people. Many were killed and in the war, Takashi spilled out most of the plans that the Japanese have planned.

The information given, however was not valid anymore as the Emperor knew that he would spill out the bean and thus came up with out with other plan.

The Allies thought he was a betrayer and was lying to them as the information does not tally and thus executed him as they thought he was a spy and a threat to them.

If only he had continue to fight, this would not have happened.

However, his conscience told him that he could not do that as he was

fighting this war for the sake of the people in Japan and decided to ignore what

his troop has said and continued to fight the war.

He and his troops endured the pain and suffering they had while trying to

build the bridge and fighting the war with Singapore.

The entering to Singapore was easy as the defense war weak after they

bombed Changi and Pulau Ubin, forcing them to move their defense.

He had a fight in Bukit Timah on 11 Februrary and he was badly injured

after being shot. However, he was really very weak and was going to faint.

Should he continue to persevere or should he rest while his

people protect him as he is really important to his troops as they would

not know what to do next without him?

Should Should not

Page 11: Keep Him Alive… The Untold Story Of Lieutenant- Colonel Takashi From: Ernest Ng (5) and Doe Min Jun (4)

Takashi persevere to fight in Bukit Timah and indeed it managed to increase his troops morale however that was just temporary.

He was shot by one of the Allies troops on his chest and before he was passed away, he really regretted for continuing to fight as he realized that without him, his troops would be confused as they do not know what to do next as Takashi was their leader and was the only one who was clear about the plan on the war.

Indeed his troops did not know their next move and decided to stay at the forest till further order from their superiors. However, in the night, the Allies knowing of the Japanese location at the forest, dropped a bomb at their location and most of them were killed.

Luckily, Takashi did not continue to fight and was protected by his troops.

When Takashi woke up from unconsciousness, the fight at Bukit Timah ended and he was alive and the Japanese gained victory.

However, on 13 February, there was a fight in Pasir Panjang and he did not participate as he was injured and was resting with the other injured soldiers in a deserted hopsital.

On 14 February, Takashi was informed that they had captured most of Singapore and the people are crammed at main city area and was really delighted.

However, they realised that they were outnumbered and did not enough weaponry and if British fights back, they are doom.

Should he sent his troops to retreat as soon as possible or should not?

Should Should not

Page 13: Keep Him Alive… The Untold Story Of Lieutenant- Colonel Takashi From: Ernest Ng (5) and Doe Min Jun (4)

Takashi and his troops tried to retreat Singapore as soon as

possible and the Allies who got a tipped off quickly blocked the

Japanese from escaping and the Japanese were trapped in Singapore.

They were sent to prison camps and had to do harsh labour

work for them and they suffered badly and some of them died of

starvation or illness.

Takashi did not die and managed to bear with the sufferings

they had to face. However, not long, there was an order that all the

Japanese in the prison camp must be executed and when Takashi

hear it, he was really depressed and feared of death.

On 27 Februrary, he was executed in Public and not

long after, it was the fall of the Japanese…

Takashi, however, was not willing to give up so easily,

however, they were really outnumbered.

Takashi told Yamashita about their plight and Yamashita came up

with a plan and decided to fool General Perceval.
