HeadsUP June/July 2015
Issue 39
Haygrove School are on Twitter! Follow us for latest news and messages.
Dear Parents/Carers
As the end of term approaches rapidly, we can all reflect with a great sense of pride and achievement on another hugely successful year at Haygrove School. Each year’s achievements seem to surpass those of the previous year and I never cease to be amazed by the talents and commitment of our students and staff! Now that the exam season is over, we eagerly await the results, but I must observe how impressed I have been by the work ethic and determination shown by students across all year groups.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your on-going support. Our partnership with you is critical and we shall continue to work closely with you to ensure that each student is able to flourish and succeed in our school.
Finally, I would like to ask for your support in two
specific areas. Firstly, when buying new uniform,
please would you check out the uniform code in the
attached booklet. Secondly, it is likely that the school
will receive a visit from Ofsted over the coming
months, and as part of the inspection process the
inspectors will wish to gauge parents’ views. You can
access Parent View from the link:
https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/register
It would be really useful if you could submit your
views now in readiness for this event, particularly as
we shall only receive a half day’s notice of our Ofsted
visit. Thank you in advance for your support.
Yours sincerely
Karen Canham

We have been delighted with the launch of Show My Homework and following the initial phasing of this new scheme, we would be very grateful if parents would share their feedback with us. Please visit our school website home page www.haygroveschool.co.uk and follow the link complete a short survey. We hope that this will enable us to further strengthen our partnership in ensuring students complete homework of a high standard and on time.
We also intend to begin using more features of Show My Homework from now on. You will start to see differentiated homework where students in a class might get different homework, perhaps due to different abilities, skills or some other need. You may also see quizzes and spelling tests set for students to complete online. If you want to find out more about these then you can check them out on Show My Homework using the “Help” links on the home page and of course you are free to ask us any questions you might have.

A Haygrove team that included students and staff
from the Yew
Wah Education
Foundation, took
part in the
Dragon Boat
Race held in
Taunton to raise
funds for head
injury charity,
Headway Somerset. The school’s team worked hard
to raise over £2000 which will be split between the
race charity and the Mawanda Basic School in
Zambia. Our first race was a very close-run affair as
the time difference between us and our competitors
was only 1 second! Although our plucky crew didn’t
win any races, they did improve on their time over
the three qualifying races and hope to return next
year to try again.
