Key Stage 1 (KS1) NURTURINGEXCELLENCE
Exciting opportunities are presented to our students as they take a step back in time to discover the importance of people and events in history. The students are taught to have a growing awareness of the past and use vocabulary to express themselves when discussing the passing of time. Students make observations between the past and present to identify similarities and differences;
Subject content for students in KS1 focuses on;
Changes within living memory
Events beyond living memory that are nationally and globally significant
The lives of famous people, for example, Florence Nightingale
The subject is brought to life through our use of various sources including artefacts, stories, photographs, videos and real life experiences of people we know in our community. Students investigate and evidence their findings using a variety of media including art and design, technology and design, drama and Computing.
