Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) The KRCS is a Humanitarian organization that was established on 21st December 1965, through an Act of Parliament. It currently operates through a network of 64 Branches and over 70,000 volunteers countrywide. The KRCS aims at alleviating human suffering in all its forms. It is from this background that Emergency Plus Medical Services was created on 23rd March 2010.

Emergency Plus Medical Services (E-PLUS) Emergency Plus Medical Services is a company fully owned by the Kenya Red Cross Society, whose core business is the provision of Pre-Hospital emergency medical services. In its 4 years of existence, E-Plus has been providing Pre-Hospital medical care and transportation of patients with illnesses and injuries on a Commercial basis as well as under Corporate Social Responsibility, in fulfillment of the mission and mandate of The Kenya Red Cross Society.

E-PLUS has endeared itself to Kenyans due to its superior equipment, highly qualified personnel and fast response to all emergencies. Its membership is affordable and comprises learning institutions, hospitals, oil prospectors, transportation companies, banks and small and medium enterprises among others. In the recent past, E-Plus has carried out timely rescues of victims of road accidents, collapsed buildings, bomb blasts, grenade attacks, fires, mudslides, tribal clashes, riots and other natural or man made calamities countrywide, from its network of strategically located ambulance bases spread out across the country. E-Plus is the preferred Emergency Ambulance Rescue service in Kenya.

• E-PLUS Ambulances are imported from IFRC through Dubai already custom made as Advanced Medical Ambulance units.

• Our ambulances have advanced life saving equipment equivalent to the intensive care unit (ICU).

• Our ambulances are manned by EMT’s and Paramedics who are trained and qualified in Pre-Hospital Critical Care.

• E-plus has the largest fleet of advance care ambulances spread across the country

• The ambulance fleet has 43 (4X4 )Toyota Land cruisers

• All our ambulances are fully Tropicalized for the Kenyan terrain.

Our Communication Capabilities

Our medical Dispatch centre operates 24/7. On average,

we receive over 600 calls per day.

• E-Plus ambulances are mounted with VHF and HF radios.

• E-Plus has a 24 hour operational Emergency Operations Center (EOC), with an active toll free line for emergency calls (1199)

• GPS Tracking System is installed in all E-Plus ambulances countrywide

• E-Plus works through a network of 64 branches spread out across the country that receive and respond to disasters.

Our Rescue Statistics

• We respond to an average of 650 emergency calls per month country wide

• We have slightly above 120 medical staff • Our average response time is 15 minutes • The Emergency Medical Dispatch receives about 600 calls

in 24hrs • 10% of our emergency calls are free to the public and

mostly accident cases • About 40% of our monthly calls are trauma related • We do 90% of Hospital transfers per month • On average we handle 33% of maternity cases every

monthly
