When he graduated from Middletown High School, he was named the 1977 Pennsylvania All State Catcher. He signed a scholarship with the South Carolina Gamecocks and played one year before being drafted in January of 1978 as the #1 overall pick of the Toronto Blue Jays. He played with the Blue Jays until he was traded to the New York Yankees in 1980. He won several awards with the Yankees: In 1980, he was voted as the MVP of the Kinston, North Carolina league. In 1982 he was Second Team All Yankee. Also, in 1982, he was part of the minor league team than won over 100 games and won the SAL Minor League Championship. In that year, he batted .302 and slugged 21 home runs. He is a founding member of KNSB in 2002. Coach: Steve Jeltz Coach Steve Jeltz is an 8 season, MLB Player. He spent his MLB career with the Philadelphia Phillies and the Kansas City Royals. He played: Shortstop, Second Base and Third Base. Coach Jeltz joined the KNSB organization as our infield and base running coach before taking on the Showcase team coaching assignment with Coach Lebo.
