Phishing emails could mention anything from a scientific breakthrough to a new mobile app or viral dance video. Look at the domain name. Some attackers modify domains to catch targets off guard. For example, if the correct domain is www.example.com, the phishers may register “examp1e.com” or “example.co”. Be wary of fake charity donation sites. Before making a donation, make sure that the site is legitimate, you recognize the domain, and it uses encryption (https). However, just because a site uses encryption does not mean it is safe. Keep these tips in mind when browsing the internet and checking your email: Think twice. Attackers use emotional appeals in their emails. Stay calm and look closely at the email content before responding. Keep your password private.
