The Bolt School Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Pius X Catholic High School is beginning the 11th year of serving your children under guidance of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.

Families who qualify for free and reduced lunches are able to take advantage of the program. All students will be able to re-ceive a lunch meal for $2.95 and a complete breakfast for $2. There is no change in the meal price this year. Please encourage your children to eat breakfast with us if they have not eaten at home. Breakfast is available from 7 to 10 a.m. That is the most important meal of the day and gets them off to a great start.

S.A.S. (service after school) will continue to offer food, snacks and beverages to your students after school every day. We have found it to be a great resource to students who need to get refueled for after school activities and sports practices. This service is available from dismissal to 4 p.m.

The free and reduced application is included in this mailing along with instructions and Q & A. All of this information can be found on the Pius X website under the Parents tab and then the food service tab. Please fill out the paper work and return to Pius – attention Karen Francis by August 10, 2018. Each year a new application needs to be submitted.

Students will use their bar coded picture identification card to pay for their meals. Each student has an account linked to the bar code. Funds can be added to the student’s meal account in three ways:

1. Cash can be added to the account via the website myschoolbucks.com (a service charge is added);2. Checks and large bills can be given to the business office to credit your child’s account;3. The breakfast cashier is able to take your cash or checks during breakfast service hours.

We are well prepared to serve students with special dietary needs or restrictions. If your child has a medical diagnosis that requires special food a medical statement form is available from the Food Service Director. The form requires a physician visit and signatures. Food Service will set-up special appointments with the student and/or parent to discuss the dietary needs and what the department is able to provide your child. Our staff has always taken a great deal of pride on making meals special for these students.

I (Tini) am using this format to announce my retirement at the end of August 2018. It has been an honor and a privilege to establish a first class food service at Pius X High School over the past 10 years. Carmen Goeden has been appointed the new Food Service Director, Carmen has been on staff for 7 years.
